Once she grows into her subject matter, I’ll be more interested.  I can’t help but be distracted by the disharmony between what she sings and how she sings.  It makes me smile but I can’t help but hear my grandma sayin ” that girl’s too old for her britches” hahaha

    great voice though

So…she’s starting to do these covers, huh?

This is probably a sign she won’t be signed

  • mtthew

i wasn’t impressed tbh. i liked when she did some of the contemporary songs on the show (the justin beiber one and rolling in the deep) but this didnt work for me.

  • elliegrll

I agree.  Beyond Disney and Nickelodeon there’s not a lot that she can do right now.  It’s not just her age, it’s that when she sings she comes across as a 12 year old, and that is just not something that is going to be marketable at this point.  She’s going to have to wait a few years before a label sees her as a viable commercial artist.

  • breakdown

Yea, I’m kinda surprised that I don’t like this at all. It is definitely a problem going on these shows at too young an age.

her best bet is trying out for american idol once she’s old enough

  • jobeob987

The thing with Carly Rose is that she’s too young and has no life experiences to inject into her performances.  She’s not believable.  I’ve noticed she’ll close her eyes and start to get into her songs then realize she may be making a less-than-pretty face and then she’ll knock it off and smile self consciously at the cameras.  She has a nice voice but almost zero investment into what she’s singing.  She doesn’t move me one way or the other so I’m just not that interested.  Maybe that will change as she matures.

You people are all full of guff.  Shall I start naming the stars that started at her age or younger and just kept on going year after year?  Yes?  No?  The name Michael Jackson ring any bells?  How about Lee Ann Rimes?  She recorded BLUE at the same age Carly is now.  More?  No?  You realize how stupid you’re sounding?

  • elliegrll

I don’t think that Michael Jackson is a good example, since he started his career over 40 years ago.  But, even Leann Rimes has had people, who have had trouble dealing with her age.  There aren’t a lot of 13 year olds who are going to get their music played on mainstream radio.  It’s not just her age, she comes across as someone who is 13, which is a good thing, but it’s not marketable to the current pop audience.  Most people her age would be put into a development program, and the label wouldn’t releases anything from them until they are at least 16.

Even when they were teens, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, and Britney Spears  had trouble getting airplay, and they were all a little older than Carly is when they started out.

Apparently to Simon Cowell she doesn’t seem to be just 13. After she sang in Boot Camp 1 he asked the other judges if she seemed too old for her age if that was possible and LA said she was the best 13 year old he had ever seen. He also said in an interview after the auditions that if they stopped the show right now and voted based on talent alone that he would vote for her and she would win. He also said that anyone can sing but what sets her apart from everyone else is her energy and intensity. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but this is pretty high praise coming from people in the industry whose job it is to know real talent when they see it.

has she even gotten a record deal?  I just think this plus other kids in tears means XF needs to change its rules – 12 – 14 year olds shouldnt be on these shows.  At least make 15 or 16 the starting age…keep the older and groups (although 25 being ‘old’is depressing – and despite their successes, I hate manufactured groups – its not about music but cowell bucks)

I just wanted to say…. Justin Nozuka? I approve in the music taste. I thought it was good. She has a great voice. Nice to see the brother.

With 10 or 20 million fans worldwide waiting to buy her cd at the word go (kinda like a Harry Potter book release at midnight thing) and labels like Capitol, RCA, Def Jam, Columbia, David Foster’s label and many more waiting on her porch to start a bidding war the second Simon passes on her (and I laugh at that prospect), I don’t think she’ll be trying out for Idol next year.  Oh, and with her Broadway and movie connections (she has an agent), she could probably release a quality cd with mass distribution on her on…cut out the middle man!

  • Nigel Rayneau

I’m highly surprised at the doubters.  “Once she grows into the subject matter”, “won’t be signed”, “wasn’t impressed”…. are all comments made by people who will either have to EAT their words or are too pompous to recognize exceptional talent when it hits them in the face!  This girl is young and brash sure, but she’s got the enthusiasm of innocence, and talent to burn. She’s signing to Syco/Epic in an undisclosed but substantial deal, (will be announced very soon).  Go to carlysover30fanclubdotcom and find out what her “astute” fans are saying.

  • Nigel Rayneau

Couldn’t disagree more. Get off you high horse and appreciate real talent… albeit young.

  • Nigel Rayneau

     Eat your words Leandro!

  • Nigel Rayneau

Well all I can say is eat your words! She’s in the process of signing a substantial deal with Syco/Epic.

  • elliegrll

Whether she signs with Syco/Epic or not, that has very little to do with the fact that at 13 it will be hard for her to get her music played on the radio, or get consumers to take her seriously.  At the most she’d get played on the Disney station.
