  1. Yeah…another week on the BB200 for Adam! (I’m easy to please.) Eventually he will be off it. I’m gonna miss seeing his name there. :-(

  2. Great to see Fantasia on the BB200 alone with Carrie, Daughtry and Adam.

  3. WooHoo Adam still in top BB200 but I think they need to release Sleepwalker to sell more. Tee Hee Tee Hee (yeah I want another single)

Yes, great to see Adam still in the Top 200 after almost a year. I am positive Adam will get another single and pretty sure you will get your wish for SW. I have a little tiny hope too that while SW is charting here in the states, Fever does so well overseas that it comes back here for the beginning of next year. Yes, I know he will probably have a new single and album to promote, but it would be great to hear Fever here, even if organically.

As much as Adam says Spring/early Summer of 2011 for an album release, he has a lot on his plate and these things always seem to take longer than anyone expects. I am guessing it will be at least June or July before we even see a single from it.
Plenty of time for Sleepwalker to do it’s Holiday magic here and for the overseas success of Fever to kick in in the US right about time our own spring fever hits us in late February.

    It could happen!

Hey, we can dream right? I am willing to wait a bit on new material if it means FYE gets more exposure. There are so many great tracks on it, I am not tired of it yet, LOL!

  8. I too think SW is a no-brainer for being released in the fall. IIHY is doing well (especially with all of those beautiful adds yesterday :-) ) And IMO SW is a very easy, cheaper sell to radio, with WWFM having been so easily embraced by US radio. Plus it fits the moodier fall vibe so well.

  9. Does anyone have the sales for the singles yet? Count me as a HUGE Sleepwalker fan. I love the song, especially as Adam sang it on Leno. I hope it gets released. I agree with Jay when he told Adam he thought that song would be his biggest hit to date. I also noticed that people were saying that the song Sure Fire Winners was sent to the Hit Predictor website. Anyone know anything about that?

  10. I agree with Jay when he told Adam he thought that song would be his biggest hit to date.

The Tedder connection also helps, and it’s a really hooky, strong Tedder creation too.

  11. Releasing another Adam single depends on 1)where the album is on the BB200 and 2)where IIHY peaks and how well it sells.

They won’t issue another single until IIHY peaks. If the album is off or on the bottom of the BB200 at that point, they may stop issuing singles. Especially if he’s supposedly releasing his next album in the spring (which is hard to believe but I guess is happening).

  12. I also noticed that people were saying that the song Sure Fire Winners was sent to the Hit Predictor website. Anyone know anything about that?

From what I can tell sending a song to Hit predictor wesite has no say on anything lol….they sent Fever awhile back to…I think they just do it to get hits IHMO

  14. I don’t think it means anything that SFW was sent to Hit Predictor. Supposedly, some times they take fan suggestions on what to send to that site. For instance, I got all excited when AWM was on Hit Predictor, but I’ve also seen CSA and BWCU on there in recent weeks. And I have read that other songs off Adam’s album have already been on HP as well

  15. Especially if he’s supposedly releasing his next album in the spring (which is hard to believe but I guess is happening).

Spring also ends June 21st. Lots of time, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Maybe new single in Spring though.

35k, nice! Hard to believe WWFM is still selling 10k after all this time.

  16. Well if IIHY keeps going on this trajectory Adam should hit gold in a month…nice!!

  17. This is my weekly guesstimate, based on where his album, TT and LLWD were on iTunes this past week, in comparison to the songs Brian M did get #s for. This is only a guess…nothing more…

    TT (album version only) 5-6K
    LLWD 3-4K
    KATA 1-2K

  18. 35K nice! IIHY selling well is good to see! WWFM continues to amaze with another 10K. I never thought it would catch up to LLWD which also sold well for a long time. The success of of IIHY is probably helping.

  19. Carrie is that chick, and Daughtry’s album is over a year old and selling well despite no huge singles. Fanny’s drop is about normal, and Adam’s still hanging in there. Not a bad week for the idols.

  20. This is only a guess…nothing more…

    TT (album version only) 5-6K
    LLWD 3-4K
    KATA 1-2K

I understand you are guessing, but if Brian has Carrie’s numbers at 3,000 for Last Name, why wouldn’t he have Kris’s numbers for The Truth on the list if they approached 5K?

Forgive me if this has been asked before!

  21. I understand you are guessing, but if Brian has Carrie’s numbers at 3,000 for Last Name, why wouldn’t he have Kris’s numbers for The Truth on the list if they approached 5K?

Below a certain level, Brian only has access to the country lists.

  22. Below a certain level, Brian only has access to the country lists.

Thanks! So there is really no way to know for sure? That’s wacked.

I do not think any of us knows what standard RCA has for releasing another single in the US. If RCA releases an Acoustic FYE EP and a live GNT Concert DVD, as Adam and RCA Ed have said is planned, they will probably release another single to promote these new products — even if FYE is not one the Billboard 200.

FYE will most likely still be on the Billboard 200 in mid-October which is probably after IIHY peaks, but RCA Records Group often releases new singles for albums that have fallen off the Billboard 200. And I have never heard this as a magic line for any decision-making. In my experience, the labels look at incremental revenue and profit forecasts from an investment, not chart ranking. An incremental sale of FYE at this point (well over 1 million sold worldwide — initial costs recouped) is highly profitable for RCA.

Regarding the schedule for a new album — Adam has consistently said he will be back in the studio working on the album starting in November 2010, that the lead single will be out in Spring and the album Spring or maybe summer. Single in March or April, album in June seems to fit that and is completely achievable.

We now have info that he will be in Scandinavia on 11/5/10 (Finland concert on 11/6/10) maybe sooner and he doesn’t have a concert in Germany until 11/12/10. That gives them plenty of time to schedule a day or two with Max Martin.

We also know he will be working with Dr. Luke again (in the Kidd Kraddick interview yesterday) in December. Looks to me like the planning for this album is well underway.

What is the basis for all the skepticism? Has Adam ever talked about a schedule and not hit it? Other artist put out albums 18 month apart. Why can’t Adam? From everything we know about him and his work style, he is very business-like and can multi-task. He also has a much easier task this time. When he put out FYE, there was a lot of skepticism about a male pop singer making it and about how far Adam could move from his Idol classic rock music and keep a large percentage of his fans. Now he knows he can do pop music — hence the two producers that we know of for Adam #2 — Max Martin and Dr. Luke.

They confirmed that they decided to put SFW on Hit Predictor. They also had Pick U Up on Hit Predictor with no explanation and that seems like another fan request– very unlikely Adam/RCA would release a single he hasn’t ever sung live and the he says is vocally too challenging to sing live regularly. (Adam also confirmed that they were rehearsing PUU! So just maybe it will be performed live someday.)

  26. They confirmed that they decided to put SFW on Hit Predictor.

Who confirmed and when? I missed that.

  27. Why does Adam need a new single support a DVD or an acoustic FYE album? Those are items usually bought by the devoted fans who won’t need a new single to get them to buy.

“In my experience, the labels look at incremental revenue and profit forecasts from an investment, not chart ranking. An incremental sale of FYE at this point (well over 1 million sold worldwide — initial costs recouped) is highly profitable for RCA.”

What’s an incremental sale? Does selling 1K or 2K albums a week quality? There are tons of older albums that sell 1-3K a week without the added expense of a new single.

  30. Curse my laptop’s left mouse button being broken, but Adam said in the latest Kid interview, that he would begin making music after the tour, so after December (they were talking about taking the holidays off before beginning, IIRC). So can he release a single in spring? Sure. Spring is until June 21st, after all. But he’s also said that he wants to take more time with this album than he was allowed on his last one. do more writing. So we’ll see how long it really will be before single and/or album are made/released.

    Danke, HotHotHotand girlygirl, appreciated. :)

  31. Why does Adam need a new single support a DVD or an acoustic FYE album? Those are items usually bought by the devoted fans who won’t need a new single to get them to buy.

I think you just answered your own question. Current devoted fans will buy the DVD and an acoustic EP without a single but a new single and it’s promotion will help sell them to new fans.

  32. What’s an incremental sale? Does selling 1K or 2K albums a week quality? There are tons of older albums that sell 1-3K a week without the added expense of a new single.

First of all Adam is selling 4-5K a week and second if a new single can push even more sales worldwide then it is worth it. IMHO. Yes there are older albums selling 1-3K a week without a single but did those albums have a single that most likely will be another platinum single for the artist. The holidays are coming they will want to take advantage of getting the best buck they can. IMHO

  33. adam, seriesly why he dont change things for good?max martin and dr.luke again!

i dont know whats he thinking, monte is like guitar hero and heavy metal kind and he want do pop!
i wish he come with something new, goth, punk, rock like TCB.

    i wish him best.

  34. and awsome album cover,he have to much potential, sometimes i think he make bad decision, thats all.

My interpretation: Any increase is an incremental increase. The key is how much each incremental increase in sales is going to cost. For example, say another 1K copies/week of an album can be sold for a five week period for a single investment of $10,000. That means 5,000 copies sold at approx. $10/album grosses $50,000. Subtract the $10,000 investment and you get a $40,000 profit. If the album costs have not all been recovered yet, they have to be subtracted out, making the overall profit lower. If, however, the album costs have already been recovered (as with FYE) that $40,000 would be all profit. When deciding which albums to market past their initial release, they look at total profit they can expect from further investment in the albums. This goes for both new and old albums. They likely have a separate division/group that works on getting exposure for older material in appropriate outlets (eg. American Idol).

For newer pop albums, one of the things they will consider is releasing another single from the album. If the money from the album production has already been recovered, then any addition sales of the album combined with any additional sales of the single are subtracted from the investment in a new single and the end result is all profit. They’ll run their little calculators, making their best guesses as to what going to happen and make their decision based upon the result.

  36. I think it also depends on how they plan to package the ep and dvd. Right now in Japan, they are releasing a package called the Glamorous Edition that includes, FYE and a DVD of the AOL Sessions, Clearchannel Stripped sessions, the music videos and a “making of IIHY” video and a calendar. Singapore is releasing a “glambox” which is all of the above except instead of a calendar you get a mousepad and you get a CD of the IIHY remixes.

I could see them packaging the EP and Concert DVD in a deluxe package for the holidays along with the CD, as well as selling the two separately. A new single could increase sales of the deluxe package. Who knows what they’re going to do though. I gave up trying to figure it out long ago and just ride the wave….

  37. I’m always amazed at Carrie’s staying power. A money making machine.

Adam is doing great with I Had You! I think he’s been slowly wearing down the skeptics. To me, he should redo Fever and feature GaGa, if she’d do it, for the next single. Would transition into her next album and probably push Adam platinum.

  38. always mystery, why adam singles sell platinium but not his album?IIHY,fever,SFW and FYE they my favorite.
    please vote.
