BRACE YOURSELF FOR A MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT FROM X FACTOR WINNER TATE STEVENS!

Never finishing lower than second in the voting, America chose country singer Tate Stevens as the winner of Season two of Simon Cowell’s The X Factor.

Stevens has signed a record deal with Syco Music/RCA Records Nashville and is currently writing and recording his debut album set to be released this spring.

PSYCH. Yeah. That’s the extent of X Factor winner, Tate Stevens’, record label signing announcement. Three tiny paragraphs. PARTY.

Wow–I see what you’re saying, MJ.  Just having read these things for these last two years (since AI 10)…they’re usually so much more effusive.  I really hope they’re not setting Tate up to fail with lack of promotion and actual investment in the guy, but then again…he does have the record deal.

I honestly can’t remember–was Melanie signed with so little fanfare?

  • sporkle

Wow. That might be the shortest deal-signing announcement I’ve ever seen …

  • kmd23

Great news for Tate to be on the Sony Nashville label. He will now have all their connections to country music and country music stations.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    “Three tiny paragraphs.”

Actually, 2 tiny paragraphs. The bottom is simply a caption to the photo. So nice that SYCO/SONY Nashville are expressing such enthusiasm for having Tate on their roster. lol

Are these the same jokers that cut Kellie Pickler from the roster? If so, I don’t have a good feeling for this guys longevity with this label.

I know! The look of excitement on Jim Cantino’s face says it all. “OK. We fulfilled our end of the deal with XFactor. Now, can we get out of here? I’ve got meetings to attend.”

Poor Tate. Or any XFactor/The Voice winner for that matter.

Either Simon has learned his lesson about waiting so long for the winner’s album or he is about to hang Tate out to dry hard because we all know Simon hates country and will spend his time with Emblem3. I say the latter.

  • girlygirltoo

    Wow, that announcement is brief.

But at least it seems like they will try to get his new music out in a timely manner.

Well, ya can’t say that press release over-sells Stevens.

Opening with a dangling participle gives that extra sense of down-home casualness, or possibly of “nobody cared enough to proofread or run the grammar checker.”

I hope Stevens is feeling energetic about fighting for a worthwhile strategy, and that he’s found a copy of the Human-to-Label translation dictionary to help him out.

The press release for Emblem3′s signing looks like a bible compare to this 2 sentence release statement.

  • cheese1

    “Tate Stevens – He’s OK (I guess)”
    -Sony Nashville

  • fuzzywuzzy

    You’re right. It’s not even 2 paragraphs, it’s 2 sentences!

Sounds like Tate will be quickly dumped on the market, while they turn their resources and energy onto Emblem 3.

“Tate Stevens – He’s OK (I guess)” -Sony Nashville

    Hilarious.

I am surprised he was signed by RCA they already have a lot of people on their roster, Arista has fewer artist and Columbia only has 4 artists. I would have guessed he would have been signed there.

The biggest problem that Kellie had with being at Sony is that she was labelmates with two of the biggest solo female artist (Carrie & Miranda).

I love Kellie but if I was running the label and could only keep 2 of the 3, that choice is a easy one to make.

I’m not even a fan but I’m pretty sure, despite that, he’ll sell mroe than Emblem3. lol

ETA: I’m not saying he’ll sell well. I’m saying he’ll sell more records than Emblem3.

  • teacup

I don’t think he’s going to have much of a career. Good luck.

  • kmd23

I think Tate is doing well. He is signed to a major county music label (Sony Nashville), he is writing and recording a county album that is going to be released in the Spring, and he lives in Nashville now. Since he has 2 folks from Vector management in that picture I am assuming they might be managing him.  Vector management is a major Nashville music management company. Oh isn’t he also performing in a new Pepsi commercial during the Grammys. I would say things are going good for Tate. lol.

    LOL.

    LOL!

It’s not just the lack of supportive Simon/LA Reid quotes in the PR. It’s also the fact that Gary Overton didn’t even bother with a “We’re so pleased to have the talented Tate Stevens join us at Sony Nashville. His performances on XFactor proved his genuine country sensibilities and we look forward to creating an album that showcases his strong voice and his great story.”

Maybe that’ll come in later weeks but it’s odd that they would put out a press release with a photo and not dress it up at all.

Just as spaghetti Westerns had Clint Eastwood as The Man With No Name, country music can have Tate Stevens as The Man With No Adjectives.

Tate Stevens: He needs no descriptors. He simply is.

Oh, once upon a time I laid cement,
    Thought X-Factor was heaven-sent.
Packed my guitar and I packed my hat,
Signed on the line to make Cowell’s wallet fat.

    Chorus:
Now I love my dog and I love my wife,
Love my guitar and I love my life,
Love my label and my Wrangler jeans,
Truckin’ on down the road to my dreams.

The Pepsi in my right hand makes it hard to steer,
But Pepsi is the sponsor, so I cannot have a beer.

    [repeat chorus]

  • windmills

I see beer, trucks, guitars, and jeans in the lyrics. Therefore, congratulations on writing the next country smash!!

    (Also, hilarious!)

Eilowny: Just as spaghetti Westerns had Clint Eastwood as The Man With No Name, country music can have Tate Stevens as The Man With No Adjectives.

Tate Stevens: He needs no descriptors. He simply is.

OMG, I almost fell off my chair laughing.

Thanks tripp_ncwy for the Melanie PR. The contrast is striking.
