Chris Colfer is out and about in New York City this week promoting his new children’s novel The Land Of Stories: The Wishing Spell. I have to say it’s exhausting watching the Glee star discuss the many projects he has on his plate. Not only is shooting for  Glee Season 4 starting up soon (He plays gay fashionista, Kurt Hummel) but he is penning a Land of Stories sequel as we speak, and will be promoting Struck by Lightning, a movie he starred in and wrote, set to be released later this year. He’s also written another screenplay–a suspense story that takes place at an insane asylum in the 1930s.

I’m lucky I manage to wake up in the morning! Ha.

Today he visited the ladies of The View and it was a reunion of sorts with host, Whoopi Goldberg, who played the director of the New York based dramatic arts school Kurt had his heart set on entering this fall. We see the clip of Whoopi’s character praising Kurt after a fabulous audition, but it’s not mentioned that the director ultimately passed poor Kurt over. Sadz.

But I digress! Chris talks about the genesis of the book, (the idea came to him as a 10 year old) which follows 12 year old twins into the land of beloved fairytales.

On Good Afternoon America, Chris dished on some of the book’s characters. Goldilocks has become a wanted fugitive and Little Red Riding (not the sharpest tool in the shed) rules her own kingdom. When a 12 year old Chris showed his grandmother early drafts of  the book, her advice was to get through the 6th grade first before worrying about becoming a failed writer. Plus, Chris played a truth or lie type game.  Somehow, the hosts did not believe that Chris is actually a ninja master…

I downloaded the audiobook (which Chris hilariously narrates) and so far I’m impressed. It’s part Wizard of Oz, part Alice in Wonderland, part Shrek and a dash of Oprah thrown in for good measure. The book begins with Snow White confronting her evil stepmother in jail, desperate to understand why the woman who was supposed to love her tried to kill her instead.  It turns out wicked step mom is just another victim with a story to tell.

“I was obsessed with fairytales, and I was a very, very inquisitive kid, and I would ask my mom all kinds of questions. It all kind of formed a story in my head, and I really wanted to be a published author when I was 10, but I had a hard time writing a novel when I was 10,” Colfer told MTV News. “So I decided to wait until I was little bit older and then get it done.

“It’s always been the same story,” he continued about the final incarnation of the long-simmering story. “Every single character has always been the same since then. There were some lines I remember writing when I was 10 that stayed with me, along with the story, that I made sure were in the book as well. Like, I knew it had to start with ‘Once upon a time.’ ”

I do believe CC is going to have a long and fruitful career and will keep on breaking records in the arts and literature circles.  I foresee a lot of awards and induction into a few halls of fame and he’ll get them through the right way; working hard and having pure talent.  Good public figure for the young kids; his work ethics are for the youngsters to look up to.

Saw a picture of the line to see him in Ridgefield, New Jersey. Jeez, I hope they had enough books for everybody. He has a signing soon in San Francisco. Should I go?

Those kids began lining up early in the morning in 1 million degree weather for a 7 pm signing. If you don’t mind waiting in a long line, go for it.

Thank you very very much for the video’s, MJ .

Chris Colfer said that his shelf time as an actor is when he is 25 years old. Until then he will milk the “actor cow” as much as possible and strike the iron when it is still hot. Hope that by the time he is 25…he will find a nice love partner and will live happily ever after in the land of Colfer… and write even more books and movies and maybe even a TV-serie ? Mr Ryan Murphy version 2.0 in the making ?
