American Idol’s Kelly Clarkson Cast in Animated Christmas Movie ‘The Star’

American Idol singer Kelly Clarkson will lend her voice to The Star, Sony Pictures Animation’s animal take on the first Christmas. Also cast in the upcoming holiday feature are The Walking Dead star Steven Yeun, Oprah Winfrey and Saturday Night Live’s Aidy Bryant.

Keegan-Michael Key, Kristin Chenoweth, Anthony Anderson, Gabriel Iglesias, Ving Rhames, Delilah Rene, Kris Kristofferson, Gina Rodriguez, Zachary Levi, Tyler Perry, Tracy Morgan and Christopher Plummer are also taking part, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Here is the plot, via Sony Pictures Animations:

The Star tells of “a small but brave donkey named Bo (who) yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill. One day he finds the courage to break free and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams. On his journey, he teams up with Ruth, a lovable sheep who has lost her flock, and Dave, a dove with lofty aspirations. Along with three wisecracking camels and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow the star and become accidental heroes in the greatest story ever told — the first Christmas.

No word on which character Kelly will voice, but according to THR, Yeun is voicing the donkey, Bryant the sheep and Key the dove. Plummer is King Herod, while Rodriguez and Levi are Mary and Joseph, respectively.
