‘American Idol’ Showcases Generational Shift That Marketers Must Be Wary Of – But what is so fascinating – and why we should care about this show – are the changes in contestants’ attitudes as season after season has bridged the time from economic gluttony to the economic gutter many find themselves in today. As a direct result of this recession, Generation Y isn’t what conventional wisdom and demographers alike first thought: it isn’t one big giant mass of 80 million kids. Instead, it is two very different, very unique cohorts – Generation Y and what I call Generation Green – both about the same size but growing up in very different environs. American Idol is a window into these two groups and the impact they have on the American marketplace. Read more at Forbes Magazine

Jennifer Lopez Slammed In Anti-Nuclear Iran Fiat Parody Video (EXCLUSIVE) – After writing Jennifer Lopez an open letter, asking her to renounce her endorsement relationship with Fiat — a company accused of supporting Iran’s ballistic missile transportation — United Against Nuclear Iran has now released a parody video, further vocalizing the singer’s involvement with the company. The video, given exclusively to The Huffington Post, shows Lopez’s Fiat commercial spot, in which she is driving through her born-and-raised Bronx, spliced with images of violence at the hands of the Iranian regime. Mirroring the smooth-talking Lopez in her joy ride spot, the parody features a similar voice-over with a very different sentiment. – Huffington Post

Its not a big deal that Scotty might have lost at a singing competition. He is not blessed with a big range. I would be more surprised if he won. Scotty won idol because he is charming and has an old school deep sounding voice for a young man IMHO.

  • Anonymous

Exactly. Katy’s people are Adam’s people.

  • Anonymous

I think there was a tweet that said they’d be moving into the new house sometime in February

  • Anonymous

David never said he “won” anything, he just said you could say he “came out on top.” If in one of the rounds, he was 1st and Scotty was 2nd, then technically he had a higher placement on top. He in no way lied. It’s the press took his statements a step farther and use words like beat and won when David did not. The blame lies with then, not David.

Does it really matter if another boy once came out on top in one round of a talent show years ago? Scotty is on top of the world in terms of success right now and I for one don’t see it slowly down for a while.

  • mchcat

I didn’t like David anyway – too screetchy

  • BonnieDee

My first tickets I bought were side stage, then I found a single ticket on the floor, so I have a decent seat.

  • Chris

David probably has the same problem a lot of people have, they pad their resume.  However, he is 17 and foolish enough to not realize that he was on camera and facts can be checked.  This wasn’t just bragging to some kids at school who wouldn’t know better.

However, I don’t think this is fatal.  Especially after watching all of the X Factor teens implode. Will he win, no but he did sing well in his audition so perhaps he can make it to the top 20′s, maybe top 10 if he has some really good nights.

  • Chris

Tweets coming out of the concert so far say Lauren was great and Luke is sexy.  Sounds like a good show.

I could probably find 1 ticket on Stub Hub, but the closest show is a 3 hour drive.  I only did that once to take my daughters to the Jonas Brothers/Hannah Montana concert.

I’ll wait for vids, or Jason posted they are adding more dates.  And he said on his website, Lauren will be with him “for at least the first part of the tour.”

Not sure where to post this, but Amy Brumfield (season 11 “tent girl” as they are calling her) is a top story on AOL tonight, about her checkered past.

Oh I wasn’t saying I thought a collaboration was imminent or anything, just that it would be cool. :)

I guess Lauren sang Kelly’s part with Jason tonight.  Cool

  • BonnieDee

The tweets from the crowd at Aldean concert are all extremely favorable.

  • BonnieDee

Jason brought Lauren out on stage and they sang “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”

  • Anonymous

Agh ! Video please ! I’m glad that Lauren got a good reception.

  • BonnieDee

Still waiting for someone to post a video of DYWS.  Everyone was tweeting about it like crazy.  Said she did great.

  • windmills

BonnieDee: Jason brought Lauren out on stage and they sang “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”

That’s sweet of Jason and I’m sure Jason means well but the idea of a 17 year old singing that song with a 30 something guy is just weird to me. Somebody on twitter said it was like acting but I’d be saying the same thing if a 17 year old were playing the love interest of a 30 something on TV or in a movie :p I’m also not too happy about it putting Lauren in the position of being compared to Kelly because that kind of thing in Idolland doesn’t usually go well.

But, I’m sure Lauren sounded great and it’s a great opportunity for her. I’m looking forward to at least listening to her sing this live, not sure if I’ll want to watch.

  • BonnieDee

Somebody said they had a video but haven’t posted it yet.  I’m sure Lauren knew that she would be compared to Kelly, and I know she would not try to say she is as good as Kelly or anything like that.  She is very humble.  She came right off stage and tweeted a thank you to Jason Aldean right away.  From what I heard she did a very good job.

  • Anonymous

I am glad Lauren got the opportunity to sing with Jason. I kinda fear for this video, because of the she to young to be singing this comments. People can get real nasty. We saw what happened with the GP video and all she did was wear a cut off shirt and dance. I can only imagine what people are going to say once this video get posted.
Anyway I am glad, because this is some good exposure for Lauren, even though the song is adult.

  • BonnieDee

I’m kind of holding off on commenting on that because I haven’t seen it yet and I want to see how they did it, and if they changed the lyrics slightly or not.  But if they didn’t I still think that the song is supposed to transcend the singers and their personal lives.  I was more worried about Lauren being compared to Kelly than anything.

  • Anonymous

Yeah I am worried about the Kelly thing to but not so much as the she to young comments be singing this comments, because those types of comments are more directed at her character. We know Lauren has a good voice, but she is different from Kelly so maybe she put a nice beautiful spin on it. Only reason I am not worried about the kelly thing is because only people in the idol bubble will hard core compare her like that. People outside the idol bubble won’t make such deep comparisons to the original. Yes they may compare it,but not as harshly as idol bubble people.

  • Chris

Oh, cool for Lauren. I stopped watching the tweets after a while but this was a concert, Kelly wasn’t there. “Fill in” singing happens all the time for duets. Actually, live maybe more satisfying than Jason singing alone to a track of Kelly.

he didn’t beat SCOTTY….THEY WERE THE 2 FINALIST..the contest ended due to money issues,,so a winner never was named,,,think it was rather silly of Mr Leathers to insinuate that he won…..
