Adam Lambert talks about his upcoming album, Trespassing, with Lyndsey Parker of Yahoo music in this brand new interview. Watch Part 1 below. (Via Yahoo Music)

Adam was able to take his time making the new album, giving him the opportunity to open himself up in a very honest way. The experiences he’s had in the last 2 years have helped him shape who he is as an artist.

The new album brings in a few elements we didn’t see on the 1st album, like funk and disco. And “more of a soul side”. Plus a 90s influence and a little New Wave.

Notes on a couple of the songs that Lyndsey heard:

Cuckoo – Written with Bonnie McKee, this club song is about “owning how crazy I am. I know I’m a little bit insane.” The song has a “funk-swing to it.” with a little 80s hair metal!

Trespassing – There’s a nostalgic feel to it. It’s an anthem that’s meant to inspire people to take a risk and be who they are. Adam worked with Pharrell, who he describes as “cool and down to earth.  Adam wanted to go back to the inspired, creative mindset he had before all the craziness and pressures of the business set in.

Kickin’ In is another song Adam collaborated on with Pharrell. It’s got a throw back to Michael Jackson or Prince.

As a side note, Adam anticipates performing with the legendary Queen again, but he can’t reveal the details yet.

He’s so articulate and intelligent.  The more he talks about this album the more excited I get, not because I get every musical reference he’s making (in fact I don’t get most if I’m honest) but because he’s so excited.  He has obviously poured his heart into this project and for that reason alone I hope it does well.

Lyndsey Parker is a great interviewer. I love that she gets more information from artists. I am so excited to hear the album I hope that the music lives up to the hype from all of the reviews! Not everybody is going to like everything but I hope I love it. I cannot wait to see part II of the interview.

Tess, that is interesting about the hands. I’ve never heard that before. I’m a hand talker, too, so I’ve always been kind of amused and delighted by his gesticulations.

I love the Lyndsey interview (pt 2 to come – Yay!) but Adam doesn’t really need an interviewer. Just give him a mike & a camera & say GO! He is so articulate about his musical vision. And everything else too!

I hope Lyndsey doesn’t make us wait all day for part 2!

I don’t know if anyone is still visiting this thread, but I hope so! Because some new interviews have popped up from Adam’s big interview day.

Here is an AccessHollywood Dish of Salt interview segment about being in love and its impact on Adam’s life and his music:

    And an Insider.com interview: http://www.theinsider.com/music/49142_Adam_Lambert_Trespassing_Interview/index.html

They’re all good interviews – Adam shares a lot of his thinking about the music and his state of mind at the moment. One thing that’s new in the “being in love” segment is that he talks about what the song “Chokehold” is about. And in the “fan questions” segment, he appears to shoot down rumors of an Olympics appearance with Queen.

And in the “fan questions” segment, he appears to shoot down rumors of an Olympics appearance with Queen.

I’m glad he cleared up that rumor and let us know that he’s not performing at the Olympics. Sure I would have loved it, but since it’s not going to happen I’d rather know now than later. I also heard a rumor about the Sonisphere rock festival, but Brian May shot that one down on his blog.

Whatever gig or gigs he’s got with Queen are probably still in the works, it makes sense that he can’t let us know until all the contracts are signed.

Lyndsay Parker’s part 2 interview is now up! Talks about the dark side of the album:

    http://music.yahoo.com/blogs/reality-rocks/adam-lambert-discusses-shady-side-straight-jackets-nastiness-233906106.html

Wow that was fantastic! So much richness and depth in what he said. And so many details about songs — including one we haven’t heard about before (Naked Love).

I get teary just hearing his verbal descriptions of some of these vulnerable songs on the “dark side.” I can only imagine what a wreck I’m going to be to hear him actually singing them.

Naked Love and Chokehold sound sooooooo….I don’t even know, I just gotta have them! That ENews segment was excellent, he had a busy day with interviews for sure.
