Leaving the most successful boyband on the planet was a huge gamble.
But it appears to have paid off for Zayn Malik as the the singer’s debut release Pillowtalk has reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
Thrilled with the result, the former One Direction singer, 23, took to Twitter on Sunday to write: ‘What is gwaning :) !! I can’t explain the love and gratitude i feel today, thank you for making this happen’

His first single has topped the US music charts, making him the first UK artist to bag the coveted spot with a debut single.
And shortly after the news broke, Zayn Malik took to his social media sites to share a picture of himself holding onto a number one balloon as he celebrated the success.
His debut release, Pillowtalk, went straight to the top on the Billboard Hot 100 after going to number one in over 60 countries on the iTunes charts.

Possibly his most outrageous yet, the former One Direction star revealed he has dyed the top section of his jet-black crop a bright pink colour on Twitter and it’s safe to say, fans were divided.
To debut the shocking new look, the 23-year-old shared a shameless shirtless selfie, in which he turned to the side in order to capture his new barnet at the best angle.

And now a copy of the birth certificate for Louis Tomlinson’s son has been released, after it was tracked down by In Touch magazine.
The document shows how the One Direction star’s child has be named Freddie Reign Tomlinson, and confirms he was born on January 21 at 6.23 pm at the Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, California.

BACK STORY At 17, East (yes, that’s her real name) made it past X Factor U.K. auditions with her girl group Addictiv Ladies in 2005 — much to judge Simon Cowell’s skepticism — but only lasted a week on the show. Still, it sparked a hunger: “I knew from that moment that music is 100 percent what I wanted to do,” the singer-rapper-dancer says.
SECOND CHANCES After a stint at journalism school, East eked by as a session vocalist and waitress. “It got to a point where I had to take my final shot or switch to a different career,” she says. She took a friend’s advice to audition for The X Factor in 2014 again, this time as a solo act. “Simon said to me, ‘We don’t want to repeat the last time,’ ” she recalls. “I thought, ‘Great, thanks, no pressure.’ ” But East rose to the challenge and then some: She came in second place — thanks to a performance of Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk!” that hit No. 1 in the U.K. iTunes store — then signed with Cowell’s Syco imprint in 2015.

This time, she’s not promoting her most recent album “I Am“, released in 2015. This new track is a rendition of Elton John’s 1970 classic “Your Song“.
It’s confirmed as the main theme of Swedish brand Fritidsresors, specially for the launch of Sensimar Resorts, where “Your Song” highlights real love with the help of real-life couple Charlotte and Valentine, starrin in the official music video to go with it.
This is not the first a big international artist has released a cover of this hit, back in 2010, Ellie Goulding made her own rendition which reached the number 2 in the UK.

Taking to the stage at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, the 18-year-old owned the crowd’s attention as she dazzled in a metallic bodysuit.
