Ledet’s performance at McNeese game canceled – LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) – “American Idol” finalist Joshua Ledet’s performance of the National Anthem before Saturday’s kickoff between McNeese State and Central Arkansas has been canceled. McNeese spokeswoman Candace Townsend said Friday that Ledet’s management said the appearance was canceled “due to unforeseen circumstances.” She says no further explanation was given. – Read more at KATV

Interview: Scotty McCreery talks Christmas, Elvis and his next album – McCreery is already collecting tunes for his next studio album, which he hopes to release in Spring 2013. He’s writing for the album with two top Nashville songwriters, Ashley Gorley and Kelley Loveless. “My songwriting craft isn’t perfect yet,” he says. “Hopefully it can get there.” In the meantime, he is half-way done with his first semester at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, just down the road from his hometown of Garner. He takes classes a few days a week and then is out on the road opening for Brad Paisley on the weekends. College has been a blast so far, he says. “I’ve loving every second of it. As far as people freaking out” when they see him, he notes, “it hasn’t been that way at all. The British royal attended a live screening of the U.K. version of the show in 2009 with his then-girlfriend Chelsy Davy and was invited backstage by the programme’s boss Cowell.
