X Factor UK Season 9: Week 6 Results

Who is going home?

Last night was a pretty good night for the remaining 7 acts.

Who is going home? Rylan’s time on the show is coming to an end, but after last week’s bottom 2 appearance and last night’s fun performance, maybe he can avoid another bottom 2 appearance?

Chris Maloney was awfully karaoke, but Liverpool is voting for him. However, if he lands in the bottom 2, he is gone. Some tabloids (reliable in the past) claim that he is topping the votes every week. If Chris wins, I expect him to release an album of covers right before Mother’s Day. Then they will quietly drop him before the start of the next season and airbrush him out of the X Factor history.

Both boybands District3 and Union J could end up in the bottom. If that happens, I expect Union J to survive the vote.
Could one of the BIG 3 (Jahmene, James, Ella) land in the bottom?

Ed Sheeran and Little Mix perform tonight. Ed Sheeran pre-recorded his performance, but Little Mix are performing live tonight.

According to TV Guide, tonight’s show airs at 8:00pm BST (3:00pm EDT, 12:00pm PDT) on ITV1 (60min). The Xtra Factor airs at 09:00pm BST (60min) on ITV2.

Where to watch the show? If you are in the UK or can get UK IP, watch on ITV.com. Possible alternatives: TV Nutters, TVPC.com.

Please post working live feed links in the comments section below as you find them!

The show started. More Ed Sheeran/Little Mix teasers. The judges all look beautiful tonight.

The lines are still open and Dermot is now reciting the numbers.

TOP 7 sing U2’s “Beautiful Day”. Hmm, this doesn’t fit the theme, U2 are Irish? I must say, the finalists don’t sound that bad on this song. Is this live?

Time for the recap – the story of last night.

Time for Little Mix! Their new single “DNA” is out now. They are performing live. Their debut album “DNA” comes out next week.

The lines are now closed. Gary thinks Jahmene stole the show last night. Nicole is happy with her boys. Tulisa is worried people will assume Ella is safe. Louis doesn’t want to see his boybands in the bottom 2.

Ed Sheeran is next. He is pre-recorded. He is mega successful in the UK. He co-wrote some songs for One Direction. “Little Things”? Yep, that’s his. He is dueting with Taylor Swift on her new album. “Give Me Love” is his latest single. Wow, they forced the 4 judges to show up for the taping in tonight’s clothes again. Same with One Direction last night.

James Arthur
Rylan Clark
Jahmene Douglas
Ella Henderson

(Clean sweep for Nicole Scherzinger!)
Commercial Break.

Also safe:
Christopher Maloney

Bottom 2:
Union J

Bye Bye District3?

District3 sing Bruno Mars’ “Just The Way You Are”.

Union J sing Adele’s “Set Fire To The Rain”.

Louis refuses to vote.
Gary sends home: District3
Nicole sends home: District3

Going home: District3

Tulisa would send home Union J.

Alicia Keys and Olly Murs perform on the X Factor next week.

So, this was kinda predictable. It was always clear Union J were the preferred boyband and they clearly were better in the sing off. Not that District3 sucked – they are still miles ahead of One Direction’s singing on the X Factor two years ago. But, One Direction had Simon Cowell and backing tracks behind them. What’s more, they looked perfect – cohesive, but each member had an individual look. It was relatively easy to tell them apart.
That’s definitely not the case with Union J. I recognize George Shelley as the one with the guitar and Harry Styles hairstyle, but the other three are still only Triple J for me.
District3 are more individually recognizable, but they always sounded a bit cheesy and AC, so I’m not surprised TPTB switched their support to Union J. Both boybands and their fans managed to make trending topics on Twitter today, but they still landed in the bottom. Union J has no chance to win this.

Rylan’s X Factor journey is likely coming to an end next week. Unless Chris Maloney somehow ends up in the bottom 2. TPTB need to do something about Maloney because his presence on the show is getting scary. No one on the show likes him, Little Mix think he is fake, but he has yet to hit the bottom 2. The moment Chris hits bottom 2, he is gone. Just like Janet Devlin last season. If he somehow wins, he is getting:
– an album of covers for Mother’s day,
– dropped before the start of season 10,
– airbrushed from the history of X Factor.

I hope Chris goes.  He’s dated and annoying to boot.

Chris won’t win. I guarantee it.

  • Oldhag

I hope Union J doesn’t go, that main singer is something else.

The first ever X Factor winner was Steve FREAKING Brookstein.

  • http://twitter.com/eric_ascher Eric Ascher

I am aware of Steve. But the producers will rig it if needed. At least, I hope so.

This thing of messing too much and manipulating too much is one of the reasons the public isn’t watching anymore this show.

    The finale can be Christopher, Jahmene and Rylan if the public want this. I’m OK with that;

  • Oldhag

Okay,I just do not get the Ed Sheeran love.  I guess he’s okay but nothing more.

  • Nasstopher

I would like to see Christopher and Rylan in the bottom 2, and the judges make it go to deadlock, and Chris goes home. I think Gary would quit on the spot. LOL.

  • Oldhag

“The finale can be Christopher, Jahmene and Rylan if the public want this. I’m OK with that;”

Please, please, please, no.  I would have to quit watching.  Cheesy, Boring, and Not Really a Singer.  No thanks.

  • http://twitter.com/eric_ascher Eric Ascher

Rylan? Clearly the public doesn’t want that. Bottom two twice.

So just watched Little Mix’s performance umm why were they dressed like matadors? Why were the male dancers wearing stupid looking shorts and knee pads, they looked like little kids? Finally why were the guys choreography so stupid? I was cringing. The girls vocals were good for most of that I could tell they were nervous in the beginning and that dancing around was effecting them a bit.

I wish they could of had better choreography b/c I think that will hurt their sales a bit, I feel the sales bump from X-Factor wont be as big as it could of been b/c people wont be impressed by that.

Oh another thing did they come off as sexy aliens to anyone else thought in the beginning standing on the podium they were being beamed down and at the very end they got beamed back up.

Anywho, I hope they get another number 1 b/c they’re talented and it’s a good song.

  • Oldhag

    Ryland – England is nuts.

  • http://twitter.com/eric_ascher Eric Ascher

Wow. they made them wait for once.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

Yep. Cheesing, boring but it’s public choice at the end pf the day. This thing on X-Factor of throwing everyone under the bus so the new-fresh-super-marketable act can win is getting pretty boring, IMO.

  • Oldhag

Battle of the boybands – this sucks.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

Well, at least we won’t have to see #voteforunionJ or #votefordistrict3 trending on twitter during the whole weekend (and even weekday) anymore.

  • Oldhag

District 3 showed a great deal of class.  I’m glad Tulisa chose them so it wasn’t a blow out but I think if she were really forced to chose, she would have chosen Union J.

As much as I despise Rylan, this bottom 2 is effing hilarious. Some idiot brat’s day is gonna get ruined and I love their tears because….. well, I’m generally a nice guy, but I can get vicious when I get annoyed.

That said, lol at how far Britain’s X Factor has fallen. They’ve let too many joke acts get by based on whatever their sick sense of “entertainment” is. Jedward, Wagner, Frankie Cocozza, Johnny Robinson (to be fair, Johnny could sing, but he was really f***ed over), and now Rylan Clark. America had Sanjaya (and maybe a few others, like Heejun and formerly P2, although at least Heejun could sing and P2 learned how to sing near the end of the competition), and Nicole had the right mind to eliminate Dexter before things got way out of hand.

I’ll give Rylan credit for performing, but his act is terrible IMO, and his bad singing just makes it worse. Not to mention the fact that he said he doesn’t want to be a joke but continues to be a joke. He has no likability to me.

I just think that rylan should go home.. he’s a great entertainer but since his first performance he shown he hasn’t one of the best voices in the competition, so he deserve not to be on that stage.. i just miss Kay and Jade..
Another person is Christopher, he has a great voice but like Lou says, he doesn’t have a recording voice.

I’m glad District 3 is going home i’ve always preferred Union J, I’ve thought they had better vocals and simply the vibe of them felt better. James and Union J are the only two acts I care about on the show. I just hope now that Union J aren’t splitting the votes w/ District 3 they can stay out of the bottom 2.

It was weird that they went to Louis first instead of making him last don’t they usually save the mentor for last. I’m all suspicious now I feel like they knew Louis would take it to deadlock and then Union J would lose to District 3. And another thing i’m surprised Nicole voted for Union J to stay she’s always seemed so enthusiastic for District 3. And I thought Tulisa would have saved Union J only person who voted the way I expected was Gary. Hmm maybe Tulisa was just being nice when she said she’d save District 3.

I can’t wait to get the voting totals at the end of the season, i’m dying to see if there is any possibility of shenanigans going on. If District 3 would of beaten Union J if it went down to deadlock, then possible scheming. It’s a total things that make you go hmmmmm situation and some manipulations behind the scenes could of gone down to ensure Union J staying.

Oh well so Happy Union J is safe.

At this point I don’t care at all who wins as long as it’s not Rylan, but it’s like…. whatever.

Union J is better than most other boy bands on this show

  • Tanya Harvey

I’m glad Union J survived. Jaymi is as good a singer as anyone on the show.

  • Lovesyesha

I’m sure that after this train wreck of a season Simon will be retooling the show in a major way. I kind of hope that he keeps Nicole though. It is weird to say, but she is actually my favorite judge/mentor by far this season.

  • kansasfemale

just saw a rather crappy recording of Union J – all I can say is WOW – looking forward to a better quality recording later today

    very very very impressed —-

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/5HGXDY5SA4QJRME7OQJXRJYE4M James M.

Despite Rylan, I agree, Nicole’s actually a lot better in the UK. I almost wonder if she just needed a season of suck to become a good mentor/judge.

  • bahogbugan_simj

both boybands were boring so no loss really with either of them going home

but i gotta agree with some that Union J’s main singer Jaymi is quite good (better than any of the remaining guys there IMO) and i may have appreciated him more if he was a soloist

Rylan getting through again is LOLzy but really he’s probably the only one left there who is remotely interesting.  it’s Christopher Baloney who is the bigger WTF for me

  • Listening

Oh one more thing I was rewatching Union J’s survival song anyone else notice how intense Jaymi (the lead singer)was he wanted this bad. He was crazy serious. At times he looked like if they weren’t saved he’d set fire to  the stage, he was so focused. But despite looking so frazzled his vocals were still on point.  It was scary impressive.

  • Amber Alk

Union J may be one of my favorite boy bands from X Factor. I love District 3 but I prefer Union J. I think they could be successful.

  • http://twitter.com/HighTensions Jake Williams

    Go Rylan!

  • Oldhag

Union J Singing for the save video.  Their lead singer is incredible.

  • jobeob987

I agree and wonder why they didn’t leave him as a single act.  He has a beautiful tone.

  • Oldhag

He tried out as part of the group. Three of the boys were in a group and the show added the boy with blondish hair who plays the guitar. The ead singer wasn’t as good when it first started, he has really, really improved. I guess he had the natural talent and with the vocal coaching has really blossomed.
