Well if it worked for The Monkees… One Direction’s Liam and Louis copy the original ’60s boyband as they hit the beach
They’ve already recreated moments of Beatlemania while touring the U.S. and now that One Direction are Down Under, they’re continuing that trend.
In scenes very similar to those seen in The Monkees opening credits Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson changed into their wetsuits and hit Manly Beach in Sydney yesterday.
The two singers were spotted tackling the waves with their surfboards as they took a break from their hectic schedule.

They’ve already got thousands of girls watching their every move and swooning at their feet.

Because today, a plaza in the heart of Sydney was filled to capacity with screaming teenage girls, eager to catch a glimpse of their One Direction idols as they arrived for a TV interview.
And so hysterical were they that not only were the police forced to erect steel fencing to stop the mob, but some fans required medical treatment after passing out from all the excitement.

Feuding bands are nothing new and Britain’s two most promising exports reportedly nearly came to blows in Los Angeles recently.
But, despite talking the talk, a growing feud between the bands appears to be more than the clean-cut manufactured One Direction could cope with.
So instead of a scuffle in the car park with The Wanted, security guards acted as mediators between the rivals and managed to negotiate a truce – resulting in hugs instead of bloody noses.
However, Liam Payne was sporting a rather sore looking marking on his neck as the X Factor stars left Sydney airport.

The boy band One Direction was so concerned the other big boy band, The Wanted, was gonna beat on them, they tried to flee a Burbank studio … but then The Wanted boys showed up.
Here’s what we know … On April 4, One Direction was rehearsing for SNL at CenterStaging, a Burbank rehearsal studio. Sources connected with CenterStaging tell us … security for the band became aware that The Wanted was about to show up to rehearse for their “American Idol” performance the next day.
We’re told the boys from One Direction — all of them except Liam — were scared because the British tabloids have been writing about tension and smack talk between the 2 bands. The One Direction lads talked about the guys from The Wanted being tough guys (which apparently is true) and they were worried about getting taunted and manhandled.

ONE DIRECTION already have their fair share of admirers across the globe – but I suspect they’re about to get a few more.
I can reveal the lads have been handed a £10million fortune by record boss SIMON COWELL for what they’ve earned in the seven months after they released their first single.
Yep, they’re not just fit (not sure I’m supposed to say that at my age…) but now they’re loaded too!
HARRY STYLES, NIALL HORAN and LIAM PAYNE, all 18, ZAYN MALIK, 19, and LOUIS TOMLINSON, 20, received £2million each – making them some of the world’s most highly eligible bachelors.
Their fortune comes off the back of their amazing success in America, where they became the most successful UK band ever when they topped the Billboard charts with debut album Up All Night.

The American group with the same name as X Factor stars One Direction say they will not let Simon Cowell intimidate them.
The five boys are suing the music mogul for $1 million (£630,000) in damages, and a share of the British group’s profits, claiming trademark infringement.
Speaking to Radio 1’s Newsbeat via Skype, singer Sean O’Leary and bassist Scott Nagereda said they wouldn’t back down.
