X Factor UK Season 9: Second Live Show

Love & Heartbreak …

After Louis’ controversial decision to send the judges’ vote to deadlock, we had to say goodbye to sweet Carolynne Poole last week. To sum up last week’s results: Christopher Maloney replaced Carolynne Poole in the TOP 12.

This week, the contestants will sing songs of LOVE & HEARTBREAK. Yep, expect cheese and more cheese!

According to TV Guide, tonight’s show airs at 8:20pm BST (3:20pm EDT, 12:20pm PDT) on ITV1 (135min). The Xtra Factor airs at 10:35pm BST (60min) on ITV2.

Where to watch the show? If you are in the UK or can get UK IP, watch on ITV.com. Possible alternatives: TV Nutters, TVPC.com.

Please post working live feed links in the comments section below as you find them!

This.Is.The.Factor. Dermot O’Leary dances into the studio. The judges arrive. My feed is jumping a bit.
Anyway, we get another look at Gary’s reaction to Carolynne’s elimination and tearful Rylan. Now Gary says he has already forgive Louis. But Dermot hasn’t!

The lines are now open! Dermot recites the phone numbers.

Tonight’s theme is Love & Heartbreak.

Jahmene Douglas – “Tears Dry On Their Own” by Amy Winehouse /”Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye

Great vocal performance. I just don’t think there was any need for mashup.
Yoko Ono tweeted him last week. Jahmene reveals he is still waiting for his special person at 21.
Louis: You are what the show is about! So young, so shy … You are amazing!
Tulisa: You are looking very dapper tonight. It’s all about the voice. Absolutely amazing.
Gary: Well done. Great simple vocal performance. Love the outfit. Strong.
Nicole: You were born to be on that stage.

Christopher Maloney – “Alone” by Heart

Solid vocals. But CHEESY. He can sing, but he sounds karaoke.
Nicole: Wow. Brilliant song choice. I’m really impressed.
Louis: It was a little bit too cheesy for me.
Tulisa: Strong vocal performance, but it doesn’t sound current.
Gary. There is no need to make it current. Chris, you are perfect just as you are.

Union J – “Bleeding Love” by Leona Lewis/”Broken Strings” by James Morrison feat. Nelly Furtado

They met One Direction last week before they went on stage. After last week’s awful performance, they started rehearsing more.
From what I’ve heard, this was great. My feed is still not working smoothly.
Tulisa: Much better than last week!
Gary: Total transformation from last week!
Nicole: You’ve got everything right this week.
Louis: You’ve worked so hard this week and it so payed off.

Ella Henderson – “Lovin’ You” by Minnie Riperton

Ella claims she and George Shelley are just best friends. Yeah, right.
White piano, Ella dressed up in white. Like mini Adele. Crazy note!
Gary: What a risk you took tonight! You completely nailed it!
Nicole: You are timeless and classic.
Louis: It’s so hard to believe you are only 16. I think you are a worldwide recording artist. Your mentor watched too many Adele videos.
Tulisa: Ella styles herself.

James Arthur – “No More Drama” by Mary J Blige

He and Nicole have a mentoring session in a pub. He talks to Mary J Blige on the phone.
Louis: that was powerful, emotional, great song choice Nicole!
Tulisa: You have this pain in your voice, you are believable, you are my favorite boy.
Gary: You have a lot of technique and you pair that with the pain in your voice.
Nicole: You are on the another level.

Lucy Spraggan – “Gold Digger” by Kanye West

Her grandmother died on Monday, right after the first weekend of live shows. Lucy doesn’t want people to feel sorry for her.
Lucy strums her guitar and sings/raps Kanye’s hit. She has dancers and a DJ on stage.
Gary: Well done. I liked you doing a cover for once.
Nicole: You swagged it out and you made it your own.
Louis: Well done. You did well after a tough week.
Tulisa: Well done. You could have done a sad song but chose to make people smile.

District3 – “I Swear” by All For One

They are worried about the song choice. By the end of the week, they like it.
Gah, this is a cheesy song. Pretty good, the last note was a bit off.
Tulisa: I understand why Louis picked this song for you. Your strong points are harmonies, you have the strongest harmonies.
Gary: The harmonies were off. The very last note was very off as well.
Nicole: I have to disagree with Gary. That last note was a bit flat. That performance was a bit too apple-pie. Sing a song like you mean it.
Louis: Gary, I think you are going deaf. Amazing harmonies.

Jade Ellis – “Love is a Losing Game” by Amy Winehouse

Fine vocal performance with song arrangement quite close to the original.
Gary: Jade, amazing performance, Simply, stylish, sexy. Terrific vocals, amazing job.
Nicole: You are like this amazing wild exotic flower.
Louis: I think you are incredible.
Tulisa: Vocally, tonight you proved yourself.

Adele tweeted about Ella Henderson! Screaming mums in the audience!

MK1 – “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5

They give Louis urban makeover. UNCLE LOUIS! LOL. The performance is kinda cool.
Tulisa: You have the most fun on stage.
Gary: Good energy, good routine, it’s gone a bit too Glee this week for me.
Nicole: I didn’t feel it this week. I don’t think this is a song you would put on the album. It was a little too Glee for me. The rapping was good.
Louis: We need votes!

Kye Sones – “Love The Way You Lie” by Eminem feat. Rihanna/”Thank You” by Dido

Yikes, bad notes right at the beginning on LTWYL. Cringe-worthy. Then we randomly jump into “Thank You” and then back to LTWYL. What’s the point? And those flames?
Nicole: It was a brilliant song choice and mash-up with excellent vocals. There was fire on stage, it didn’t set me on fire.
Louis: Something was missing. I got bored.
Tulisa: You have all the ingredients, but it’s just not translating for some reason.
Gary: You gave it everything.

Rylan Clark – “Groove Is In The Heart & Gangnam Style & Pump Up The Jam” (MASH UP) – Deee Lite

Yes, he and Nicole call Gary Gary Borelow. And yes, Psy’s viral hit made it to X Factor. He starts with Take That’s classic “Back for Good”. OMG. Like, I can’t. I have no words. Pandas, Karl Lagerfelds, Rylan strutting on stage fiercely. His vocals suck, but this is watchable. Brian Friedman didn’t hold back with this production.
Louis: That is entertainment! I love Karl Lagerfelds!
Tulisa: It’s a bit cheesy and kraraoke, but it’s entertaining!
Gary: If there was a competition for how many songs you could kill in two minutes you’d win. My song was the best part before it turned into musical dirge.
Nicole: Brilliant artistic direction, Brian Friedman!

Melanie Masson – “Never Tear Us Apart” by Paloma Faith

Super breathy and a bit dated. I don’t like the white suit and red lipstick.
Nicole: Absolutely brilliant job.
Louis: You can sing anything, I’m a big fan.
Tulisa: Halfway through I got a bit worried about the song choice, but you got it together.
Gary: You sang your heart out.

And this is it for tonight! Tomorrow, we will see Taylor Swift and Rebecca Ferguson perform.

Who I want to see in the bottom: Christopher Maloney, Kye Sones, Jade Ellis.
