Ahh, another double elimination! TPTB want only three acts in the grand final, it it’s kinda necessary.

This week’s theme is really a theme to die for. The two groups and Stevi Ritchie are singing Elton John’s classics and everybody else is doing Whitney Houston’s overdone hits. Andrea Faustini will be singing Whitney for the second time during the live shows (He sang “One Moment In Time” in week 2.). I’m not sure I can make it through another rendition of “I Have Nothing”.

David Guetta and Emeli Sande will be performing “What I Did For Love” before somebody is sent home in 7th place at the end of the show.

Dermot introduces the 4 judges and their acts. The judges and the acts walk on stage together. The phone lines are open NOW. We are starting with Lauren and ending with Stereo Kicks.

Lauren Platt – How Will I Know (Whitney Houston)

Lauren was invited to sing at the Frozen event at the Royal Albert Hall. She will be dancing tonight. YIKES. And her little brother Louis will be dancing with her.
The beginning of the song is slowed down. Smart. She also dances a bit and it doesn’t look too awkward. Overall, decent.
Louis: You picked a big Whitney song, I love your little brother …
Mel B: I think this is your best performance! You can sing and dance!
Simon: I thought you were better than you were given last week. This was your best performance in weeks!
Cheryl: I agree with all the comments. I love you to bits. Please vote for Lauren!

Ben Haenow – I Will Always Love You (Whitney Houston)

This song is completely out of his comfort zone. No kidding.
It’s just him, mic stand and one light. He is trying to give it his own stamp, but the beginning was a bit shaky. The second part is a lot better. He made it his own with his rock vocal and slight re-arrangement.
Louis: You picked the most iconic Whitney song and I’m glad you took a risk! It paid off!
Mel B: I love your voice, it’s a rock voice. You didn’t give me the emotion and softness, you just sang it as a rock song. It didn’t work for me.
Cheryl: I’m one of your biggest fans. At this point in the competition, it’s a risk to take on a song like this. This song didn’t do anything for me, but you are not going anywhere.
Simon: You did your version of this song. I think people will vote for you because you deserve it.

Only The Young – Something About The Way You Look Tonight (Elton John)

They performed in a shopping center this week.
Tonight they are doing the song that they first performed in the audition round. Great staging with the little cars! Another original version, but I’m not sure I’m a fan of this. Elton’s ballad original is just so beautiful. To be honest, the performance just made no sense to me. Vocally it was fine, but I didn’t like what was happening on stage and the arrangement just didn’t work.
Mel B: This is why we all love you guys. You are young, you are fun, your vocals are always on point.
Louis: There’s a massive gap for a group for you. Everyone at home, please vote for Only The Young.

Andrea Faustini – I Have Nothing (Whitney Houston)

He visited the Italian embassy and his best moment was eating cake. He is struggling with the song, so he gets a mentoring session with X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, who was performing this song in the Bodyguard musical.
Andrea gets through the performance with no major stumbles, even though this probably won’t be his performance of the season.
Louis: That’s how you do a Whitney song. I see you getting a record deal and selling records worldwide.
Cheryl: I’m running out of amazing things to say because you are so wonderful.
Simon: It wasn’t perfect, but you just love singing. I love you as a person, there is no way you are leaving after this performance.
Mel B: I’m shaking …

Fleur East – I’m Every Woman (Whitney Houston)

This is the first song she and her singing teacher learned to sing. Her family and friends will join her on stage.
Fleur can sing, but she is nowhere near Whitney’s level and her voice isn’t really distinctive. That might be a problem since radio is all about distinctive voices. Anyway, Fleur gets through the song with no major problems.
Louis: What a performance. Every week you continue to amaze me! You deserve it, this is your time!
Mel B: I mean, WOWZA! Simon, you are so lucky to have her!
Cheryl: At this point of the competition it would be a disaster to lose you. I wasn’t a fan of what you were wearing.
Simon: I absolutely love you, I really really do!

Stevi Ritchie – I’m Still Standing (Elton John)
http://youtu.be/yxD4VL_6Kgk
Stevi was on Loose Women this week! They train him like a monkey in rehearsals.
OMG; Stevi as a Pharaoh on a golden throne! The dancers bathe him in oil. Stevi is giving us his 100%.
Louis: What was all that about! I didn’t get the Egyptian theme!
Mel B: There is problem in the house.
Cheryl: You are all still standing after all these weeks, … I think it’s amazing you are here.
Simon: Stevi, it was a little bit nutty, I don’t know what Brian was thinking! You are going to be remembered for this performance.

Yep, everyone wants Stevi to go. But he is a class act.

Stereo Kicks – Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me (Elton John)

The boys and Louis go ice skating and the boys have t-shirts with their names on. The boys came up with nicknames for themselves.
The boys again sing lots of solos. They end spectacularly. And they get a standing ovation from all 4 judges.
Mel B: You deserve a standing ovation. Right now you are in your element, you are a group! Well done!
Cheryl: Mel’s right. It takes a long time for a group to gel. I love the song choice.
Simon: You know what, you just it! You know each other’s strengths and weaknesses …
Louis: It just worked!

Dermot now repeats the voting numbers for all 7 acts. Recap. After the recap, Dermot gives 5 minute warning. Commercial break.

We are back and the vote is now frozen!

It’s time for a performance from DJ David Guetta and Emeli Sande. David’s new album is out on Monday. His current single is “Dangerous” feat. Sam Martin, but tonight he and Emeli are performing “What I Did For Love”. Emeli is playing the piano and David’s production kicks in in the middle. Emeli’s hairstyle get weirder with every passing week. I’m not feeling this song, performing “Dangerous” would be a better idea.

Another commercial break. This reminds me, Jake Quickenden entered “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!”. Good for him.

Time for the results!

Safe:
Lauren Platt
Ben Haenow
Andrea Faustini
Stereo Kicks

Only The Young, Fleur East and Stevi Ritchie remain on stage. Dermot says they are not the Bottom 3, but one of them received the fewest votest.

The act who received the fewest votes is: Only The Young

To be honest, I’m okay with this result. What they did with that lovely Elton John ballad was tragic arrangement-vise. It just didn’t work.

Another act will depart tomorrow night. Take That and Labrinth perform.

It’s Whitney Houston vs. Elton John on this week of The X Factor, but it seemed to also be ‘Bring your family to work’ day.

What illness? Cheryl Fernandez-Versini stuns in a plunging blue gown on The X Factor after battling throat infection
It was hit or miss that Cheryl Fernandez-Versini would be appearing on The X Factor Saturday night, after suffering with a throat infection.

But the Geordie judge looked radiant as she arrived on stage for the singing competition with Simon Cowell, Mel B and Louis Walsh.

Baby it’s cold outside! Cheryl F-V and husband Jean-Bernard layer on the winter warmers to leave X Factor as Mel B is brave in sleeveless dress
Mel B looked like she would be the next victim of Cheryl Fernandez-Versini’s throat cold on Saturday night as she left the X Factor in just a sleeveless dress.

But when it came to fighting infection, Cheryl wasn’t taking any chances as she and husband Jean-Bernard played it safe in oversized coats.

It was feared that the 31-year-old might not make the evening show, after coming down with strep throat earlier in the week but it didn’t look like she was suffering when she was dolled up for the main event.
