Two days after FOX announced the cancellation of X Factor, Colton Pack announces that he’s leaving Restless Road, the country boy band Simon Cowell put together for X Factor season 3.  Despite Simon championing the group throughout the competition, the boys were eliminated in 4th place, missing a chance to compete in the final.

Read Colton’s goodbye note:

The other members are Zach Beeken and Andrew Scholz and plan to carry on without Colton. From the band’s Facebook.

Colton has decided to leave the group. We are going to support his decision. We don’t want you to worry too much. More information to come.

I know you might be confused or worried but Andrew and Zach will have a ustream tonight to answer what questions they can.

The decision was Colton’s. We didn’t have any arguments or a fall out. We still support each other.
Please know Restless Road is NOT over…we are still going to push forward and we have plans. More details in a ustream tonight coming soon. We will post link to our page.

Colton sees the handwriting on the wall. Restless Road aren’t signed, and probably won’t be. In the meantime, how much you want to bet Colton wasn’t that down with losing his status as a solo performer to begin with?  Good luck boys, as your journey to oblivion begins.

I’m waiting for this Ustream to see what they have to see. I know per their twitters they were in Nashville a while back in “meetings”. I wonder if their was more interest in Colton and not the other two. IMO they all needed work but he needed the least and seemed like the one that had the shot.

I enjoyed Restless Road, so this makes me sad. At the same time, I think it’s harder for a group to make it and it seems like a lot of them can’t stick it out together (e.g., Eden’s Edge, Pistol Annies). I think Colton had the best voice, but the other two guys were better looking if that matters. Wish them all well.

  • Amy Beth

    Wow, that didn’t take long.

  • gclay

Simon clearly wanted to mix the fan support of Tate Stevens with the marketability of Emblem 3, but he really failed these guys were lame

  • iluvai

I thought Colton should have been a single artist on the show. He was way better than the other two. He reminds me of a country Adam Levine. I wish him the best.

  • Incipit

Was that the one who could sing? Chances of Cowell manufacturing a good country group was about as believable as him knowing how to market Tate – slim to none.

  • yaddabing

    Good.

He was the one who carried the group.

  • yaddabing

    Indeed he was.

  • Birdiex

A lot of the time it seems like those groups that Simon manufactures never seem to work out. InTENsity, Lakoda Rayne, and now this come to mind.

  • Mason

No wonder he split. They were restless

  • RalphResty

He made the right decision. He was carrying the group anyway so might as well do it on his own.

  • yaddabing

Also, I wonder if after they’re finally free from the Syco contract, do they keep the rights to “Restless Road” or does that stay with Syco?

  • Stooch

The only shocking thing for me is people actually think Colton can sing

  • Damien Roberts

Between the three of them he definitely has the most talent. The group truly has no shot now.

  • RalphResty

He can sing. The others can’t.

  • Bugme Nomor

    They’re made for TV.

  • hayes

Fifth Harmony seem to be doing fine.

That one girl from Lakoda Rayne bolted and ended up having a starring role in The Goldbergs, so maybe this guy has a chance.

  • Karen C

I wonder how long the Syco contract is, if it’s like the Idol one where if they aren’t signed, they could go for another deal after a certain amount of time.

  • Listening

Well one thing I know is that they were all better as soloists. They could not sing as a group. They couldn’t blend and they looked uncomfortable on stage, it was a mess.

And the way the judges would praise them yeah Simon was their champion but I believe near the end the other judges chimed in to with compliments. It was depressing because I liked the idea of a country trio they were just the wrong people to do it.

Oh and Colton being a better singer than the other two doesn’t automatically make him good just the best of the worst. Colton was JUST ok. He didn’t carry the group they were still bad, so even if he was carrying them it wasn’t very far. And when they fell they landed on their heads.

After X-Factor had ended I had completely forgotten about them, this post jogged my memory. APOLOGIZE.
LOL Nah Nah i’m just kidding but seriously…. they were horrible. Ha Ha Ha

OK OK I’m really done joking around, good luck to em all.

  • Landon Cox

    RIP Corbin Fisher trio

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

I didn’t follow XF from the beginning, but by the time I tuned in, I was amazed that Simon Cowell could actually say that Restless Road was good with a straight face. They were consistently awful. They actually looked like an SNL parody of a boy band. I don’t know which guy is which, but if this Colton guy can really sing, he is smart to abandon the sinking ship.

  • b_james

Colton was 100x better than those other two, and they were weighing him down. He should’ve been solo all along. Try out for Idol, Colton!

  • carola99

Not a surprise. Restless Road was really bad. I have no idea how they lasted so long. I guess the tween votes.
Colton might be the better one of the bunch, but still,he is nothing special.
Wish him luck, though. It seems like a wise decision.

  • Kristie Wilson

i wouldn’t be surprised if colton tries out for the voice, but that’s JMO. i do wish andrew & zach all the best as they continue on as restless road.

  • gomer0

Simon will always have one direction.
