Amelia Lily‘s music video has premiered on Vevo.

X Factor UK season 8 3rd place finisher filmed music video for “You Bring Me Joy” in Los Angeles.

“You Bring Me Joy” will be released on for sale on September 2nd. The original release date was August 26th, but TPTB moved release dates of Amelia’s and Little Mix’s single a week back, so Little Mix will release “Wings” on August 26th.

I love it. I hope it does well. I have a strange feeling this song and Wings might flop on radio. Especially with such far away release dates.

Do I know her?  Should I?

Oops, read it wrong. Never mind.

Why are Little Mix not releasing Wings for another month? Seems stupid & encouraging those who like the song to download it illegally

That’s how single releases work in the UK. It’s a hot mess, but it goes something like this:

First, single premieres on radio and audio is uploaded to Vevo, so the fans can listen. A few weeks later, the video debuts and is uploaded to Vevo. That means it’s usually filmed before the song is premiered. Then, at least one month later, song finally becomes available for sale (Sunday at midnight). Singles start collecting pre-orderes way before the release, so first week sales are always inflated. Radioplay builds from the song premiere to iTunes release. Basically, everything is focused on the first week of iTunes release. So, after the first week, usually the only way for singles is down the chart. Time between the premiere and sales date differs, I think it’s between 8 to 12 weeks.

On air/on sale releases (usual USA practice) are rare. Rihanna can drop new single on iTunes UK on Wednesday and get #1 single by Sunday. And Lady Gaga. Maroon 5′s label dropped “Moves Like Jagger” like that and it was a massive hit, but never got to #1 – it spent weeks and weeks at #2 and #3 while songs released the usual way (suppressed releases) debuted at #1 and then dropped down the chart. UK singles chart moves a lot faster than BB HOT 100 and it’s based only on sales.

A few years ago they tried to adopt on air/on sale policy, but it didn’t work out, the labels prefer to secure #1 singles by suppressing sales.

Amelia is absolutely gorgeous and this song (You Bring Me Joy) should go #1 immediately upon release.  I am so happy they have allowed her to return to a clean natural look.

Umm okay positives first I liked the first verse and she reminds of a young christina Aguilera looks-wise. Oh and it feels like a fleshed out video and not low budget. The negative her voice got annoying to me. There is this weird echco-y inflection on her notes. I guess it’s some type of music trick but it got on my nerves also the song is too repetitive. I know choruses are supposed to repeat but it just felt monotonous.

This song will probably do okay but w/ her vocal ability she deserved something to show it off.
