X Factor Top 16 – Who is Going Home? PLUS POLLS!

X Factor judges will send home one contestant from their team tonight based on last night’s performances. Who would you send home? Which acts do you think the judges will send home? America does not vote until next week. So let’s see if we can put ourselves in the mind of the judges!

Heres’s who I think will go home and who I think the judges will eliminate:

Britney’s Teens – I’d send home Diamond White. She’s the weakest of all the singers on Britney’s team. I think Britney will send either Diamond or Beatrice home. Carly is the best singer in the group and Arin is the only boy. She’ll keep them.

Demi’s Young Adults – I would send home Willie Jones. He’s only on the team because of the novelty of an African American singer performing country. Which isn’t that novel if you think about it, considering the popularity of Darius Rucker. Willie is lacking serious vocal chops and it’s painful to watch Demi turn him into a joke. But I think she’ll hang on to Willie and send home the charisma-free Paige Thomas instead.

LA’s Over 25s – This is easy. BYE JASON BROCK. He’s the joke contestant. But unlike say, Jedward from the UK show, he’s neither fun nor funny. He promised to bring the glitter, but last night’s performance was just BAD. However, I think LA and Simon are not finished. They’ll want him around a few more weeks as a comic punching bag. I think LA will send home David Correy, who seems super nervous on stage. I get the sense LA doesn’t think he’s very good.

Simon Cowell Groups – I would send home either 1432 or Sister C. Sister C are better singers than 1432, but I have a feeling they would be eliminated as soon as America began voting. They aren’t connecting. and for that reason, I think Simon will definitely be sending them home. Plus, he has no clue what to do with them. Or Lyric 145 for that matter. But I digress.

I like 1432… except their name. Between them and Lyric 145, I feel like I’m ordering a pizza.

  • http://twitter.com/1outside Maj

Since the first show was so luckluster, this mostly goes down to just personal preferences (except for Jennel and Emblem 3, no-one was actually great).

From teens I’d eliminate Arin (but that won’t happen since he’s the only boy).
From young adults I’d eliminate Paige. She isn’t owning her new outrageous image, she’s boring and not much of a singer.
From groups I’d get rid of 1432 even though I did like them in the judges’ houses. This is hard. Before the show I’d say Emblem 3 because I don’t like their personalities – but they did deliver probably the best performance of the night. I think Sister C are toast though, and I’m not happy about it.
And from overs I’d eliminate Jason. Yeah, he can quite sing but he’s not really bringing much of the show. And he’s not bad enough to be a joke act ala British XF.

  • Keyera Mullins

I wasn’t impressed with last nights show. Not sure if it was the song choices or what, but I sure hope it gets better.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/JC5VIWKY7SZ67OVWR2ISVCWYKY Brian

It would be awfully mean to send home Paige after telling her to shave her head.

  • jobeob987

I hope David Correy isn’t eliminated because he’s one of the best singers here.  Ditto with Jennel, Carly Rose and Sister C who I had never paid attention to until last night.  Those girls harmonize beautifully.  And while CeCe didn’t exactly show off her vocals, I know what she’s capable of and would give her one more shot.  Honestly, I don’t know what Demi was thinking giving her a routine where she had to dance and sing her first time on stage.  CeCe can bring it and I’m curious how her story will continue to arc.  The other girl group (the ones who are weirdly numbered) didn’t do well last night and they’re entirely capable also.  It’s as if they got swallowed up on that big stage; I’d give them another shot as well.

Mario Lopez?  A definite win for me.  The Kardashian chick … I’m still on the fence with her.  I really don’t see the need for both of them.

  • Kristie

Who I think will be sent home from each category:Teens – Beatrice Miller. It’s going to be a comparison between her and Carly Rose, I bet. I love her dearly and thought she had a good performance, so I won’t be too happy if this is the case.
Young Adults – Paige Thomas. She had the death spot and not a good song choice, which is sad because she was one of my initial favorites. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if she sticks around.Overs – Jason Brock. I feel they turned him into the “joke contestant” quickly.Groups – Sister C. They were still called out for being too stiff. If Simon did see that, (the only one who gave criticism to their contestants was Demi to CeCe) he might send them home.Who I would personally send home:Teens – Diamond White. I do really like her voice, but out of the four, I just feel she might be the weakest link.Young Adults – CeCe Frey. I just don’t get her. I’m not going to believe any “change” they try to throw at us. And her performance last night made me cringe, to be honest. She has potential but I’ve given her way too many chances.Overs – Jason Brock. He’s already been turned into the “joke contestant” and I find that sad. I loved his audition, but this didn’t do it for me.Groups – Sister C. Again, I like their sound. I just feel underwhelmed watching them.

I disagree with almost everyone about Carly Rose being better than Beatrice. Carly Rose is just a younger Jessica Sanchez, too polished and trained, but lacking some connection with the music. I feel like there’s nothing there .Beatrice has a raspy vocie and a kind of fragile/dark mood in her voice that’s just natural and incredibly rare for someone so young and I think it’s somehow beautiful. She’s actually the only one of the teens who’s older than her age and isn’t trying too hard to sounds like an adult. Sadly, she has been receiving the fodder edition and terrible song choices, so, she’ll leave the show soon.

  • http://twitter.com/ClaudeDee Claude Dee

I love Beatrice but I think Britney will send her home. *sob*

Young Adults – Paige Thomas, Weak weak weak. Over 25’s – Jason Brock, He’s fine but he’s too chill.Groups – Sister C. Unlikable, lacking X Factor

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

CeCe barely could breathe after her performance and even after the judge’s comments. The whole performance looked like a sabotage. But so Paige and Willie’s performances. I won’t get invested in any of the acts, since it seems that all of these contestants are pawns ready to be thrown under the bus by Simon at any moment.

The US version of X-Factor is way worse than the UK version.

  • http://twitter.com/1outside Maj

You’re right. But if I were her mentor I would not make her shave her head (and I have very, very short hair), so I wouldn’t have to feel bad about ditching her. (Well if I were her mentor I wouldn’t choose her at all. She’s very beautiful, but that’s about it).

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

Simon couldn’t care less and Demi and LA Reid seem to be ready to play his game.

  • http://twitter.com/1outside Maj

My thoughts on Carly…I think she should continue doing what she already is kind of doing: being a Broadway star. I think she’d shine there more. I could see her gradually becoming a recording star as well but I just feel XF is not the right environment for her. I hope this doesn’t come off as mean but I don’t think she is or should be a pop star for kiddies. I don’t think that’s her thing.
I wonder how she got on the XF. Plant from XF producers? Parents? She actually wanted this? I don’t know. I don’t think she needs this show TBH.

And yeah, I also hands down prefer Beatrice. I just wish they’d let her be  as dark as she wants to be. She’s not a clean cut kiddie pop star either and shouldn’t be. She’s way too interesting for that.

I speak from a position of someone who never related to teen stars, especially not when I was in the target age (over a decade ago). So if Beatrice somewhat impresses me it must mean she has a bigger potential than 3 years of fame and being manipulated and then rehab.

(Sorry if I come on too strong. Been a long day… :o)

  • sumidol

As long as CeCe and Vino stay I am happy, they are the best but were given the dumbest songs last night, please let them pick their own!

  • sumidol

Agree, Beatrice she is another fav of mine

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

Yep. I agree 100%. Carly Rose is perfect for Broadway. From what I know, she was having a promising career on Broadway. I don’t know why her team of managers and agents convinced her and her parents to try out for X-Factor. I think they were just trolled by Simon Cowell.

I absolutely agree with you on Beatrice too ;)

  • shell29

    My picks to go home:

Overs:  I have to disagree with you MJ on Jason Brock.  I hate that he’s being seen/portrayed as a “joke” contestant (I blame L.A. for that).  This guy has a great voice and I love his personality.  He sings circles around the true “joke” contestants we’ve seen on X Factor.  I’ll be very disappointed to see him leave.  As I mentioned last night, I really hate to see any of the overs go.  Even though I find Vino a bit more “interesting” than David Correy I think he had the worst performance from the Overs last night so I’d send him home (unfortunately-I’m inclined to blame L.A. again).

Young Adults:  On this we agree:  Willie Jones must go.  He’s there purely for novelty purposes.

Teens: Toss up between Diamond and Beatrice.  I’m thinking it’s going to be Beatrice but I won’t be surprised if it’s Diamond.  Carly and Arin aren’t going anywhere

Groups: Sister C or 54321.  Simon already cut one manufactured group so I could see him cutting the other one.  I think those girls are better than what they showed last night so I’m hoping it’s Sister C who goes.

  • genius13

I don’t get all the Carly hate..she was still, vocally, the best last night and this is still a SINGING competition…and Demi’s comments made no sense

  • Reflects On Life

Did anyone else ROFL as 1435 sang the words “We are never ever ever getting back together!”?  As if XF taking a major dig at them, foreshadowing them as losing this round (or next) and never sing together again?

At this point the only ones who hold my interest and attention as singers are Beatrice & Carly, in that order, with Diamond a distant 3rd – she’s a mini-Whitney in every way.

As a reality show contestant & character, the only one that interests me is Cece.

This year may have better talent, but last year’s XF had a more interesting cast of characters.  I can instantly recall so many of their names – melanie, josh, marcus, rachel, drew, astro, chris – just because their arcs held my attention.  By contrast, when I think of AI11, the only one that instantly comes to mind is Elise, and after jarring my brain I can slowly recount the others.  I hope XF2 holds up to XF1 entertainmentwise.

They’ll either lose Tate or keep him as the Josh of this season.

Carly could have done better on AGT.  She could have stayed true to who she is as a singer, won the darn thing, and made major bank selling albums of standards and showtunes afterwards. See what happened to the little opera girl there.

Beatrice is the only singer-songwriter type in this cast of performers and vocalists.  Which makes her stand out like a sore thumb.  Not sure any of these mentors know what to do with her, especially on such a big stage and with her being so young. Though they set her up as fodder this week, they’ll probably have her in the sing-off but she won’t get the boot this week. I’m sure they are watching her YT counts are seeing they wouldn’t be wise to let her go just yet.

  • irockhard

    Who I would eliminate:

Teens – Diamond, she’s my least fave of this bunchYoung Adults – Paige, she’s annoying and can’t pull off the outrageous image
    Groups – Sister C, they’re really boring
Overs – Tate, he’s the least interesting

  • Aidolfan

I have to disagree about Diamond. I think she is the best on Britney’s team and she is about on the same level as Carly. She should send home Beatrice IMO.

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Who leaves tonight:

Kids: Diamond should go, but I think that Beatrice will.

Young adults: Willie should go, but I think that Paige will.

Overs: Jason should go, but I think that David or Vino will.

    Groups: Don’t care. lol

  • Klaine

How is it going to work tonight. Will all 4 vote on who should be B2 & then those 2 sing & each mentor gets to eliminate one of their own? Or will the mentor do all the work?

  • irockhard

You’re not alone, I also prefer Beatrice to Carly for those exact same reasons.

I think Simon and L A agreed to hate on each other’s contestants to boost ratings.  Their negative comments about each other’s performers were OTT and not accurate.  It’s pathetic that they would act like this to boost ratings, given that the performers had to suffer the insults.  If that’s the best idea Simon has to boost ratings, I’ll just continue to watch the Voice.  It’s not cool to trash the contestants just to create a fake war for ratings.  Unfortunately I think this “war” will impact the results, regardless of talent.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jclaytonmusic John Rocketship Potter Clayton

    My predictions:

Over 25’s- Bottom 2- Vino vs Jason. Vino goes home. I think Jason is the only one LA actually likes on his team. Remember his comment about how Jason’s voice is a song’s best friend? Jason is a silly personality, but when he just stands and sings, he has an incredible instrument. With the right ballad, Jason could remind us all of that.
Young Adults- Bottom 2- Paige vs Cece. Paige goes home. (I actually think Demi likes Willie, or at least the idea of having a boy on her team).
Teens- Bottom 2- Diamond vs Beatrice. Diamond goes home. (I could see Arin being in the bottom, but he won’t go home).
Groups- Bottom 2- Sister C vs 1432. Sister C goes home. (I could see 1432 going home, but I think Simon will cut Sister C first.)

  • Jordana33

    1. All four of Britney’s contestants are promising, so it will be hard to eliminate one. Arin’s performance was the weakest last night, but his prior performances have been solid. Diamond was initially my least favorite, but I’m really impressed by how much she benefited from Britney’s help, so I hope she can stay and continue to work with Britney. Beatrice is a bit of an old soul and not as well matched with Britney as the others. For that reason, I could see Britney eliminating her.

    2. Either 1432 or Sister C should be eliminated, which is a shame, because they both have potential. Sister C needs better guidance and 1432 needs better group chemistry.

    3. Demi’s group had a lot of disappointing performances, but I’d probably send home Willie.

    4. Not crazy about the over 25s either. I liked David Correy’s performance the most, so I hope LA keeps him.

Ultimately, the biggest losers of the night were the people responsible for the sound mix. They really messed up a lot of the songs (especially 1432’s and Jason’s performance). Can they be eliminated??

  • http://twitter.com/MissGolightly22 No Thanks

Oh, I totally get Demi’s point.  She’s saying that even though Carly is mega talented, she needs to grow into her voice.  Her voice isn’t meant for teen tripe.  It’s meant for rich, deep, mature music.  And at 13, that’s gonna be a tough sale out in the real world.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/XDQP2Y46M5B3OHOKALDDGDHQCM Leandro

Actually, 1432 is interesting. They have on e of the most viewed videos on YT and were instantly catapulted to frontrunners with their performance of Impossible. Suddendly, with a stupid name, terrible song choice and weak performance they went back to the fodder status. i think they’ll remain over Sister C. Unless Simon needs more cannon fodder, so he’ll keep sister C, because he knows they will be kicked out in the first live show with votes.

  • wkstrack

Who I THINK will go home.

Teens: Diamond White. What a waste though. I thought she had one of the better voices from the teens category. Better than Beatrice IMO but that performance last night kinda felt like a joke.

Young Adults: Paige. And Cece will join her in the bottom 2 for the final sing off.

Groups: Sister C? I can’t see Simon sending Lyric 145 home yet since they bring the entertainment factor even though they were not good last night IMO.

Overs: Tate. He’s a threat to Simon’ TCO groups but maybe not since it seems he doesn’t really have a big following or anything.

  • Tera2

I watch Idol and X-FactorUSA to see them actually discover stars, and for this show to look legitimate they need to create stars who can actually be on radio, and I can see Arin Ray doing that cause he’s like a combination of Usher and Chris Brown, and they are superstars.  Britney would be stupid to send him home and keep a bunch of kids. Arin was the best performer in the teen category last night.  I think she should send Beatrice home or it may be Diamond.  Carly has a good voice but she’s more for Braodway to me and her performance last night was off and shows she can’t be a pop star.

Arin Ray has the recoding voice that can be on radio, and Paige has a voice similar to Rihanna and she has potential to be a recording artist too.  I can see them making star of those 2 and maybe Emblem 3.  I think Demi will keep Paige.  CeCe had the weakest vocals in her group and doesnt have a recording voice, but she has the drive.  I think Willie will go, cause Demi prefer the others over him.   LA Reid will eliminate Jason Brock.  Vino wasn’t good yesterday cause of bad song choice, but Jason deserves to go.  Simon’s group all performed average except for Emblem 3 who he gave a good song.  I think he will eliminate Sister C or Lyric 145.  I blame the him and judges for a lot bad song choices that made a lot of the contestants not come off as well as they should.

  • genius13

I get what you’re saying..but when Demi said that this wasn’t her time..to somehow suggest that she wasn’t ready or good enough compared the other contestants didn’t Make any sense to me..vocally she was the best last night…and regardless of anything else, this is a singing contest

  • kcostell

The twist I’m really hoping to see: In a surprise announcement on the results show, Simon and LA decide to switch mentoring assignments.

Last night made it painfully clear that Simon has no idea what to do with Lyric 145, and LA has no idea what to do with most of his crop of singers.

  • Xentusk

When I posted my review of the show, I used the term ‘old soul’ to describe the vibe I got from Beatrice.  After a couple hours , I came back and reread that I used that term for her.  It didn’t make any sense, especially because she’s only 13, and has the emotions and personality of a bright young girl.

On second thought, it was weird to me I would use that term to describe her, because, when she is not performing, she is everybit her age in energy and attitude.  Like a switch, she turns on this maturity as a performer.  I guess you could say the same thing about Carly, though, but to me, it’s different with her.  Her ‘old soul’ is waiting for the rest of her to catch up.  In Beatrice, it’s just there, there’s a comfort or familiarity with it.

I was surprised, after reading more posts, that I was not the only one to use ‘old soul’ to describe what I have a hard time pin pointing about Beatrice that incites that description.

I hope she makes it through and let her be and sing what she is most comfortable with.  She’s definitely my darkhorse

  • Listening

Okay I just gotta say this b/c I notice it everytime I see them. Ally from 1432 looks out of place w/ that group she’s the real short girl. She just looks tiny like a little doll w/ them. Okay that is all had to get that off my chest, carry on.

  • http://twitter.com/desireechick Kesia Monteith

YES! THANK YOU! LA can bring some urban swag to the groups, while Simon can certainly give his intake to the overs. I really wish they switch places.

  • Listening

So how are they going to stretch eliminated 4 acts into 2 hours. I thought the results show was just going to be an hour?

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/TBRH25QFXTK5JOPE4HX7FBI5PE J

Of the kids I feel like Arin is the only one with semi-immediate potential as a pop star because he is older. Carly is too popular and talented to let go. Could be Diamond or Beatrice being cut.
I think they will cut Willie Jones. I see more pop potential and popularity in the girls.
David Correy is the only safe of the overs. I think they will keep Jason for comic relief. Tate would be an easy cut since he doesn’t really fit the show. They could also easily cut Vino.
They wont cut Emblem3. Of the other groups Sister C is probably the least interesting. I think they will be cut.

  • http://twitter.com/MissGolightly22 No Thanks

“but when Demi said that this wasn’t her time..to somehow suggest that
she wasn’t ready or good enough compared the other contestants didn’t
    Make any sense to me”

I didn’t interpret her comment like that.  I interpreted as…man, just wait until you’re old enough to sing the mature music your voice is meant for.

It is not a coincidence you calling her “old soul”. Have you read any articles about her? (Google for example ‘X Factor': Beatrice Miller, from Maplewood to ‘giant mountain’ in Malibu) I am totally blown away by her very creative and passionate heart and mind (+ it does not do her harm, that she has an excellent singing voice also), and I also have a very strong, kind of a strange feeling, that she is at the same time the 13-year-old-kid she actually is and like some 3500 years old divine being (joke, but also the accurate description of my view).
She certainly is a wonder child, and a very sweet one. It is a real bliss for Britney to get to work with her.

  • Xentusk

Nope, I came into this carte blanche..no preconceptions.  I was surprised to find out, just now, that she’s done some TV.

Right away her performances had a ‘real’ quality to them, for me, that was genuine and was moving, I was really surprised to find out her age.

Jenell’s brand of ‘rock’ performance feels affected, I don’t feel the same kind of effortless, genuine quality to her that Beatrice has without appearing to try.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/NWXRUOY5BTHY5F52JP3ZFJTTVI Mikko

And she (and her family) are so real, there are no masks there, what you see is who she is. Hint: If you love her, she has got a very welcoming Facebook page.

  • Xentusk

I’m still unconvinced of XFactor, it’s tendency to go big will likely be a detriment to Beatrice as the show goes on, if she even makes it past tonight, so it’s hard to get too invested
(I’m uninterested in Arin, but I understand that his gender gives him a better chance of surviving the cut, which makes it dangerous for Beatrice).

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/NWXRUOY5BTHY5F52JP3ZFJTTVI Mikko

XF is the mixture of some really great things (like that they have found some beautiful talents) and surrealistic nasty things (like all that glitter and “30 half-naked dancers” etc). I both love and hate it. Yes, it can happen, that Beatrice does not succeed in it, but I am personally not so worried about her in the larger sense, because now that I have kind of get to know her, I can see clearly, that her first thing is that creative and passionate heart and mind. One may be an excellent singer, but I think, that to have a creative mind is more important, and Beatrice has it (and not many others, if any, other contestants have it).
So no matter what comes, her future looks good. She is multi-talented in easy and natural way, and I think she will ne also composing music in the years to come. So if X-factor rejects her now, it is not anymore so big a thing, because she has already gained multitudes of self confidence.
And she will get all kinds of offers, because people can sense, that it is beautiful to work with her.

What comes to possible elimination this evening, I would be surprised, if it would happen (although it can happen). Her Judges House performance was 3rd viewed in YouTube, and Diamond and Arin did not even come near (Bea had at least half as much view as Arin). I think they are aware of Bea’s popularity, and do not easily want to get rid of her. Also, she is somebody to love – and Britney loves her.
If they would think about the popularity, Arin would be off, but they might want to keep Arin and Diamond would go. The teens category is so talented, that it is really unfair that any of them has to go.

By the way, bea has during the show got the least amount of air time, so the thing that she is now among top16 and possibly among top12, really comes not pimping her, but from her personal bravery and passion, which is BEAutiful (like she would wrote the word “beautiful”)

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/NWXRUOY5BTHY5F52JP3ZFJTTVI Mikko

    And she is through!
