Okay, well my friend knows an Idol staffer who he happened to talk to today.

The staffer knows we go on forums and blab so he didn’t tell us much. Just that the spoiler list is FAKE and not to trust it.

Also, he said that like Adam and Kris this past week there is a contestant who really does something to the arrangement of a song that takes it places this week—it’s Scott.

Scott takes a well known up-tempo rock song and totally strips it back, does it slow highlighting the vocals and just does it on the piano–no other instruments or backups. He said it reminded everyone of when Bo did “In a Dream” and Scott will stick around after this one.

Hope that’s true!

Allison picked a great year to be born…so many great songs

Scott is soooo going to need the ‘pimp spot,’ an inspired performance, and hope that Adam or Kris does not sing just before he does, to have any chance of staying out of the bottom 3. Either he, Matt or Anoop is in the crosshairs this week, and I predict that one of them is going down.

Well, let me put it this way. After they stole CSB from Adam at the last minute last week, I can’t imagine he would pass up the chance to go mano-a-mano with the great Steven Perry and take on “Open Arms”. That or he could do a hauntingly beautiful “Blue Eyes”.

You have to put yourself in Adam’s shoes. He tries to give us something new every week: so far we have had 1) raunchy (CGNS), 2) fun (BOW), 3) weird (ROF), 4) soft and beautiful (TOMT) and 5) funky (PTFM). What’s left and what have his fans been begging him for?

Right, they want him to channel his work in Ten Commandments and Brigaddon to silence the haters who say all he can do is screech.

If I am Adam, I go BIG and BEAUTIFUL this week. That means “Open Arms” or “Blue Eyes”.

I read the rumor from Matt’s thread in TWOP, but it sounds like they just got that rumor from somewhere else, LOL. No idea if it’s based in anything at all, but it sounds possible to me, I guess.

That’s not true. Anthony got the boot in Season 4 when he sang last on Final 4 night and the same happened to Melinda in Season 6 when she sang last on Final 3 night.

Eva Cassidy has a great version of True Colors…much better than Phil Collins’ version. I think Anoop could do a great job of this. Much better than Who’s Johnny.

*During his first audition, he actually asked to start over his song He thought it was funny.
*He jokingly said “If he hadn’t made it through, he would’ve been pretty ticked off.”

*His mom thought he should tone down his look for the show, but he said if he can’t express himself like does in everyday life, then he isn’t really being Adam.
*He said the whole journey has been “dreamlike” and he finds it funny when friends and family call him and tell him they talk about him on TV and in magazines. He likes the attention because it’s something he’s wanted to do for a long time.

I don’t think that Kris is going to hit bottom three even if he does poorly tonight. I think that his fanbase is big enough and he has enough momentum and been consistant enough that people will keep him around. I believe that he was #2 or #3 on Dial Idol last week. I think that Lil and Scott are going to be fine regardless of how they do.

I am worried that Anoop, Allison and Matt will end up in the bottom three, and that either Anoop or Matt will go home.

Well, we don’t know the vote totals but Kris was #2 on DI last week or perhaps even first since the difference between him and Gokey was within the margin of error.

I swore after DC last year that I would not become emotionally involved…that I would sit back and just enjoy what the season would bring…..and now I’m so invested in Adam from the viewpoint of being so excited about what he will do next. I have also fallen in love with the different sides he shows of himself.

I am still shakey on whether he should win or not and always thought top 3 would be good enough…now I say fuck it and I am he takes the whole thing.

Kris was only towards the bottom once and Kris was voted thru by fans, he wasnt placed where he is by the wildcard.

I would love to hear Adam sing Open Arms. Am wanting Allison to do well tonight. Adam and Allison are the ones I get nervous over while watching the show because I want them to really shine and I get this uptight feeling when they come on (insert worried mom look here). I’d like to see one or more of the others REALLY step up their game and give me a reason to care more. Well, that’s all on my brain right now. I’m sleepy.

I think Dial Idol is only good for a peek at who is at the very top and very bottom. The middle can be way off. That is why there are weeks people 6 spots from the bottom are in the B3 and others not sometimes. Take it with a grain of salt. The top 3 of this competition is starting to become very clear.

Where did the True Colors rumor come from, Anoop Dog?

I saw at Survivor Sucks that a friend of Kris’s said he is going to sing a really upbeat song tonight. That doesn’t sound like the song Heaven to me.

Bottom 3 will be Scott, Kris and Lil

I think that Kris does have a good amount of fans and I think that he is picking up a lot of the casual voters. So are Lil and Scott, Lil have never been in the bottom three and Scott has only been in it once. Last week they were both pretty high up on Dial Idol, and I think that they got way more votes than Anoop did.

Lil and Scott IMHO, are overpraised by the judges and usually get a decent amount of votes, no matter how they perform. I don’t think that Lil, Scott, or Kris are going to be in the bottom three, no matter how they perform.

I admit, I am going to be worried about Anoop, Matt, and Allison until I see the spoilers, see everyone perform, and see the Dial Idol rankings. And I am still going to be concerned about them until I hear that at least two of them (hopefully at least one being Anoop) are safe.

Allison has a tendency to end up in the bottom three no matter how well she performs, Anoop has been inconsistant and IMHO, the judges threw him under the bus last week, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they did it again this week. And I think that Matt might be losing some of the judges support.

Plus these three are not as heavily pimped, and overpraised like some of the other contestants are, and they don’t have backstories that are going to get them any sympathy votes.

I personally would love it if all three of them were safe, but I am afraid that is not going to happen and that at least one of them is going to go home tomorrow night.

Sorry to pick a nit, but Allison was Bottom 3 Top 11 (Country) and Top 9 (Sing Whatever but We’ll Pretend it’s a Top Download) night. She was not bottom 3 the past two weeks.

I think 2 of my 3 faves will be fine no matter what – Adam and Kris. Adam’s always been popular, I feel, and it seems as though Kris has been picking up steam steadily.

I am a little worried about my girl Allison but I’m not convinced it’s her time yet.

I think that unless he does something amazing or has the pimp spot, Anoop will probably go tomorrow. I like him and I don’t want him to get voted off but it seems as though the judges don’t really want him around anymore for whatever reason.

Others in trouble are probably Matt and Scott…although with a great performance, Matt could secure himself a spot in the top 7. The judges seem to love Scott for whatever reason.

I’d personally like to see Lil or Danny gone because I don’t think either of them are any good but clearly, the judges and producers think otherwise.

But really….spoilers might help make this more clear for me.

Assuming Danny and Adam are Top 2, I don’t think the judges would use the save for Scott or Lil, but they definitely would for Kris (not that he needs it right now) and maybe for Anoop or Matt. They would definitely, I think, use it to save Allison. After this week and next, we will be down to six and I’m thinking Lil and Scott may be out of it these next two weeks.

I’ve never liked “True Colors” but what do I know….

I’m REALLY annoyed with even the thought of Who’s Johnny. I never heard that song before, and frankly I didn’t need to go on youtube and hear it now. There is absolutely no way any contestant, past or present, would ever seriously choose that song, unless he/she was trying to go home. Please tell me I’m stressing out over nothing and let’s hear some real spoilers!

I loved Nadia. She was my fave at first, and I switched to Bo when she got booted.

Good point about Anoop and Matt, Sarah. Things may have changed though and if either Matt or Anoop (or any of them for that matter) are making a lot of sales at iTunes, the earlier saves might not matter so much.

Allison’s choice is actually pretty good. It’ll let her SING…not scream, which will show a bit of her versatility as a singer. And who didn’t think Lil Rounds was gonna go with “What’s Love Got to do With it”? Gosh…that’s the predictable one in my book.

I don’t really care for Anoop and Matt’s choices. I think that they are going to be bottom two tomorrow and one of them is going to go home.

I may be biased as an Adam fan, but I think he’s always in the second half of the show because he is so exciting. Even my mother, who used to hate him but is coming around, said she tunes in just to see what the hell he will do every week. If I were a producer, I’d put him at the end to guarantee people watch the entire show. That being said, LOVE his song choice. I hope Allison kicks ass too.

The kids do not pick the order they sing in. Why on earth would you hate one of them for that? It’s not Adam’s fault he is going last.

My feelings on Allison’s is her and her vocal coaches had this one picked out years ago. Year of Birth has been standard since season 4 and that song cleared season 2, Kimberly Locke did a fantastic version. Other seasons had, Constantines seducing the camera with it and season 6 some first round girl got booted by singing a pitchy version that seemed all over the place. Best version ever was Carrie’s audition version.

So if her vocal coaches were smart, she should have this one down pat.

I’m interested to see Adam’s take on that moody song. Not a lot of high notes for him to rock.

I might be the only one, but I remember a couple of good versions before Archie’s, and I wasn’t too impressed with his. Archie’s fans may not like him singing it, but oh well. We’ll see…….

Even as an Adam fan I’m surprised he’s got the pimp spot when the likes of Scott hasn’t had it yet, but I don’t think that that’s any reason to hate him .. he’s not the one deciding the order .. so hate the order sorter and not Adam.

I also wonder, like a previous poster, whether they are putting Adam in the later stages of the show as from what you read a lot of people seem to be tuning in to see him.

I’m really excited to hear Adam’s version of “Mad World”. And I’m so happy that Anoop isn’t singing “Who’s Johnny”! He could fart out “True Colors” and it would still be better than Who’s Johnny. At least I’ll get one last iTunes recording out of him on a song I sort of like. I think he’s leaving this week no matter what happens tonight, so hopefully he’ll get a really good performance in.

I’m having trouble imagining Kris singing that song, but I guess I can’t remember how most of it goes. Kris is sort of anti-rock to me and I don’t think the addition of an electric guitar will help.

Allison can get away singing that song because she sounds like she’s 40. Can’t wait to hear her version.

I am TICKED that he is always featured in the last half of the show. Only once, with ring of fire, was he in the first half. And he wasn’t even performing #1 or anything. So annoying. Kris has been in the front half SO many times, golly gosh. And Anoop is always in the middle. Sometimes, I think that going in the middle is worse than being #1, actually.

I wish that the producers *would* put Adam in the early part of the show. That way I can turn the show off once he’s done singing. As it is, I have to watch most of the show each week, just in case they switch the order from the dress rehearsal and move Adam up. Well, I don’t actually watch, I have it muted during at least half of the other performances….

i completely agree background_noise. If you give an amazing performance, then you will stand out whether you are first or last. It’s just up to them to give us that performance.

I’m sorry, but I have to chuckle at people thinking that Archie owns Stand By Me. Aside from inserting a couple lyrics from Beautiful Girls (ahh, remember that controversy?), he pretty much did a pat version of a great song. I’m not saying he didn’t do a great job, he did, but he hardly “owns” the song. (I actually think he did it 10 times better on tour than he ever did on the show.)

I agree with whoever said you’ll watch the performances you’re interested in here on MJ’s and not bother with the rest. Think I’ll hop on the treadmill and tune in to NCIS instead.

Look, Adam is getting the pimp spot for two reasons. First, the surprise factor. NO ONE knows what he’s going to do next, and so people stay tuned in just to see. And that’s not something that ANY OTHER contestant couldn’t have done, had they chose to.
Second, none of the other contestants have had to deal with Bill O “outing them” as some kind of pervert on national television the night before they had to sing.
So if this is AI’s clumsy and heavy-handed way of making it up to him, I’m really okay with that.

I don’t know about singing first, but I remember last year David Cook broke the 2nd slot curse and it was a big deal across the boards because everyone who sang in that slot went home. Cook sang 2nd Top 9.

Danny, “Stand by Me” is not from 1980, it became a hit again in 1986 when it was featured in the film of the same name.

Much as I love Adam, I have to say the singing order is definitely getting pronounced, and I get why big fans of other Idols would be upset. I don’t even recall David Archuleta getting that treatment last year — can anyone remember? He got the pimp spot top 12, I remember that, but I feel like he moved around more than this after that.

My only guess is that Adam must really be driving ratings, and I even wonder if they’ve seen ratings drop after he goes (the last two weeks would’ve given them an opportunity to see that). I’m positive that fairness would go straight out the window in a second if the producers thought they were getting an extra million viewers in exchange for being unfair.

Or my other speculation might be they’re doing some preemptive protection for Adam against any effect from the O’Reilly piece — if there were a week when they badly wouldn’t want him to get knocked off, this would be it.

All that said, I’m excited for Mad World! Although I have a 9pm meeting and would really like him to be going sooner for my own sake.

Absolutely agree. I remember Jason Castro’s “Somewhere of teh Rainbow” being one of those AMAZING performances for me. And if I remember currently he was only number 3.

I don’t care what freaking number you are you just NEED to BRING IT.

And I always figured they did the more “mellow” numbers in the beginning sometimes anyway now that we are down to more manageable numbers.

But most people just don’t always tune in the first half. I know some nights I can’t always catch the first half of the show and catch the second. This I’m sure plays a HUGE role in it. I DVR nowadays, but while the pimp spot plays an importance, I would also say that the last two to three people to perform matter just as much.

The only qualm I have with a favorite getting the pimp spot is that I have to suffer through all the others until I get to hear them!

For those who are upset at the performance order, why don’t you watch the show and think from a AI producer and a casual fan who wants to be entertained standpoint.

And see if your Favorite ended the show with his/her performance, would it really a better show?

From an unbiased view, would it be a better show if Adam started off the show? Would it flow better that way? Would it get better ratings?

There’s a world of difference between pimping a contestant by constantly repeating his backstory and pimping one by giving him a better spot.

I wish that the producers *would* put Adam in the early part of the show. That way I can turn the show off once heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s done singing. As it is, I have to watch most of the show each week, just in case they switch the order from the dress rehearsal and move Adam up. Well, I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t actually watch, I have it muted during at least half of the other performancesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦.

I think that’s why they’re doing it. Ratings are going down, and Adam is a reason for people to stick around.

Maybe the producers are giving Adam the pimp spot, for the first time, I might add, since Top 13 started is because he kinda took a beating with that whole Oà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢Reilly thing. Adam is the only contestant that has gotten all this crap about his personal iife splashed all over the press. He has had no control of any of it.

I doubt it. They haven’t given the pimp spot to any other contestants with “controversies” in past season for that reason. Besides, O’Reilly was very professional about it. Hardly a “beating.”

I love love Allison’s choice. I forgot about that song and how much I love it. Someone had said a couple pages back that it’s not rockin’ enough for her, but she’s been rockin’ for weeks, and it hasn’t done her much good. She needs to do something different. I think doing a ballad is perfect. Also, this is an awful thought, but this would be a good exit song because really, if she can’t make people see how awesome she is by now, they’re not gonna. i.e. “I can’t make you love me if you don’t.” I mean, knock on wood! Whatever night he sang “Ring of Fire” he was NOT last half, he was like 5th or 6th. I’m thinking 5th. And that was in the top 11 if I’m not mistaken. So as far as I’m concerned, that’s beginning of the show to me.

It was also a hit from “Urban Cowboy” as sung by Mickey Gilley in 1980.

There have been many covers of I Can’t Make You Love Me, but what made Bonnie’s version was the life experience she brought to the song. You could hear in her voice that she had been there. For me it is too mature a song for Allison, but I have no doubt she will do a respectable job of hitting all the notes.

Re the comments that Anoop can’t keep falling back on slower songs….of course, he can. And he should if he wants to stay in the competition a few more weeks. Vocally, he is really really good and has a greater range than most of the others. His criticisms are mainly about stage presence, but a few dance lessons after the end of the season and he’ll be fine. Since there wasn’t a lot of his kind of R&B available in 1986, True Colors is a good choice.

I agree it is not Adam’s fault that he is going last. Like someone else said, if you are good it shouldn’t matter. Among 8 songs, you either stand out or you don’t.

Eh, I don’t care if people want to bitch out TPTB or have issues with Adam pimping or Danny pimping, or Matt and Lil propping, or Anoop bus throwing, because, well, these tactics are not subtle and basically scream out for a conspiracy theory or twelve. It helps your case, though, if you back up your theory or complaint with some facts. For example, saying “Adam keeps getting the pimp spot” when he hasn’t had it yet (if you don’t count the semis, in which case he had it once) is asking for someone to point out the obvious.

I don’t think Cook got moved to the early half of the show until after Billie Jean, which kind of solidified his co-front runner status. And then yes, after that he broke all kinds of performance order death spot curses. I think the same thing will happen with Adam if he can nail this tune tonight…he’ll get moved to the front of the performance order next week if the producers feel he’s earned a solid voting block and isn’t in danger of slipping through the cracks. If I understand ratings, last week’s ratings went down for the last half hour, which shows that many people turned off before Adam went on stage (he was second to last). So I don’t get this idea that people are waiting for Adam that’s why he always goes in the second half. That’s not what numbers show.

I predicted this is the song she’d do and I’m willing to bet it was plan b or c after not being able to get other songs cleared. Still, I think she will do a great job with it vocally. As far as being too mature, it is a mature song but it is also one of those maudlin songs lyrically that you can relate at least superficially after one teenage broken heart. She should do just fine.

Okay, I’m annoyed at *the producers* (not the first time this season, lol) for always putting Adam in the back half of the show. They’re so obvious this year.

It was OK. Not great, but passable.

He missed alot of the bottom notes, I don’t get it. So does Lil and they love her too, they must like flat notes.

Gokey wasn’t great, I don’t understand why the judges love him so much, to me he’s nothing special.

The very first thing I remember about Danny was his dramatic intro during audition weeks where he burst into tears. Then we had subsequent weeks with more shots of his wife and him. Danny CHOSE to tell that story to the camera in his face.

And yeah the last 2-3 weeks it has been toned down. Cause by then a there were a LOT of people turned off by it.

See the difference? “Oh look a camera, let me share my sob story” versus “here kid you are singing 8th.”

You are welcome to your opinion but you can not deny the facts that Danny is the one who from the get go talked about his wife ON CAMERA.

Don’t you think if you were a person who had their dreams set on being on American Idol and TPTB asked you for your wedding tape and to discuss the death of your wife, you would do it? I don’t see him playing that up. He plays his part on the show and does what is asked of him, but to me he comes out there and sings his head off every week. I still prefer Kris and Adam and even Allison, but I don’t hate Danny. He’s giving it his all like all the others and the other contestants seem to really like him.

I don’t know what to think of Anoop. Obviously I am not on the same page with the judges. I really liked his Motown performance and they didn’t. Tonight was nothing special for me and they loved it. Go figure.

I didn’t think Scott was that bad tonight. They can’t really think Anoop’s performance showed him as one of the best undiscovered talents in America yet he got heaps of praise. Neither were great in my opinion and neither were awful.

Oh, I love this song that Allison is singing. She sounds fantastic. I don’t care what the judges say. I like that she is slowing it down this week. I love this girl.

Allison was good tonight. I thought the song might be too big for her but I think she handled it well. I think she’s the only one who would have a consistent musical career, even more than Adam who I think will be a one album wonder. The novelty will wear off quickly with him.

ShariG – I believe it has been stated before that Scott was born blind as was one of his sisters. But he really has beautiful eyes, doesn’t he?! And it dawned on me as he was singing that he does not know how to emote with his eyes.

Wow. The Adam performance was a-mazing!! I actually really liked the lighting, it gave an eerie, concert-like feeling to it.

Also, to answer the people who were mad about Adam going last: I totally watch the show mostly for him, so I am always happy when he goes last, because it means I will actually be mildly interested in the ones before him. Also, I was really pissed they ran out of time and he was short-changed.

Have others heard the youtube performance of Allison singing Total Eclipse of the Heart? I listened to this in the vey beginning of the season, sometime during the tryouts and it touched me so deeply I actually wept. I don’t remember ever having such a visceral response to a taped ‘nonprofessional’ musical performance and only rarely have I been moved to actual tears during a concert by a known artist… She is something magical in my opinion…

for real the girl touches me at a primal level…and I am a middle aged mama not usually subject to abject musician ‘hero worship’ lol.

All my votes last night went to Allison. I would have split them between her and Adam except I knew Adam would get a lot of votes (he IS awesome) after his outstanding performance last night, and I was afraid Allison might not. After all, she’s been in the bottom three before. I love the girl. She’s got a terrific voice and she’s so young. I can’t imagine how good she might turn out to be with some seasoning and maturity. And she sang one of my favorite all-time songs. In fact, I wrote a book inspired by that song (I’m a writer). Right now, I would be so happy if she and Adam ended up as the top two because no matter which won ultimately took the crown, they’d both get great record contracts, just like the two Davids did last year. I was rooting for David C. all the way last year, though, and this year (so far, at least) I’d be thrilled for either Adam or Allison to get the win.

Scott needs to go home. And, in my opinion, so does Lil. And I’m not fond of Danny. He’s milked his backstory to the point I want to throw up.
