Times Red made it for the wildcards; eye candies they are ;)

  • lagom_lubot_si_mj

disappointing batch of contestants.  i say it’s worse than last year (despite having a very solid winner in Little Mix) in terms of competitiveness

Decent makeovers; though Ella seems to look so old

My predictions for the final 3:
    James Arthur
    Ella Henderson
    Melanie Masson

James gave the best judges’ houses’ performance ever!!

I’m pretty satisfied with the girls and overs, even though I don’t care for Kye or Lucy. Ella, Jade, Melanie and Carolynne are my faves. I like Jaheme well enough, but I thinking he is mainly casted as the “inexperienced underdog turn shining star” type. James I have mixed feelings for. I don’t give a rat’s ass about Rylan and the groups. The groups to me are bland and paint by numbers.

I do think this is an underwhelming bunch, but I already like them better than the Aussie one.

  • durbesque

It’s the rare singer that melts my stony heart.  James does it with “May”.  Now along comes another James (Arthur) and gets me with a song that would normally have no effect.  His voice is an ordinary baritone, but he goes so deep that I give up my need for a great voice.  Would it hold up for a set or an album? idk

  • lagom_lubot_si_mj

an OTT-delivering Rylan of exploding sparkles, rainbows and ponies might be >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> James Arthur, Jahmene and Caroline

other than that Ella >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> all of them (mediocre, bland, boring snoozefest)

Well, I’m happy about this season! My favorites are in! Yes!!!

  • Whatiswrongwithus

I really don’t get it. Does X factor UK ALWAYS have to have a joke contestant EVERY freaking season?? Do the UK viewers at home love watching such a spectacle?? I really hope not…I kinda feel sorry for Rylan, he doesn’t even know he’s there for laughs does he? The only reason I’m not so pissed they cast Rylan for live shows is because other than James and Jahmene, the rest of the boys were soooo “meh”.
I sure hope Simon doesn’t apply this in US. Bad enough we have drama queens e.g. CeCe and Tara

Lucy is undeniably the most talented artist on this show, but she’ll bore the fans of big ole female voices and cute guys “singing-to-your-heart”. She doesn’t belong in a karaoke show.

Do the UK viewers at home love watching such a spectacle?

Yes, they love. They watch TV as TV should be watched: pure entertainment. Kudos to them!

Do the UK viewers at home love watching such a spectacle?

I kinda think so, whatiswrongwithus. A UK friend tried explaining it to me once – he said there is a long tradition of great drama and music of substance right along side a long tradition of Pantomime. (Or Music Halls, or Vaudeville)

It helps for those acts if you picture a Punch and Judy show – or what we would call Slapstick. (Or The Three Stooges)  Not quite Monty Python – much more Benny Hill.

At least, I ‘think’ that’s what he meant.

I don’t think that Simon Cowell every presented the X Factor as something that should be taken seriously.  The tone of the show is very different from American Idol’s.  The X Factor is more tongue in cheek, which works in the UK, but here, since people are going to compare it to American Idol, the show comes off looking like a satire of AI.

  • Incipit

I don’t think that Simon Cowell every presented the X Factor as something that should be taken seriously.

Right, take the Five Million Prize (with strings) seriously, but not the show. They won’t seriously pick contestants who have any ambition for artistry, as long as the winners don’t seriously expect to have the support needed for a serious career. It’s just entertainment.

And somehow, that’s worth Five Mil (with strings). Bit of a mixed message.

    JMO.

I follow Cher on twitter and she did a shout-out today on twitter to Ella for her performance of “Believe”!
