‘I compromised myself for X Factor’: Matt Cardle now cringes at his performances on the talent show that made him famous
His raw talent and good looks won him last year’s X Factor crown.

But the experience may not have been as enjoyable for Matt Cardle as his fans have been led to believe.

In a new interview with Look magazine, the 28-year-old declares that he ‘massively compromised’ himself for the show.

‘I wore yellow trousers and sang Katy Perry’s Firework for f**** sake!’ he says. ‘Singing pop songs without my guitar and covered in make-up didn’t sit right.

The very first X Factor winner, Steve Brookstein, thinks Matt Cardle might be in trouble:

stevebrookstein steve brookstein
did I really see matt cardle wearing fake tattoos? I thought that is something pre-teens do. #xfactor. surely i’m mistaken.

stevebrookstein steve brookstein
Matt Cardle might get dropped. I only bad mouthed the show after Cowell screwed me over. Not before. Silly man.

stevebrookstein steve brookstein
so apparently I got ‘dropped’ after a number one album and single. What is going to happen to Matt Cardle? #iTunesNumber5

stevebrookstein steve brookstein
“@KimsShowbizLife: @stevebrookstein Only number 5? Bad for him, the curse of X Factor (solo men)” Cowell only likes boybands & black chicks

Steve also has a blog: Searching For Cheese – The ramblings of an insignificant man.

Gary Barlow – run for your life
This week our X Factor blogger and winner of the first show, Steve Brookstein, gives us the low-down on the latest episode…
I also felt for current “winner” Matt Cardle who performed what sounded like a Take That track that didn’t make their album. He sounded great but made it clear that he had been doing hardly any singing this year. What? When you consider those chumps One Direction have a tour, another single and even dolls ready for Christmas; we know who the real winners were, and to make matters worse for Matt he was immediately up-staged by superstar Cee-lo Green. Surely, it would have made sense to have a female vocalist on to compliment his performance?

The talent search that has manufactured all THREE of the remaining groups has totally abandoned the TV audience over 25 years of age as it has identified that the best commercial success has come from teenage pop schlop like JLS and One Direction. The X Factor is now unashamedly selling to the kids. Mum and dad are cutting back on the food shop so they are tipping kids upside down for their pocket money instead.

Femme Fatale copycat or just Born This Way? X Factor star Kitty Brucknell emulates Britney just days after mimicking Gaga
It seems Kitty Brucknell has already learned that talent is only a small percentage of becoming a star.

Creating headlines with bizarre behaviour and dressing provocatively is likely to cause just as much furore when it comes to winning The X Factor.
