Marvin Humes prepares to sign contract that will make him the next Calvin Harris
FORMER JLS hunk Marvin Humes is on the verge of signing a big bucks solo deal with a major record label.

The Voice host and Capital FM DJ hopes to put pen to paper and finalise the contract in the next week.

Marv told fans to expect a new single by late summer and an album by the end of the year.

But don’t expect to hear him singing because his vocals won’t feature on a single track.

Revealing he has recorded over 40 songs, Marv told me:

“I’m literally in the process of signing the deal right now.

“If it was in two weeks I would probably have signed and be able to tell you.

“All I can say is it will be with a major label and my project is coming together really, really well.

“I’ll definitely release a single this year and I’m confident I will release an album.

I’ve a hunch that’s James Arthur: I Can’t Sing villain based on X Factor winner
IF you think Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole come off badly in Harry Hill’s X Factor spoof I Can’t Sing then spare a thought for poor James Arthur.
I’m told the show’s villain – a furious hunchback called Trevor Modo – is supposed to be a cross between the rebellious X Factor champ and the Hunchback of Notre-Dame.

In the musical a deformed Trevor auditions for the hit show to save himself from a life of poverty.

But despite having a perfect sob story and a great voice, Trevor is sent packing by “Cowell” who tells him he’s not the right package to be a pop star.

Seeking revenge Trevor then breaks out into a huge rap number about injustice in the music industry.

According to my source the script was altered late on to tie in with James after his recent Twitter meltdowns.

And while his boss Simon Cowell didn’t write it himself he’s clearly given it the go ahead.

Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon has reportedly held secret talks about a surprise move to ITV’s X Factor.

Alesha, 35, is understood to be one of the main options to sit alongside Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and possibly Louis Walsh on the show’s new-look judging panel.

“Alesha has been seriously considered as the fourth judge,” an X Factor source reportedly told the Sun on Sunday.

“She’s part of the Syco family and Simon is a huge fan. She would probably be up for doing it if she got the nod from Simon.

“Cheryl and Alesha have always got on well so there are no problems.”

Simon Cowell has lowered the entry age this year for The X Factor to 14 in the hope of finding another, even younger, One Direction.

According to The Sun newspaper he is convinced that the next big thing could be a young star, or a young group.

The last time that The X Factor allowed such young contestants on the show was in 2008 when Liam Payne from One Direction made it all the way to the judge’s house in Barbados before he exited the show. After that year the show’s limit went up to 16 where it has remained until now.

  • Eric Ascher

Well, Sam Bailey didn’t totally flop, in fact, she did great. I was right!

  • Mateja Praznik

Not really. The album’s lead single didn’t even chart.

  • girlygirl

    14? That’s way too young.

  • kcostell

The US X-Factor tried putting the minimum age very low. The results (particularly the elimination shows) were flat-out uncomfortable.

  • Eric Ascher

Because they didn’t let it. If they wanted it to have a shot, they would’ve released it earlier. The album did great.

  • Eric Ascher

better than 12. but I do agree.

  • Chessguy99

Not really, UK education system is geared to have students either on a University track or vocational track by 16. The performing arts schools allow students to start at age 14 or wait until the 16. I’m guessing the age change is intended to attract those singers who qualify for early entry into performing arts schools.

  • JustJam

I wonder if they’re planning on creating a Teens category for the next series of X-Factor? They’ll probably fuse the Overs singers onto the Boys and Girls categories instead.

  • Face

I guess it’s too early to tell… single hasn’t charted and is getting next to no radio play… which doesn’t bode well for longer term success of the album…
her success these last 2 weeks has been linked to Mother’s Day in the UK… all the masses of promo she got was linked to that…
I’d be interested to see where she is in the charts by the end of the month… bigger test yet is how successful the 2nd album is (assuming there is one)…
let’s not forget that other winners like Cardle have been labelled failures as they did not break out of the UK XF bubble… and his album still went platinum in the UK (which is 300k)…
Mateja, do you know how many copies Sam sold this week?
