This week’s milestones featuring a duo of debuts and a duo of milestones from one artist. Kelly Clarkson, Idol’s Season 1 winner, keeps racking up those milestones. This week, she hit top 10 on HAC with her debut song from her fifth album. “Mr. Know It All” also achieved top 20 on AC. The song is currently charting in three formats and seems to have her well positioned for her Oct 25th album release.
Scotty McCreery, Idol’s latest winner, has achieved top 50 with his debut single from his first album. “The Trouble With Girls” actually moved into the top 50 last week, but due to the quirks of the Mediabase chart, we didn’t get to see that until mid-week. Some may consider this his second single, but coronation singles are generally regarded as separate beasts from the debut albums.
Daughtry, who splits the difference by coming from the 5th season, also has a new debut single out. “Crawling Back To You” is the lead-off single from his third album and it wasted no time getting on the chart. It was released to radio last week and has already jumped into the top 40 on HAC and is quickly closing in on top 30.
This week, Brad’s and Carrie’s duet “Remind Me” went recurrent on Country.
