Billboard ranks the highest-paid musicians of the past year.
No. 1 — One Direction’s Where We Are stadium tour was the biggest draw of 2014, attended by more than 3.4 million fans in five months. That translated into a total $40.7 million box-office take, or an average of $8 million apiece for the prefab group’s members — 21-year-olds Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne (the youngest artists on this list); the recently departed Zayn Malik, 22; and Louis Tomlinson, 23. Though Malik’s exit clouds the band’s future, 1D’s recorded music showed no signs of lag in 2014: More than 1.3 million album sales and 716.1 million streams meant $4.8 million in combined royalties.

It’s no secret that One Direction’s music has been embracing rock influences more and more with each album release. And now the guys are diving even deeper into that world on their fifth album, which they are currently working on.
When Liam Payne called into Capital FM in the U.K. on Monday (April 27), he opened up a bit about what fans will hear on this latest album release, the group’s first since Zayn Malik left the band in March.
“The albums coming together really well actually. The boys we’ve been writing with have come up with some great, great songs that are kind of like a bit Oasis-y almost which is ace,” he shared. “I love that.”

Take That star Mark Owen has offered his advice to One Direction in the wake of Zayn Malik’s decision to quit the band in March.

He had a crazy night earlier in the week but on Sunday One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson got back to work at the recording studio.
The 23-year-old star was spotted leaving a London studio over the weekend, just a couple of days after his hotel suite party where he was pictured with a suspicious looking cigarette.
Feeling shy, newly single Louis kept his head down as he headed home after working on 1D’s new music, flashing a small smile for waiting fans.

He was recently tipped to be heading for Hollywood after meeting with Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha, following his sensational exit from One Direction.
And Zayn Malik has further fuelled the fire that he’s going to be making the huge career step, as he has been spending time with the British film-maker.
The 55-year-old shared a picture on her Twitter page on Tuesday, of herself with the 22-year-old former 1D star, as she added that he was feeling much better.

One Direction fans were sent into a frenzy after a Twitter user claimed they spotted Harry Styles using public transport while in California.
The picture was posted with the caption: ‘Harry on a bus in LA!’
It’s unclear if it’s definitely the 21-year-old but the man bun and side-profile certainly looked familiar.

He only passed his driving test two years ago.
But Harry Styles seems to have already accumulated an impressive collection of cars.
The One Direction was spotted out and about in Beverly Hills on Friday driving a stylish 1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL convertible.

Weeks after announcing that he’d quit One Direction, Zayn Malik has put in the final nail in the social media coffin by removing all references to the boy band from his Twitter profile.
The 22-year-old singer quit the group in March and has now had his handle on the micro-blogging site changed from @ZaynMalik1D to @ZaynMalik and removed his brief biography entirely.
After the changes, Zayn posted just one cryptic tweet on Thursday night, which read: ‘Is speech an extension to our thoughts or an image that we like to create x (sic).’

WATCH out on the roads this Bank Holiday, because Zayn Malik is finally taking driving lessons.
The Bradford boy quit One Direction to “live a normal life” last month.
And one of the first normal things the 22-year-old is doing is getting his driving licence.
The news came from fellow pop star Foxes, who is currently also having lessons from the same instructor.
Foxes, AKA Louisa Allen, 26, told me: “I’m learning to drive. “The instructor is lovely.
“He’s instructing one of One Direction at the moment, and he’s done Adele.
“He was telling me all about One Direction. That was quite good banter.”
The instructor is Neil Gaughan, who as well as Adele made fellow 1D members Niall Horan, 21, and Liam Payne, 21, roadworthy.
Zayn – who removed 1D from his Twitter handle yesterday – will be the last member of the band to pass his test, despite buying a £32,000 Bentley car way back in 2012.

X Factor’s Lucy Spraggan’s new album will be ‘quite dark’ after star ‘lost it’ on Prozac
FORMER X Factor star Lucy Spraggan revealed she “lost it” on a drugs cocktail of Prozac and Xanax after quitting the reality TV roller-coaster in 2012.
Opening up about her secret battle for the first time, brave Lucy told me: “Some of the new album is quite dark because I lost it in 2013.
“I went travelling for three months, had a top ten album and after that lost my identity.
“I was living off Prozac and Xanax at the same time so I was super-mad.”
