Team Iluminate for the win! Out of the four acts competing, they have the most credible Vegas act. They’ve got a very creative and exciting act that would would on a bit stage.
The singing acts are both mediocre. Laundau is second rate Sinatra. He’s a dime a dozen on the strip. Poplyfe are, and always have been, completely out of their depth in this competition. They totally chocked tonight. Those kids need a few more years to season.
Silhouettes have their strengths, but I don’t think they’ve got enough flash. I could see them in Branson. But it’s moot. They’re all kids and will and should go back to school.
Tomorrow night’s duets: Landau will be singing a duet with Patti Labelle, Team Iluminate will perform with Cobra Starship.
I’ll be live blogging the Final performance show of America’s Got Talent tonight! The two hour finale is tomorrow night beginning at 8 pm on NBC.
The top 4 –Landau Eugene Murphy, Team ILuminate, Poplyfe and Silhouettes will compete for the 1 million dollar grand prize and headlining Vegas show.
Season 2 winner, Terry Fator will perform.
First up is Landau Eugene Murphy – “My Way” – We get his tearful sob story right from his own mouth. Homeless at 19 *tear* on to car washer in West Virginia. He’s singing “My Way”. Could this song choice be any more obvious. The phrasing the diction really really needs work. I’ve heard him compared to Sinatra, but not even close. I don’t think he does himself any favors by choosing the legendary singer’s signature song. Oh look. Freaking pyro for “My Way”. The judges give him a standing O. “What a moment, ” says Piers. He felt he saved the best for last. “You sang that absolutely from your heart…that was a million dollar performance tonight.” Really Piers? “You gave me goosebumps, says Sharon. “Perfectly sung, the right amount of emotion. You didn’t play it safe tonight.” Howie says there’s a really good chance that he just “sealed the deal”. C’mon, at least wait until the rest of the Top 4 perform.

Team ILuminate – Ohhhh. Hearts. That was pretty cool to look at. Like watching a human kaleidoscope. The team has outdone themselves. This is definitely the type of act I could see flourishing in Vegas. Sharon says, “This act is about technology, creativity, and someone with vision. It’s groundbreaking what you do. You create everything from zero, and it’s just brilliant. Bigger and better. Incredible.” Howie says, “You also deserve to win. You are at a disadvantage because people relate to personality. I hope America sees this.” I hope they do too.They deserve to win. Piers says, “You’re what this country is about. America needs smart young people…” Then he goes on a rant about the economy in America and how Team Iluminate could somehow save it. ER Ok. Still. excellent performance tonight. Vote America!

Terry Fator is next. Ventriloquism is so weirdly…old fashioned. This bit would fit right into the Ed Sullivan Show circa the 1960s. Terry says getting in the Top 4 is an amazing accomplishment. They should all be proud of themselves.

Poplyfe – “We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions” by Queen – We learn all about the teen members of Poplyfe. Whoopee. Go back to school kids, come back in a few years. Honey, you ain’t rocking me. Sorry. You don’t have the chops for Queen. This tune is just swallowing her whole. She’s not even singing in tune. The background vocals are tragic. Wow. This act is in the Top 4? This is why AGT sucks. Horrible. Howie just called out Poplyfe for singing out of tune. The girl is crying because she knows she sucked “I was feeling it too much.” Piers thought the singing was off key, but still thinks they are very talented. “Vote for the whole show, not just the finale” says Piers. Sharon says the singing wasn’t great, but the emotion was there.

Oh. They’re having technical issues, so we’re getting some impromptu filler. Hm. I wonder what’s going on? They didn’t get on with the competition until close to 10 pm. Oops. Sorry DVR peeps, you are SOL.
Silhouettes – “What a Wonderful World” They’re skipping the video package due to time constraints. The youthful troupe takes a trip across the world. They come back this week with another message…love all over the world! It’s less political and manipulative than less week, thank you. The choreography is beautifully down as usual. Piers says they saved the best for last. Sharon called it inspirational and beautiful. Howie says it had the perfect ending.
