American Idol contestant and internet sensation, General Larry Platt appeared on The View this morning to perform his popular ditty, “Pants on the Ground”.

After delighting the audience with an especially energetic performance of the song, the ladies asked Larry questions about his days as a civil rights worker, marching alongside the likes of Martin Luther King Jr,  whose birthday Americans are celebrating today.

Larry’s nephew him to the show and couldn’t be prouder of his Uncle’s accomplishments.

Happy MLK day everyone!

What can I say – General Platt just makes me smile! I, too, am proud of him and am glad that amidst all of the fun and laughs, he is getting across an important message which is for the youth of today to dress a little more respectably.

I hope America joins General Platt in rapping this song every time they see someone with overly droopy drawers!

I love this man. My attitude toward American Idol is always filled with snarks, but I have nothing snarky to say about this man. He is amazing! The push ups and ab bridges included.

Seriously. I wonder if I can hire the General to be my personal trainer?

Also, I think it’s always good to hear the message on a day like today from one of the people who actually walked the walk so to speak.

I do hope the General benefits in a positive way from all this attention. How fun for him at least that his message is getting out there, as it is a viewpoint that probably the majority of the population share.

Stupid, stupid interview. Instead of spending the time talking about his involvement in the civil rights movement over the last 40 years, they go on and on about “Pants on the Ground”… silly women.

Huh?! He wasn’t there to talk about the civil rights movement. Who told you he was there to talk about that?

I love this guy. So cute. I wish he was my dad/grandpa. He’d teach me a thing or two!!!!

    J9BT, I second that!!!!

Now that’s a cool old gentleman. I’d love for him to be my grandpa, or at least the eccentric old guy next door. He’s adorable.

Well, he DID talk about his involvement in civil rights in part of the interview, so it’s a reasonable thing to wish he’d spent more of his time doing that.

Personally, I prefer to hear Pants on the Ground, though. More room for cuteness.

I could see Obama picking up on this guy, particularly given Obama’s message to young black youth to act and dress responsibly. I don’t know though, maybe it would back fire as racial profiling. I guess though it should be addressed to ALL that dress that way, not just blacks although it seems to be more prevalent among young black guys.

In my neck of the woods it is very prevalent among all races of young males. I was/am thankful for General Platt bringing out this issue. General Platt did say in some interview that he has a “female” version of this song, although he didn’t go into details. Would that be about low cut tops? I’d love to hear it!

Yeah he did but that’s because he was asked the question. But this was more about the pants on the ground and his message.

I haven’t seen that interview. Cool! Low cut tops ROFL! Maybe. :)
