WINNING the X Factor wasn’t MATT TERRY’s only victory this week.

After beating SAARA AALTO, the singer has landed another coup — a record deal with Sony label RCA.

I’ve learned that bosses want RCA to look after Matt’s career in order to turn him into the next OLLY MURS, who is also signed to the label.

It’s an interesting move as it means SIMON COWELL will not directly guide his career at his label Syco, as he has done with former X Factor winners LITTLE MIX and JAMES ARTHUR.

A source revealed: “Simon and Sony have had a think and believe that Matt is very much an artist in the mould of Olly Murs.

It hasn’t even been a week since the results have been revealed, yet Matt’s debut single When Christmas Comes Around written by Ed Sheeran has already made number one in the iTunes chart.

It seems like Matt is rocketing to stardom right before our eyes and the year to come will surely see the singer make his mark on the music industry. We caught up with the X Factor champ just after his big win and here’s his take on it all.

X Factor winner Matt Terry will be fighting a fellow finalist in the charts sooner than anyone expected when Honey G releases her first single this Friday (December 23) – but rather than being bitter about the face off, Matt insists that it’s no big deal.

“I’m happy she’s got a record deal,” he told the Big Top 40 radio show today (December 18) after his first release ‘When Christmas Comes Around’ entered the charts at No.3.

And that graciousness extends to Honey G’s shock appearance on the X Factor final last weekend (December 11). He said: “She’s smart – she took the opportunity to promote her single, she’s got brains.”

The X Factor champ, 23, sparked rumours of a gay relationship with his co-star Freddy, 18, after eagle-eyed ITV viewers spotted the pair sharing a secret smooch during the final episode.

But Matt confirmed that he’s interested in women at the X Factor wrap party at Mimi’s Private Members Club as onlookers spotted the star getting “handsy” with the brunette singer, 19.

A source told The Sun: “Matt hasn’t been too bothered by all the chatter that him and Freddy are in a secret relationship and has instead been putting in a lot of effort to win over Caroline.

The contract now makes Matt Terry signing to RCA appear like he was snubbed by King Cowell – which he basically was.

Although the official line was that RCA was better suited to Matt’s type of music (probably a true statement), if Simon really wanted him he would have signed him regardless.

To rub salt into Matt’s wounds, even Honey-bloody-G managed to land herself a contract with Syco.

A former X-Factor singer has been banned from driving for 20 months after he was caught at twice the drink-driving limit when he left a gig at his local golf club.

Aiden Grimshaw, 25, who appeared on the hit show in 2010 along with One Direction, was breathalysed in Blackpool after his VW car was seen parked at an angle on a grass verge.

He had been playing at the golf club [that was not named in court], where he drank two and a half pints.

He had parked his car there and did not know whether he could leave it overnight.

He decided to move it but his battery went flat and so he had to pull onto the grass in Forest Gate, where police found him at 1.35am on November 28.

Together, Takhar and Cowell have achieved more than 400m record sales at Syco, across artists such as Ella Henderson, Fifth Harmony, Il Divo, James Arthur, Labrinth, Leona Lewis, Little Mix, One Direction and Susan Boyle.

Syco celebrated its 30th UK No.1 album last month when Little Mix’s Glory Days became the fastest selling album by a UK girl band since The Spice Girls’ Spiceworld in 1997.
