UPDATE: Carrie Underwood WON for Favorite Country Album, according to Fred Bronson. She’s not in LA to accept her award, so it likely won’t be announced on air. Taylor Swift beats out Carrie for Favorite Female Country Artist.
Justin Beiber won 3 awards: Favorite Pop Rock Artist, Breakout Artist of the Year and Artist of the Year.

Carrie Underwood, the only Idol nominated is up for Favorite Female Artist – Country and Favorite Country Album for Play On. She won’t be in the audience to accept her award–she’s in Canada with her husband. Danny Gokey interviewed celebrities on the AMA red carpet.
Justin Bieber, Usher, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Kid Rock, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Carlos Santana, Ne-Yo, Christina Aguilera, Diddy-Dirty, Bon Jovi, P!nk and the Backstreet Boys with the New Kids On The Block are expected to take the AMA stage tonight.

- Heidi Klum takes the stage to present Favorite Soul R&B album to Usher for Raymond v. Raymond
- Jenny McCarthy and John Legend present Favorite Band, Duo or Group to the Black Eyed Peas
- Enriquo Rodriquez and Eric Stonestreet from Modern Family introduce Enrique Iglesias feat. Pitbull. How is it that Enrique Iglesias is showing up everywhere these days? He’s boring, but I kinda like Pitbull. “Baby I Like It” with a full drum corps! Whee!
- Miley Cyrus takes the stage, “It’s all About Forgiveness and Love”. Rumor had it, she was supposed to sing “Every Rose Has its Thorn” tonight. But after the rumors broke about her mom stepping out with Bret Michaels. NOW she singing about “forgiveness.” Girl can’t sing.
- CARRIE UNDERWOOD WINS AMA FOR FAVORITE COUNTRY ALBUM for Play On, according to @IdolsNow (Not presented on air)
- P. Diddy Puffy Puff Daddy or whatever the eff he’s calling himself now takes the stage with some boring whatevah.
- Favorite Country Female Artist goes to…Taylor Swift.
- Kid Rock sings about Detroit! Kid Rock goes country. He’s actually not a bad singer. The lack of auto-tuning and lip-syncing is refreshing.
- Christina Milian and Johnny Weir present Favorite Latin Music Artist to Shakira who is not there. Johnny offers to take her award home.
- The Black Eyed Peas sing their new song, which includes snips from “I Had the Time of My Life” Uhm. Dancers have crazy square boxes on their heads. Those peas are so CRRRAZZZY.
- Katie Perry performs “Firework” with a kiddie choir. EEP she sounds like CRAP. And she’s wearing some big red dress thingy.
- Taio Cruz, Nicki Minaj, and Trey Songs present the Favorite Female Soul R&B Artist to Rihanna.
- Willow “Whip My Hair” Smith introduces THE BIEB (Justin Bieber) who sings “Pray”. He begins sitting at the piano and then gets up to work the stage. And of course, a big gospel choir joins in. Unfortunately, I have to admit he does not suck.
- Mandy Moore and Sheryl Crowe present Favorite Country Male Artist to Brad Paisley
- Bon Jovi takes the stage. They sing some stuff including “You Give Love a Bad Name”. They still got it going on.
- Natasha Bedingfield takes the stage to present the T Mobile Breakthrough artist of the year to…Justin Bieber. SHOCK. Not.
- Kelly Osbourne takes the stage to introduce the Very Pregnant Pink who sings “Raise Your Glass”. LOVE YOU PINK!!!! The crazy guy in a sling was from the Dan Band
- Ne-Yo takes the stage to sing a medley of his songs. He’s got the hat and the Michael Jackson moves going
- Taylor Swift is next to warble “Back to December” off key. I did not recognize her on the red carpet. She tags “Apologize” into her performance. Uhm. Interesting?
- Keri Hilson presents Favorite Male Pop Rock to Justin Bieber
- Christina Aguilera premiers a new song from her movie Burlesque. Not liking this song so much, but Christina sounds awesome.
- The peeps from Castle explain the voting rules and then presents Best Country Duo or Group to Lady Antebellum
- Usher takes the stage to sing “DJ Got Us Falling In Love Again”.
- Avril Lavign presents Favorite Alternative Rock Artist to Muse
- Train takes the stage to sing “Marry Me” and then that annoying “Hey Soul Sister” What the eff happened to his hair?

- Michael Chiklis and Julie Benz take the stage to introduce Ke$ha–who is confusing me. She fake plays a guitar before she holds it up. It has the word hate crossed out on the back.
- Gavin Rossdale is singing “Bang a Gong” and “Take me To the River” mashed together. Santana is on guitar. That was interesting.
- Lady Antebellum take the stage to present Favorite Male R&B Artist to Usher.
- Ryan Seacrest presents Artist of the Year to Justin Bieber. Justin invites his mentor Usher to share his award.
- The Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block share the stage to sing their best loved songs. Sads. Brian Littrel sounds like crap.
