We are starting with Sharon and the Over 25s.

Samantha Atkinson – Run to You (Whitney Houston)
Big song that requires big vocals. I think Samantha is definitely getting a chair. The judges all loved it and Sharon invites her to take a seat.

Melissa Pedro – Wild Horses (Rolling Stones)
Big vocal. Simon thinks she wasn’t memorable. Melissa begs Sharon to give her a seat. Sharon didn’t like the song choice, but gives her a seat anyway.

Irina Dedyuk – Mama Knows Best (Jessie J)
Big vocal. This rendition is a lot better than Samantha Lavery’s last night. She gets a seat.

James Wilson – Trouble (Ray LaMontagne)
He plays acoustic guitar and delivers his raspy vocals. His eyes don’t leave the floor during the performance. He is so nervous. Great comments from Nicole and Simon. Simon says: “Some people you just know are going to be good and you’re one of those.”. Sharon gives him a seat.

Honey G – WTF (Where They From) (Missy Elliott feat. Pharrell)
Honey G thinks she is the next Jay Z. LOL. She raps, a lady in the audience tells another she has no idea what she is saying. Simon says she shouldn’t be doing that and isn’t sure she is “real”. Sharon isn’t sure what to do. She says she can not give her a seat. The audience is chanting, but Sharon decides to stick with her decision.

Sada Vidoo – Numb (Linkin Park)
The living doll brings the weirdness, but will Sharon buy that? Simon says she is fantastically nuts and he likes nuts. Sharon gives her a seat.

Relley C – What a Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong)
She got to Nicole’s judges’ houses three years ago. She was in the girls category back then and I remember her as a good singer, who lacked a bit of charisma and simply wasn’t chosen for the live shows. Good vocal performance, but I’m not sure about this arrangement. Simon thinks she is memorable. Sharon gives her a seat.

James Craise – Alive (Sia)
He is a 29-years old music teacher and I think this is his first appearance on this show. His voice is nothing special and he lacks stage presence. The song doesn’t have a good chorus – not one of Sia’s best songs. He wants this badly. Sharon decides to give him a chair. Melissa Pedro is out.

Janet Grogan – One Last Time (Ariana Grande)
Simon sent her home at this stage two years ago. I don’t think this was a good song choice. Louis agrees with me. Sharon decides to give her a chair. Irina Dedyuk is out. It’s a shame, I think Irina sang really well. But she isn’t likable and I think she was taken this far just to make up the numbers.

Rebekah Ryan – Why (Annie Lennox)
TPTB remind us of her emotional and desperate audition. Rebekah delivers another average and desperate performance. It seems like she is begging the judges to put her through. This was painful to watch. Louis says the performance was desperate and Rebekah admits her desperation. Nicole wants a “proud” performance. Sharon tells her that she would definitely let her go at the judges’ houses. No chair for Rebekah. I guess she served her purpose on this show. I’ve seen this rejection coming from a mile away at her audition. I feel really bad for Rebekah. She is an average singer, one I wouldn’t let to audition in front of the judges, but TPTB decided to show the nation her desperation and then they kicked her to the curb.

Saara Aalto – I See Fire (Ed Sheeran)
Good vocal performance, but I’m not sure she is connecting with the audience. She gets good comments from Nicole and Simon. Sharon says she has a good voice, but feels no connection. Saara wants another chance, but Sharon says no. Saara starts walking off the stage, but then comes back. She sings another song in French and the audience starts booing her. Sharon decides not to give her a seat.

Christopher Peyton – Rise Up (Andra Day)
Caitlyn Vanbeck sang this song last night. Christopher delivers a great performance. Louis calls him a breath of fresh air, Sharon gives him a chair. Sada Vidoo is out.

Marianna Zappi – Somewhere Over the Rainbow (Eva Cassidy)
Nice vocal. Louis calls the performance “perfect”. Sharon decides to give her a seat. James Craise is out.

Ivy Grace Paredes – I Have Nothing (Whitney Houston)
She has a big voice, but I don’t see her as an artist, more like a karaoke singer. Nicole says her voice is bigger than the Philippines. Simon points out she is not very original. Sharon decides to give her a chair. Marianna Zappi is out. Anyway, it looks like this will be the last we see and hear of Ivy Grace, too. Apparently she had to drop out because she didn’t get a visa to travel to the US for the judges’ houses.

Anelisa Lamola – Amazing Grace
She was first one the show nine years ago. She starts her performance fine, but then her it turns bad. Simon calls the performance off-key and shriek-y. Anelisa begs Sharon to give her a seat, but Sharon says no. This is painful. It took her nine years to come back and she was once again told no by Sharon. It’s really too bad.

Sharon’s Overs
Samantha Atkinson
Relley C
Janet Grogan
Ivy Grace Paredes (OUT)
James Wilson
Christopher Peyton

Time for Louis and the groups.

Everyday Solution – Stop Crying Your Heart Out (Oasis)
I think this is their first appearance on the show. Their performance is boring, but pleasant. Simon’s comments match my own thoughts: “Nice, boring, safe, vanilla.” But the boys are from Ireland, so Louis gives them a seat.

The Brooks – Want You Back (Cher Lloyd)
They are kinda like Jedward, but without the crazy hair. Are they from Ireland too? Louis thinks they have potential, so they get a seat. Louis made Jedward successful, so at least there is that.

Kayleigh and Stefan – Who Wants to Live Forever (Queen)
Father and daughter duo. Terrible and creepy performance. Louis gives them a seat. Of course. That’s Louis.

Ottavio and Bradley – Milkshake (Kelis)
Absolutely terrible. I have no words. I think they are embracing their role of a joke act. Louis gives them a seat. As expected.

5am – How Deep is Your Love (Calvin Harris)
They say they first got together 5 weeks ago. This performance is also terrible, but a little less than previous performances. The crowd is going crazy for them. Glowing comments from the judges. Louis gives them a seat.

4 of Diamonds – Stop (Jamelia)
I don’t particularly like their voices on solos, but at least the girls can sing a harmony. Standing ovation from Simon. Sharon says they need sass, Louis gives them a seat.

Tom and Laura – Young Hearts Run Free (Candi)
They want to show that ordinary people can have a career in the music biz, too. Good luck with that. Laura is dressed like a hippy. Their singing is pleasant. Louis is giving them a seat. Kayleigh and Stefan are out. Good decision.

Girl Next Door – Drag Me Down (One Direction)
Complete mess. Nicole singles out one girl as outstanding, Sharon and Simon give them positive comments. Louis decides not to give them a seat. The crowd is not happy with the decision.

Yes Lad – Let It Be (The Beatles)
The crowd is still booing Louis when they come on stage. The boys opted for a simple acoustic performance. I find it a bit boring and safe. Nicole says they are the most solid of all the groups. Simon calks them old fashioned. Louis decides to give them a seat. Ottavio and Bradley are out. Simon thinks Louis made a mistake. Oh really?

No Getaway – One Last Time (Ariana Grande)
Boyband of 4. The judges find them boring. The biggest problem: bad harmonies. Louis decides to give them a seat. Everyday Solution is out.

Sharon and Nicole want Louis to bring Ottavio and Bradley back because they are different. Louis gives in and decides to give them a seat. Yes Lad are gone. Louis then decides to bring back another act – Girl Next Door. No Getaway are gone. He swapped one terrible group for another. Actually, he swapped two terrible groups for two other terrible groups.

Scarl3t – Bang, Bang (Jessie J)
The girls think there is room for an urban girlband. Since the standard is so low, these girls are pretty good. Nicole says they “killed it”. Simon think this could be the best category … yeah, right. The overs are probably the best this year. He says he would give them a chair.

Louis says he already has two girlbands and doesn’t want three. Louis then calls the three girlbands on stage. He decides to keep Scarl3t and 4 of Diamonds. Girl Next Door are out, again. I almost feel sorry for the girls. Almost. If only they had talent.

So much drama and swapping for so little talent in this category. It’s almost shocking. Louis and TPTB could save themselves the cost of travelling to the judges’ houses. I would pick Scarl3t, 5am and The Brooks for the lives and call it a day.

Louis’ groups:
Scarl3t
4 of Diamonds
The Brooks
5am
Tom and Laura
Ottavio and Bradley

NEXT WEEK: Judges’ houses

Will they announce a replacement for Ivy Grace? And who will be the 4 wildcards?
