The second audition episode of X Factor UK 2011 aired tonight. Check out the highlights here!

X Factor UK season 8, episode 2. It’s time for London auditions. The judges arrive in style and here is our first candidate:

Johnny Robinson, 45 year old singer from Harrow, London. At the beginning, it was hard to take him seriously. However, it was another “Susan Boyle” moment for us when Johnny launched into Etta James’ “At Last”. He received a standing ovation from the audience and 4 yeses from the judges.

Derry Mensah, 20, a big fan of judge Kelly Rowland, sang Usher’s “Can You Help Me”. He was given 4 yeses, but don’t expect him to go far. The Sun has an article about his criminal past.

Then it was time for Liverpool, hometown of The Beatles and X Factor’s Rebecca Ferguson.

Mark Byron, 21, was up first, but he didn’t impress with his rendition of Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In The World)”.

Craig Colton, 22, was next up. He auditioned for The X Factor in Liverpool earlier this year but he didn’t tell his parents what he was up to. Craig then got tickets for the auditions for his parents and told them that he couldn’t attend. Imagine their surprise when their son took the stage to sing ‘Hiding My Heart’ by Adele.

Duo The Duos slaughtered Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy”.

After a day filled with terrible auditions from terrible groups, the judges were dying to find a good group. Then, boyband The Keys, 23-26, appeared. The judges loved them, especially Take That’s Gary Barlow. The Keys sort of remind me of One Direction, but 1D boys are younger and cuter.

And the highlight of the night?

Misha Bryan, 19, from Manchester, got rave reviews from the judges and a standing ovation from the audience. She belted out Aretha Franklin’s “Respect”. In her intro clip, Misha told Dermot O’Leary that she was abandoned by her mother as an infant, doesn’t know who her father is and was raised by her aunt.

Thanks Mateja for the link which you actually gave last week.
I’m trying to watch it right now.
Just from the short clips of the judges, I don’t think I’m going to like Kelly Rowland. We’ll see.

i missed the first 15 minutes because i was having trouble installing/upgrading plugins to stream properly, but i really, really enjoyed the guy who sang adele (greg?), the keys, and misha. i’m still not over janet from last week though. she’s still, far and above my favorite this season so far.

and i have to disagree with ratna on kelly. i’m loving her!!

I’ve started to watch some of XFactor UK on YouTube. Really liking Will Young. Was he a long time ago or recent?

Will was the first winner of Simon Fuller’s Pop Idol, which was the show that spawned all of the Idol shows. Simon Cowell left Pop Idol, and started X-Factor, which proved to be more popular than Pop Idol, and lead to that show’s cancellation.

I don’t think we have to worry about Fox cancelling AI if the X-Factor has better ratings, since Fox would love to have two relatively cheap shows that are the highest rated shows on television.

The last girl – Misha I think – was amazing!

I based it on the fact that she kept asking the guy auditioner to lift up his shirt. Remind me of Casey James and Kara.

Is this still X Factor ? Why is this guy still singing for the past hour (it seems like it to me) ?

ETA: Never mind, I just read Mateja intro. I guess it is a special.

    Nvm.

Craig Colton was my favorite with a bullet. Great recording voice and what seems like a naturale talent for storytelling. It was so easy to just close my eyes and float on the waves of his voice, I want an mp3 of this audition. Of course this is not really a CHR material, but what the hell, I’m going to enjoy great singing while it lasts.
    Also liked The Keys.

he really reminded me of a male adele (probably why i liked him so much haha. i’m obsessed with her!)

Loved Craig, the Keys, and Misha.
Craig sounds a bit too much like Adele, like he’s mimicking her.
Did anyone tell the Keys about a little American show called Sing-Off? ;)
Misha – sings like JHud and raps too – what a combo! Plus she didn’t rush the song at all, the first time anyone actually made me listen to all the words.

I thought the first guy who sang At Last was a little odd.

Craig Colton and Misha Bryan were both interesting. Misha actually had me clapping with her rendition, and I thought it was pretty damn good. Craig wasn’t perfect, but there were some good things going on in there.

The Keys weren’t really my type (not particularly a fan of groups), but they were kinda cool too. Better than One Direction, that’s for sure. They harmonize better and have an interesting sound.

Thought Misha was great. Love that she did that remix in the middle.

I actually really like Kelly– kind of wish we had her instead of Nicole (just judging from The Sing Off)– but hopefully Nicole works out

Except The KEys can sing and are able to harmonize. Something that can’t be said of 1D with straight face.

I liked yesterdays show, btw. It was great tv.

Not sure about the talents though… no one has stood out for me yet.
