Listen to the new single from Bruno Mars called “Locked Out Of Heaven”. It’s like a cross between The Police and Sam The Sham and the Pharaohs. Throw a little Dave Guetta in there. It’ kind of odd, but I think I like it.

Oh wowza, the beginning sure did sound like the Police.  Actually the song sounds similar to their song, “Every little thing she does is magic!”

Honestly if I heard this on the radio…I would change the station.

Really like Bruno and his music, but I really don’t care for this song. Even so, no worries, it’s Bruno and it will be a hit.

I don’t like the song nearly as much as his other singles.

But I heard it twice on my drive to class at 6 pm tonight (once on the HAC station and once on the CHR station here in L.A.) — and then when I drove home 3 1/2 hours later, I heard it on the CHR station AGAIN. So it looks like it probably got one of those Clear Channel deals where it gets played every hour.

    Meh

Ha, that description really made me expect the worst (especially the David Guetta aspect of it all), but I like it.

LOL @ Sam the Sham and the Pharohs. I can’t get past the noises that sound like poor imitations of bodily functions. I do hear the Police vibe. I like Bruno, don’t care for this at all but I don’t count!

Actually it’s much more Message in a Bottle.

Odd choice if this is a first single. Doesn’t sound like his other stuff. I will wait to hear the rest of the tracks.

And that is what’s wrong with Clear Channel, they play any song from a pop artist, even if it’s meh. I like Bruno but the free pass method needs an update.

I really like it.  I’m not sure with all the non-likes here.

I think the problem is that the song doesn’t carry the same punch as something like Grenade would. Which is a shame because I LOVE Bruno, and I was so looking forward to this. I wanted to love it, but I only like it. Which is better than hating it, so hopefully it will grow on me as time pass.

I like that he is merging different styles, that’s become Bruno’s hallmark.  It’s very different from what’s currently on the radio, but the same could be said for “Just the Way You Are.”

I think the song is GREAT and he’s got another hit on his hands.

Yeah, it does sound like The Poilice, but, hey, I like The Police.  With that said, it’s not THAT far off from is old stuff.  Bruno still sounds like Bruno.

  • Chris

Maybe that’s it. The first time I heard Grenade was in a restaurant that ran videos and it was so striking we stopped talking to look up. This one, I think we’d keep talking.

An odd one for me – song’s OK, but, unlike most of Bruno’s music, don’t like his voice here or the, IMO, one-note – slightly boring – performance.  But, radio being the way it is now, will probably get played a lot.
Have no desire to hear it again.

Well I really like this. It’s kinda retro. I hear The Police in this so much. But, I’m, not a demographic that matters, so who cares?

  • roarpen

I do hear the Police in this quite a bit. It will probably be a big hit – but I don’t like it at all. I remember the first time I heard Grenade – I turned it up on the radio – and thought afterwards how much I liked it. And I never once turned the dial when that song, and just about any of his others was on. But this? I think if he kept the creepy yelps off of it and the stupid sounding “ooh” it might sound better. But even so, it just sounds like totally crappy pop to me.

I LOVE Bruno Mars, but have been summarily disappointed by this single and his last single (It Will Rain). :(

I don’t like singers who repeat themselves. If you want to listen to something like Grenade, then go and listen to Grenade. That has already been done by Bruno. Why would he want to do something similar again? Stop whining that this doesn’t sound like Grenade or Just the way, because it wasn’t meant to.
