X Factor’s Fifth Harmony Signed to Syco and Epic Records

Congrats to Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Normani Hamilton, Dinah Jane Hansen, and Lauren Jauregui–the girls of X Factor girl group Fifth Harmony. They have been signed by Simon Cowell and Epic records, reports People magazine.

“I knew from the girls’ first performance at the judges’ homes that we’d done the right thing,” Cowell, in an exclusive statement, tells PEOPLE of Fifth Harmony. “The chemistry between the girls both on stage and off is fantastic, and they are incredibly talented.”

“The fact that we’re being given the opportunity to make music that we want feels like a dream we never want to wake up from. I literally have to pinch myself,” says Cabello, who is known to fans for her signature hair bows.

The group’s debut album will be executive produced by Julian Bunetta (whose credits include One Direction, Boys II Men and Leona Lewis), but the girls seem most excited to be reunited with each other in the recording studio after being apart for the holidays.

“I am going to have a blast working with my girls,” Brooke says. “I promise we are going to bring it.”

Good luck, girls!

Press Release:

(January 17th, 2013- Los Angeles, CA) The X Factor girl group Fifth Harmony have signed a recording deal with Syco Music and Epic Records.

They amassed a legion of fans and won America’s heart on the past season of The X Factor with their breathtaking vocals and inspirational friendship, this week they’ve been pronounced ‘Next Pop Superstar of 2013’ by PopDust, and now Fifth Harmony’s Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Normani Hamilton, Dinah Jane Hansen, and Lauren Jauregui are set to take the pop world by storm as they head to the studio to record their debut album.

Ally Brooke said, “OMG!! I’m so looking forward to working with the great Mr. LA Reid and of course my uncle Simon!! Rudolph (Simon calls me Rudolph) is ready to go!! I am going to have a BLAST recording with my girls and working with L.A. and Simon. I promise we’re gonna bring it for our FLAWESOME Harmonizers!”

Camila Cabello said, “Being introduced to the Syco and Epic family means the world to us. We get to learn from and work with the best in the business, people who have built the careers of artists we look up to. The fact that we’re being given the opportunity to make music that we want feels like a dream we never want to wake up from, and I literally just have to pinch myself. Simon Cowell is freaking awesome. On the show, we grew very close to him. He genuinely cared about us, not only as contestants, but as people, and we’re so grateful to have people like him and L.A. Reid as part of our lives.”

Normani Hamilton said “The X Factor and Simon have given me and my Fifth Harmony sisters this wonderful opportunity to pursue our dreams. Becoming apart of one of the largest record labels in the industry plays a major role in making our dreams a reality. I am extremely excited to be signed to Syco and Epic Records.”

Syco Music’s Simon Cowell, who was Fifth Harmony’s mentor during The X Factor, said, “I knew from the girls’ first performance at judges’ homes in Miami that we’d done the right thing. The chemistry between the Fifth Harmony girls both on and off stage is fantastic. They are really great girls, who have become best friends. They’re great fun to be around and most importantly, they are all incredibly talented.”

Fifth Harmony was born from a collection of talented solo artists who clicked first as friends during The X Factor Boot Camp, but quickly discovered an undeniable vocal chemistry together. At the suggestion of mentor Simon Cowell, the girls became the group now known as ‘Fifth Harmony’. Fifth Harmony has a show-stopping sound, an infectious sense of fun, and they are all richly talented vocalists. A fan favorite and darling among the judges, L.A. Reid deemed them “magical” with Britney Spears saying, “Magic happens when you guys perform – it’s spectacular, girly and fun.”

Fifth Harmony’s debut album will be A&R’d by Syco Music and executive produced by multi platinum selling producer/songwriter Julian Bunetta (One Direction, Boyz II Men, Flo Rida, Natasha Bedingfield, Leona Lewis), who first worked with the girl group as a music producer on The X Factor. The album will also feature collaborations with songwriters Autumn Rowe (Cher Lloyd, Alexandra Burke, Leona Lewis) and Lil’ Eddie (Usher, Pink, Jessie J, Cody Simpson).

Bunetta said, “I had the pleasure of working with the girls of Fifth Harmony on The X Factor, and I am very excited to continue to work together on their debut album with Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid. It was remarkable to watch these five young women from across America go from being strangers to becoming a true group of friends who all care for each other and believe in each other. I believe pop music is overdue for a girl group that can represent the young ladies of this new generation. Fifth Harmony is that group.”

Fifth Harmony are Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Normani Hamilton, Dinah Jane Hansen, and Lauren Jauregui. They were five girls (ages 15-19) from across the country that auditioned for The X Factor USA as solo artists. They joined forces as a group and captured America’s imagination with their contagious charisma, breath-taking vocals and inspirational sisterhood. They came into the competition as five girls with the same dream and made it to the finale and top 3.

From the press release, Syco will do the A&R part of the job. And the guy who really mentored the girls during the show is in charge. It was the same with One Direction, so good luck to the girls.

    Good Luck to them!

I was expecting they would be signed. I also think Carly won’t be signed.

Woot! I can’t wait for the album!

So exciting!!! SYCO already has the press release as well. Very happy for the girls, well deserved!!

What a contrast to the announcement of Tate’s signing with Syco/Sony Nashville. I hope that pathetic announcement for Tate will be followed up by a decent press release, but I have a feeling that I shouldn’t hold my breath.

    Aha! The official press release!

It’s nicely done — after taking the usual 20% markdown on effusive adjectives, there’s a clear story for who these gals are and why they’re supposed to be interesting, plus some appealing teen bubbliness.

(But winner Tate Stevens is The Man With No Adjectives.)

Now get started on the album, Simon! Don’t wait around like you did with Melanie!

This is great! I’m happy for them.

I ran in the room to tell my sister. Y’all know she is obsessed with them. She tried to play it off but I cracked the door when I left and she was fangirling like crazy. Well if nothing else they should feel comfort in knowing one person in Texas will buy their CD. Congrats girls.

This is exactly what I thought…wow, what a difference compared to Tate’s announcement.  I liked these girls, too, but it would seem like they’d at least make a show of supporting the winner of the show…

Very good for them. They’re a talented group of girls. All the luck.

I find it very interesting how Simon seems to be involved in this. He has tweeted a lot about them.

Yay…I will be expecting a single by late summer thanx

  • girlygirltoo

Not surprised. This will be interesting to see how they do — true pop girl groups have not been successful in the US for years and years. The few that have had success are r&b and/or rhythmic leaning ones. So will the label try and take the girls more in that direction?

    Good luck to them!

  • sjames08

They hit the chord when they sang ‘Anything Could Happen.’ Yes they’re first performance at the judge’s house was SENSATIONAL but we all know that won’t sell on the radios. I do hope they stick along ACH and have lots Camilla on there, haha. She seems to be the fan favourite on Tumblr (if they’re fangirling over you guys on there, you’re sure to make a hit).

Congrats Fifth Harmony!!  I keep hearing you everywhere.

Hopefully Carly will be signed.  It will be a shame if everyone in top 4 are except her.  Because I will always maintain that Carly is the most talented.

this was the one announcement i was waiting for. so excited.

I am so excited about this. I love how the gals gelled and worked together. They have the voice, personality, and look for a great pop group. Best of luck to them!

  • Nadine_Bitch

    Yay, congrats girls!

  • jdanton2

Happy to see it official for them . hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for a single.
