One Direction Celebrates Upcoming ‘Midnight Memories’ Release in L.A. With Performance, Q&A
Friday afternoon (Nov. 22), One Direction celebrated the release of “Midnight Memories” with a show at L.A.’s new iHeartRadio venue.

Shortly after 2 p.m., the British-Irish pop stars appeared in front of a sea of screaming female fans and a handful of their parental chaperones. The band treated the audience to a Q&A session moderated by Ryan Seacrest and fielded questions from a few lucky fans. They also performed several tracks off their forthcoming release including “Best Song Ever,” “Story of My Life” and the title track, in addition to hits like “What Makes You Beautiful.”

Seacrest walked the audience through the band’s origin, reminiscing with the guys about their early days of auditioning for “X Factor,” meeting Simon Cowell and uniting as One Direction. They also touched on the writing process behind this album and how, unlike their previous two releases, this album was pieced together on the go.

One Direction Talk ‘Midnight Memories,’ Fans, & the Future: The Billboard Cover Story Q&A
“Midnight Memories,” One Direction’s third album (out November 25) is perhaps the most representative work of the band’s five members to date, with the group contributing lyrics to 12 of the 14 songs on the standard edition (and an additional three on the 18-track deluxe.) It boasts more guitar work from member Niall Horan, and an abundance of references to ’80s rock, from the Joan Jett-esque title track to the Police-worthy “Diana” and a more overt rewriting of Rick Springfield’s “Jesse’s Girl” on bonus cut “Does He Know.”

One Direction’s new album ‘Midnight Memories’: What’s the verdict?
The trouble with being a pop phenomenon adored by teenage girls everywhere is that a majority of the audience outside of that core fanbase refuses to take the music 100% seriously.

One Direction received scoffs and sarcasm when they teased a more “mature” and “rockier” sound for their third outing in as many years. We all know the boyband’s latest collection will top charts globally no matter what, but the question is, does it deserve to on musical merit alone?

When we first heard lead single ‘Best Song Ever’ back in the summer, those claims of maturity seemed dubious at best, despite the track being a sugary, addictive treat. A more serious singer-songwriter approach was notable on follow-up ‘Story of My Life’, a folk-washed and reflective anthem that warmed hearts across all time zones.

One Direction: Midnight Memories – review
(Syco/Sony)

After two albums of flirting, hand-holding and coltish fumbling at parties, One Direction might just have finally gone all the way on their third album, Midnight Memories. Maybe.

There is a track on the deluxe edition – widely disseminated online – called Why Don’t We Go There, in which Harry Styles propositions some nubile interlocutor. “We got all night,” he reasons, “we’re going nowhere/ Why don’t you stay?/ Why don’t we go… there?” he asks, eyebrow cocked. “If you give in tonight/ Just let me set you free.” If you are a squeaky-clean boy band attempting to manage a transition into your 20s, naming your ever-so-slightly-more-grown-up album Midnight Memories, you are probably going to have to acknowledge, somehow, that things happen in the dark other than the nonstop japery of your first album, Up All Night, and all the “going crazy-crazy-crazy till we see the sun” of album number two, Take Me Home. This is not a bad way of going about it: parking a little lust on the deluxe edition.

‘He’s the most famous person in my phone after Nicole Scherzinger. I hope he fancies me – he’s cool.’

Chris Maloney naked pictures: Twitter react to former X Factor star’s Gay Times photoshoot
Chris Maloney might have sparked controversy and divided opinion during his time on The X Factor last year.

But it seems his naked photoshoot for Gay Times magazine has failed to cause any reaction than both shock and horror.

The pictures of the Liverpudlian singer cocking his leg up like a puppy with a bladder problem and another of his actual bum cheek went viral – in the non-medicinal sense of the phrase, obviously.

It begs the question whether or not his dear nan will get a souvenir copy or just pretend this double-page, er, spread didn’t ever happen.

Nicole Scherzinger sparks reports of drinking on X Factor AGAIN after posting picture with a half-drunk bottle of champagne in the background
Nicole Scherzinger sparked reports that she was drunk on Saturday’s X Factor show after she tweeted a picture of herself with an empty bottle of sparkling wine and a full glass of red wine.

The X Factor judge captioned the picture: ‘Please vote for my #SCHERZYGIRLS Thank u to my #Schamazing Glam team.’

The former Pussycat Dolls singer was forced to deny being drunk on the ITV show earlier this month, after appearing on the Disco themed show in higher spirits than usual, even forgetting to introduce one of her acts.

Posting the picture on Twitter after the show, four wine glasses can clearly be seen along with a half-drunk bottle of sparkling rose wine and a half-drunk glass of what appears to be red wine.
