Microsoft and Kelly Clarkson to celebrate grand opening of new La Cantera store – There’s been a lot happening on the Microsoft Corp. front “since you’ve been gone.” The Redmond, Wash.-based retailer (NASDAQ: MSFT) has released its opening date for the new store at Northwest San Antonio regional mall the Shops at La Cantera. Melinda Doolittle to sing at Black Tie Affair – “American Idol” finalist and longtime Franklin resident Melinda Doolittle will serve as the honorary chairwoman for the African American Heritage Society’s 12th annual Black Tie Affair on Feb. 1 at Embassy Suites Cool Springs. Doolittle will lead the black national anthem “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” with the audience invited to sing along. The Black Tie Affair raises money for the McLemore House Museum, home of former slave Harvey McLemore, who built the home as a free man and which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. – Read more at The Tennessean

The X Factor’s Carly Rose Sonenclar Hangs Around Backstage at Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark – X Factor runner-up and Broadway vet Carly Rose Sonenclar enjoyed a visit to the Foxwoods Theatre on January 20, where she took in a performance of Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark and met the show’s high-flying stars Reeve Carney and Rebecca Faulkenberry. The pint-sized powerhouse, an ambassador to the Starlight Children’s Foundation (an organization that provides entertainment, education and family activities to children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses and injuries), headed backstage with her family and some of the Starlight kids to say hello to their (and our!) favorite superhero. ‘America’s Got Talent Live’ tour is ‘postponed’ – The “America’s Got Talent Live: All-Stars Tour” scheduled for March 30 at the Fox Theatre is off. “The America’s Got Talent Live: All-Stars Tour has been indefinitely postponed, and the performance scheduled for the Fox Theatre on March 30 has been canceled” is the statement given. Jerry Springer was set to host the tour. Tickets for the St. Louis show had not yet gone on sale.
