HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Sep 26-Oct 2

For the next two weeks, we will have exciting new Idol albums to track. And then a break and another one to track. For now, we have to make do with some duets and a bunch of other people.

With 54.02% of the market reporting in, J Cole is set to sail to a clear victory. Cole has been met with a lot of “Who?” around the net this week, but the fans of his genre (Rap) know who he is and love him. Earlier this year, Vibe listed him at number 5 on their list of greatest rappers under 30. Just goes to show that there are bubbles for everything. This is his debut album after a bunch of mixed tapes type thingies.

Our old friend Adele continues to plant herself in the top 3 and this week, she is number 2 with over 100K in sales. The woman is a selling machine and who can begrudge somebody moving that many units based on singing quality songs incredibly well? I don’t see how she can be denied this award season.

Blink-182 debuts in 3rd, Lady Antebellum is in 4th (third week of album release), Tony Bennett featuring a duet with Carrie Underwood continues to sell well at 5th. Lil Wayne continues to move those units proving the first week sales of “Tha Carter IV” were no fluke (and that critics and buyers don’t always agree). Wilco and Chickent foot are debuting at 7th and 8th respectively. Brantly Gilbert is 9th and Jason Aldean featuring a duet with Kelly Clarkson is 10th. That album was released in August of 2010 so that is some impressive party that Jason is having.

Carrie Underwood has a duet on Brad Paisley’s latest album which is currently at 40th while Jacke Evancho’s first album (after her successful Christmas EP last year) is sitting at 42nd. Voice judge Blake is sitting at 24 and Adam’s Maroon 5’s album is perched at 47th.

Other somewhat notable albums are the re-release of Nirvana’s Nevermind currently at 20th and Kara’s protege Jason Derulo debuting at 37th.
