According to The Sun, the winner of season 10 is already decided. Sam Bailey is ahead by a country mile.

Rankings: Sam Bailey, Nicholas McDonald, Sam Callahan, Rough Copy, Luke Friend, Tamera Foster, Hannah Barrett.

Considering that Sam Bailey is a female over 35, Nicholas McDonald is a balladeer in a vein of failed winners Leon Jackson and Joe McElderry and Sam Callahan can’t really sing … Looks like season 10 won’t produce anyone that could be commercially successful post season. Season 10 looks like a dud and it’s not even over yet.

Anyway, HERE are the song spoilers for tonight.

Apparently Tamera Foster is doing a hip-hop version of her song, inspired by this Kanye West song.

Live from London, the X Factor celebrates everything British … and Dermot is dancing the FOX.

The judges are next and Nicole is wearing a giant black bow on her chest.

Each vote or download this weekend goes for the Philippines.

Hannah Barrett – Satisfaction (The Rolling Stones)

Nicole says this is a perfect someone who was in the bottom 2 last week. Hannah can get no satisfaction …
Hannah sounds pretty great, but I’m just not connecting with this performance.
Louis: You came out fighting, we don’t want you in the bottom 2 this week …
Sharon: Great performance, good song choice.
Gary: Another incredible performance. You were in the bottom 2 last week, that can make you give up or keep going … You came back fighting.
Nicole: You did Aretha proud tonight…

Luke Friend – Your Song (Elton John)

Louis is the only judge left with a full category. He took the boys skating this week.
Luke also visited Seal, who is recording his album in London right now.
I have mixed feelings about this vocal performance. Luke struggled in parts, but also had some great moments. The lighting was crazy.
Sharon: What a huge to take on! That song is the biggest song. If Cliff Richards could sing, he would sing like you. It was a very organic performance, I felt what you were singing.
Gary: You came back fighting this week. You are not a technical singer. You did your own version.
Nicole: Your voice reminds me of your hair. It’s organic, it’s real, but has just enough grit, dirt …
Louis: You made it your own!

Sam Bailey – Something (The Beatles)

Sam went home this week and make some cookies for her children.
Sam stands on giant staircase. It’s one of her standard ballad performances. Technically it’s good, but boring.
Gary: Another incredible performance. people love you out there. Just because you are a woman over 30 that doesn’t mean you are not going to sell records. (Keep lying, Gary!)
Nicole: I don’t think I would put that song on your album …
Louis: You can sell records like Mariah, Celine …
Sharon: You are just a diamond to work with … Keep voting …

Rough Copy – Viva La Vida (Coldplay)

Gary took them to the Children in Need concert and they performed “Rule the World” with Gary.
Huge backing track for the chorus. I don’t think this what Rough Copy was supposed to be about. But the performance seems decent. I just think Gary is not doing them any favors.
Nicole: Boys, week after week you never fail, you never disappoint. This performance was a bit vanilla for me, i miss chocolate. I don’t want you to lose your soul.
Louis: You are obviously doing a lot of things right …
Sharon: I don’t know how you did it, but your version was great. Great song choice, Gary!
Gary: These days like to try new things. You bring the fun to the show.

Sam Callahan – Faith (George Michael)

Sam Callahan wants to show himself as a serious artist this week. He plans to play a guitar.
Hmm, this just isn’t a great song choice for a singing competition. This is awkward, falling flat, IMO. Towards the end the crowd joins him on stage. WTF.
Sharon: Sam, so, you chose the song, you chose to play guitar, … I’ve watched all the comments … You look defeated and you are not defeated …I know how many followers you have a twitter.
Gary: I didn’t love this performance. I don’t think you are progressing as fast as the others. You are a fighter …
Nicole: We had a little hiccup with the guitar … but I love a fighter … you have the right attitude to make it in this business.
Louis: You are the hardest working contestant, we need votes!

Caroline Flack interviews Sam Bailey, Rough Copy and Luke Friend backstage.

Tamera Foster – Diamonds Are Forever (Shirley Bassey)

She was thinking about doing Bohemian Raphsody but decided against it because it’s too dark.
She forgets the lyrics during the dress rehearsal. And damn, a blip happens during the performance. Yikes.
Louis: You are looks great, it was a very unusual song but you made it your own!
Sharon: It was your best performance to date, but then you go and do ee…
Gary: Ignoring that little mistake it was a great performance. But we are still waiting for that moment when the light switches on for everyone.
Nicole: She has already stolen the show for me several times…

Nicholas McDonald – Someone Like You (Adele)

Nicholas is popular with the girls. He assures us he is single.
Awkward song choice. 16-year old sings a song about a girl that “found a boy and she is married now”? Nicholas sang it prettily, but almost right until the end there was no “punch”. I wish the song choices were a little more age appropriate for the kids.
Sharon: Every week you deliver, you have such a fantastic voice.
Gary: You have to add more of yourself into this performances.
Nicole: Your voice is so soothing.
Louis: That was the vocal performance of the night!

Lines are now open.

One Direction and Oprah are on Jonathan Ross’ show tonight at 9:30 right after the XF.

Nicholas McDonald impresses judges with Adele song… while Sam Callahan messes up after insisting on playing the guitar
He’s only 16-years-old but Nicholas McDonald wowed the X Factor judges yet again with his rendition of Someone Like You by Grammy Award winning artist Adele.

The Scot belted out the track with the emotion of someone twice his age for the Great British Song book week.

While Sam Callahan took a risk by playing guitar live along to his version of George Michael’s Faith, which didn’t pay off and left him looking ‘defeated’.

She’s got style wrapped up! Nicole Scherzinger looks schmazing in midriff baring black bow and sexy skirt two-piece
Competition may be hotting up, but Nicole Schezinger’s wardrobe has gone through the roof.

The judge turned herself into an X Factor treat choosing a flesh baring black bow as the centre piece of her outfit on Saturday night’s show.

She wore it with her midriff on show covering her legs with a floor length figure hugging skirt with a huge split to her upper thigh.

  • Face

Tamera doing a hip hop version of Diamonds are Forever has either… epic fail… or sublimely brilliant… given no one has done a great performance in S10 yet… I fear its the former…

  • Face

Hmmm… Luke and Tamera both getting a ‘could do better’ edit…
ETA… is that a sign they want them out… or for a redemption story arc?

  • Face

Dermott doing an intro dance… ratings must really be bad…

  • Face

Hannah 1st… they have absolutely given up on her… let the shouting commence!

  • Face

on a plinth and lots of long shots… less than subtle don’t vote messages from TPTB
ETA… blimey, the dancers are getting more screen time and close ups than Hannah!!

  • Face

is this OTT vote commentary a way of making people think that they don’t need to vote (as so many other people will)??
on reflection… they have mentioned she has been B2 about 8 or 9 times… they do want her out…

  • Nedsdag

TBTH, Hannah wasn’t bad, but there are others who have a bigger fan base. Apparently Sam C. gets a third of the overall votes. Why, I have no idea.

  • Face

I heard that is was Sam B getting 30% of the votes

  • Nedsdag

    My mistake.

  • Face

LOL, but I agree with your ‘why, I have no idea’ comment

  • Face

hmmm… I can’t decide whether they want Luke to progress or not?
On the one hand he has Seal in his VT…
on the other… he also had the 2 other boys eating into his airtime…

  • Oldhag

Me too! She is definitely not my cup of tea.

  • Face

I think Luke did the best he could with an Elton John song… sounded a bit edgier and alt/rock than I thought you could make ‘Your Song’… I think he may be the dark horse…

  • Face

judges trying too hard to be fun…

  • Oldhag

I thought Luke did a good job with that.

  • Face

    Luke is getting the… you’re not a technically great singer… it’s your tone… edit… they’ve used the word organic about 3 times…
Shazza being stupid is all part of the distraction… while I personally liked it… I think TPTB want him gone…

  • Face

Sam B after Luke… yes it confirms to me they are trying to overshadow him by putting a front runner after him

  • Face

Sam B is getting the full ‘we love you’ treatment by TPTB… showing her kids, meeting Celine, Michael Bolton… she gets the down to earth every-woman trying to make her dream come true edit…

  • Face

shame she’s doing such a dull version of a pretty song…

  • Oldhag

She sure snoozed that up, although not as much as Ella did You’re the One I Want last year. Not sure anyone could top that one.

  • Nedsdag

Sam B. damn, you killed it!!!!!!

  • Face

oohh mixed feedback… do they want her to get the sympathy vote… or is this the next phase of the… ‘we want her top 3 but no further’… edit?

  • Oldhag

Hmmm… they are all commenting on the record selling potential. Anyone got a theory about that?

  • Nedsdag

Which Coldplay song is Rough Copy singing?

  • Face

well everyone else in the UK has commented on how unlikely an over 30 is to become a big seller… regardless of how good a technical singer they are… so they had to address that elephant…

  • Face

    viva la vida… ala 1D

  • Nedsdag

Whatever! I still think of the 1D version. They should’ve done “Yellow” instead.

  • Mateja Praznik

She is female, 35 and has yet to release a debut album. They are comparing her to the big divas of the 80s and 90s (Mariah, Celine, Whitney), but those divas were way younger when they started their careers (Mariah was 20 or 21 when she released her debut album). And at that time that type of music was considered “pop”. Today it’s adult contemporary and Mariah and Celine are struggling for radioplay now. Celine’s label didn’t even try sending a single from Celine’s new album to radio. Celine is already a legend and can sell some units on her name alone. Sam Bailey … will be releasing her debut album at 36.

  • Face

man they are doing everything they can in this VT to make Rough copy appeal to middle England…

  • Face

maybe it’s just me… but I don’t see Gazza and Chris Martin as friends…

  • Face

ooh very sharp start… they should be better with the ‘epic’ chorus… and wooo woos…
I cant help but wonder, what happened to the urban… more street band I expected from these guys?

  • Oldhag

I wondered how much that would impact votes. I know on American Idol being originally from another country hurt Michael Johns and Carly Smithson.

  • Oldhag

I haven’t seen urban out of them yet.

  • Face

    blimey… I am agreeing with Scherz tonight…

  • Face

it does make me laugh that they are saying they are urban and this song isn’t their thing… when previously they have done Bryan Adams and Backstreet Boys… and it wasn’t mentioned then!!!

  • Oldhag

    I agree with you.

  • Vetle

I don’t care if Sam sells a lot of records or not. I don’t think a lot of them will. I want the win for her.

  • Mateja Praznik

Thank you. Some are also comparing Sam to Susan Boyle, but Susan sold her millions of albums based on that viral audition.

In short, I don’t see Sam Bailey selling much next year. Her winner’s single might do well because of the hype.

  • Face

mainly because they have yet to do anything vaguely urban… but I agree 100%… guess it’s to pander to the white middle class Saturday evening family viewers

  • Face

Sam C… my guilty pleasure… he’s getting the… everyone thinks you’re crap… so we are giving you a Sam C v Gazza edit… to hype up the silliness…

  • Face

LOL that he thinks playing the guitar will help…
ooh dear… timing well out… me smells a rat!

  • Nedsdag

    Please go home, Sam C.

  • Face

oh dear… they do want him gone… the strangest version of this song i could ever imagine… the stripped back version is REALLY exposing his weak vocals… maybe it will backfire on TPTB???

  • Oldhag

His fan base is going to come running to the rescue for him again this week. So who is going to join Hannah in the bottom two this week?

  • Face

Shazza giving him the ‘you look defeated’ comment… Gazza giving him the ‘little fighter’ comment… they really want people to stop voting

  • Oldhag

They are giving Wee Nic the pimp spot?

  • Face

they had to do it at some point… i guess they think better now at top 7 than at top 5…

  • Nedsdag

It’s going to backfire on them.

  • Face

    here’s hoping!!

  • Face

Tamera getting the triumph over adversity edit… changing song / forgotten lyrics et al…

  • Oldhag

They are really making sure to point out that the contestants chose their own songs this week.

  • Face

i’m actually liking this version… surprisingly

  • Face

ooh missed lyrics.. but reasonably well recovered… will the judges comment on it??

  • Nedsdag

    Tamera forgot the lyrics

  • Oldhag

You couldn’t miss her reaction to it.

  • Face

TPTB still want her to progress… even if Shazza laboured the point over the missed lyrics… Gazza is doing the ‘your great performance is coming soon’… i.e. keep voting for her, the best is yet to come…

  • Oldhag

I think it is a given that Hannah is going to be in the bottom 2. I think the only one they would save her over is Sam C. But I think Luke or Tamera are more likely to join her, so I think she is a goner.

  • Face

i cant help but think this is going to be terrible… even if technically well sung

  • Face

yawn… he doesn’t really have the life experience to pull this off…

  • Face

    I expect judges to give faint praise… 16… reliable… technically well sung…

  • Oldhag

He is such an old soul musically. Hard to believe he and Tamera are the same age.

  • Face

Gazza comparing Nic to Luke and Rough Copy… Dermott vaguely mentioning Nic going back to Scotland to sing at the rugby… they don’t want him to win… but don’t want him to get the sympathy vote either

  • Face

if by old soul, you mean boring… then i agree

  • Oldhag

I honestly don’t see a viable act in the whole group.

  • Nedsdag

I love how the judges are trying to push Nicholas instead of Sam C as a teen idol. Nevertheless, Nicholas has something Sam C can only dream about: talent.

  • Face

yet again more re-done songs… i think only Nic had a song that had never been done on live shows of UK XF before… no wonder it’s all so boring and predictable..

  • Oldhag

I don’t find him boring but I am probably in his demographic. I like old souls because I am just old. He isn’t ever going to be the next pop star, precisely because even though he is a kid, he prefers songs that appeal to older people. But you can’t deny he is very talented. The two most talented acts on this season are never going to sell oodles of records because of what they sing. But the other acts aren’t talented enough to either, so what they sing doesn’t matter as much. Luke Friend is the only one who has a shot – and when you get right down to it, how lucrative is the indie market?

  • Face

i don’t see Luke as indie… more pop leaning toward indie… but still very mainstream… like a younger version of Olly Murs… so of the bunch he may well do the best commercially…

  • Face

vocal talent perhaps… but that alone doesn’t sell records and fill concert halls and arenas…

  • sweetmm

Its such a joy watching a singing competition when everyone can carry a tune wonderfully (with the exception of Sam).

  • Karen C

I think the problem with Sam Callahan playing guitar was that the backing track or band overpowered his playing, and it was the same as the original. The guitar was used more as a prop and didn’t add to his performance.

  • Blackbeat

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2508287/X-Factors-Sam-Bailey-unbeatable-million-miles-ahead-rivals.html

Looks like Sam Bailey is everyone’s favorite to win. Let’s hope that producers have a change of heart like in the Australian version. I reckon it will be interesting if she does win, every single category will finally have a winning act.

  • kcostell

Steve Brookstein (the first season’s winner) was an Over. So I think every category already has had a winning act.

  • sjames08

That’s generalizing. Some teens/early 20′s like myself can like songs that can appeal to the older generation. There is a younger demographic that like songs that actually has meaning AND a melody.

  • Niels Bohr

    Bottom 2 prediction: Sam C & Tamera

  • Oldhag

I hope you are right because he is incredibly talented. He is my favorite contestant by a long shot. I would like to see him do well.
