There’s a heartbreaking moment in the new film charting the rise of boy band One Direction.
The mother of group member Liam Payne, a 19-year-old Wolverhampton lad who is unashamed of admitting that his favourite movie is still Toy Story, is seen breaking down in the merchandise tent at Madison Square Garden in New York where the band is playing.
Karen Payne sobs inconsolably as she is filmed buying a £34.99 cardboard cut-out of her son. She says: ‘We miss him. He left home my little boy and became the boy in a magazine. If I have this I can still see him every day. When I see him on stage I absolutely burst with pride, but we do miss him so much.’

The fivesome just released a brand new clip for the film, which finally hits theaters August 30, just five days after they make an appearance at the 2013 Video Music Awards, where they are up for the coveted Moonman for Best Song of the Summer for “Best Song Ever.”

One Direction has drawn an estimated 18,000 Directioners to Rockefeller Center, NYPD estimated, all packing into about two New York City blocks outside a temporarily renamed Studio 1D.
“It seems to me this is the biggest crowd we’ve ever had,” Al Roker said.

Rebecca Ferguson has formally announced the release of her new album.
The singer will release Freedom on December 2 as her second studio album.

X Factor acts domestically sold 30 million singles and 18 million albums
The X Factor launches its 10th UK series next weekend as Music Week reveals its acts have domestically sold a staggering 30 million singles and 18 million albums.
The huge totals mean that since the programme first aired in 2004, combined X Factor discoveries have sold more records in the UK than any corporate record group outside the majors, based on Official Charts Company data.
Our exclusive analysis shows acts uncovered during the first nine series have sold around 29.6 million singles in the UK – equivalent to 2.7% of singles sales since first winner Steve Brookstein’s debut hit was issued. They have also shifted 18.3 million albums; a 2.2% share of the artist LP market between the release of Brookstein’s introductory album and now.

‘X Factor’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ are here to stay, says ITV boss
ITV boss Peter Fincham has hinted that Simon Cowell’s talent shows will remain on the channel for years to come.
Speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival today (August 23), ITV’s director of television stated that The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent are likely to continue for the foreseeable future.
“Huge brands like The X Factor and BGT are absolutely central to our schedule,” he told the panel.
“I think they’re going to be around for a long time to come.”

Indeed, the pandemonium that greeted the 1D boys in Leicester Square when they attended the world premiere of their new film on Tueday is testament to The X Factor’s ability to turn regular kids into global stars.
But while the band go from strength to strength following their appearance on the show in 2011, a new crop of contestants will be vying for this year’s crown when the new series kicks off on August 31.
The new series will see the usual tears and tantrums as hopefuls go through their make or break auditions – as well as a significant change to the judging panel.
