David Cook Returns with New Album “Digital Vein,” and An Interesting Idea for “American Idol’s” Final Season – Digital Vein showcases David’s new approach to songwriting, which he developed after moving to Nashville three years ago and working with that city’s famous songwriting talent. In fact, he even wrote a top 20 hit for country singer David Nail during that time. “Some of the greatest storytellers in the music industry are in Nashville,” he tells ABC Radio. “Moving to Nashville and kind of taking the blinders off and allowing myself to be inspired by, you know, not only what was in front of me but was to the left or the right, I think really kinda helped shape the storytelling on this record.” – Read more at ABC Radio

David Archuleta opens up about touring, dating, music, and Idaho

Joey Cook’s upcoming album will have a heavy 757 influence – And her first “big girl album” will have a heavy Peninsula influence. Yorktown native Cody Bowers is playing drums, bass and guitar on the album, and Zach and Megan Moats of the Hampton band Dharma Initiative will also contribute keyboards and harmonies. “The album is going to have a weird ‘variety show’ feel to it,” Cook said during a break in recording at the Music Shed studio in New Orleans. “It will have just about every genre of music. There’s some ska, some bluegrass, some surf rock.” The album does not yet have a name. Cook said she is aiming for seven songs, many of which will sound familiar to Peninsula residents who attended those open mic nights. – Read more at Daily Press.com

Big Brother: Johnny Mac says ‘everyone in there is boring’ – ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You referenced that Liz was less than subtle when showing her recent excitement before the vote. What tipped you off that Vanessa was about to vote you out? JOHN McGUIRE: Liz was really excited after that veto competition, more excited than she should be if she thought she was on the outs. She was walking around the house and was very happy, and even when she was nominated, she could not have been more excited. Vanessa had been sketchy the past few days so I knew it was time. – Read more at EW.com

‘Big Brother 17’: Julie Chen Talks Disliking “BB Takeover,” Why Show Has Never Been Nominated for Emmy – “I do love this game. My husband and I talk about it all day long,” she told reporters. On Austin’s ponytail beard: “It’s dreadful to be honest. It’s just so bad and I was trying not to stare at it because I knew if I stared at it too long it would be uncomfortable and I would lose my focus.” You compared Vanessa to Dr. Will, why don’t you think she owns that she is this strategic player like Dan, Derrick and Dr. Will have done in the past? I think it’s a little bit more difficult for women to say that they are the villain. I think women have this thing where at the end of the day they want to be liked and that’s what she’s feeling. I don’t think she wants to be booed by the public and that’s why she’s not taking ownership for all her evil doings. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

Julie Chen on who has the best chance of winning Big Brother – I have to guess that both Vanessa and Steve are looking to bring Liz to the finals. Of the three finalists, who do you think has the best chance of winning Big Brother? Vanessa has the best chance and certainly played the hardest. But Steve played his own game in a way we’ve never seen before. If they are the final two, it’s hard to say how the jury will vote. Emotionally? Or logically? Perhaps both and it could come down to Liz being the swing vote. That is, if Liz doesn’t make it herself to the final two…which she could if she wins the final HOH. – Read more at EW.com

Nashville Season 4: EP Teases Flatline Resolution (‘Rayna’s World Will Never Be the Same’), Will Backlash & More – Fortunately, Johnson can answer several other burning questions we have in advance of the ABC series’ Sept. 23 return (10/9c). Will Juliette make up with Avery (and Rayna)? Will Will regret his bold declaration at last season’s press conference? Will Scarlett and Gunnar be able to keep their musical partnership platonic? Read on for the Music City lowdown. – Read more at TVLine.com
