X Factor Australia Round-up, Reece Mastin, Samantha Jade, Dami Im

Today, Season 3 Winner, Reece Mastin did an interview on The Morning Show discussing in brief his upcoming album, tour and relationship.

Here is, Season 4 Winner, Samantha Jade‘s video for her new single for “Up!” It is a fun dance track that Samantha in the vein of her previous singles “What You’ve Done to Me” and “Firestarter.”

This is, Season 5 Winner, Dami Im with her first single “Super Love” from her upcoming studio album. Dami likes her quirky outfits and this song is honestly better than I expected from her, surprisingly catchy.

Let me know your thoughts about both of these girls new videos and is a woman destined to win X Factor Australia for the third year in a row?  In other news all the judges will be back and so will our epic host Luke. I could’ve used a shake up after Redfoo’s consistent mistakes last season, but here we go! Maybe he learned a thing or two. Literally two things.

And as always I will be here to cover the upcoming season of XFAU!

Thanks for reading,

LOVE Samantha and Dami! Australia got it right two seasons in a row IMO. I have never seen Reece, but for me he is just okay. Looking forward to the new season but I agree about Refoo, thought he was terrible last year…oh well! I like the other three so I’m excited.

Redfoo is beyond terrible. Ignorant, unfunny, zero musical knowledge…you name it. He single-handedly ruined last season IMO.

Dami surprised me with this song too, it was current and catchy. I always thought Dami had a good voice on X-Factor the problem I had with her was her style felt dated and too grandiose. It’s just a bad combo and hard to get over but in the later episodes she freshened it up and I started to like her performances. I thought for her album she’d slip back into her old ways but after seeing how pop and current this song is maybe Dami was just playing the game. It’s possible she and Danni Minogue, her mentor, were just doing what she knew the X Factor audience liked.

Anywho, I hope the rest of her album is more in this vein because I really like it. Oh and the video was good too if predictable but still one of the better first video efforts from singing competition shows. It felt fleshed out and done in way it didn’t feel cheap.

I hope the song and her album does well.

I always find it interesting how different people perceive these things…
Out of the 3 of them I think Reece has more of the ‘X factor’… and with the right material and management I thought he had a shot to be successful outside of Australia (I’m in the UK but from NZ originally)…
the 2 women are great vocalists… however IMO, they don’t have any real star quality…
there is nothing distinct about Samantha, her voice is relatively generic, so she comes across as a watered down version of Kylie (songs they give her don’t help in that respect)…
& Dami is similarly generic sounding (again material probably doesn’t help make her more distinctive) but at least she has a more unique look than Samantha…
    Wish them well though :)

    I expected something dated too..
It’s funny, she’s singing pop music but there’s something incredibly refreshing about her music. I like it, hope she gets even bigger.

I prefer someone from the Girls’ category to win this year. So far each category has already had a winner; Boys(Season 3), Overs(Season 2, 4, 5) and Groups (Season 1). I have this feeling that Australian public have trouble connecting with younger female contestants that’s why the last two female winners of the show are from the Overs category.

i dunno I kinda love that in Australia the “overs” are taken seriously as opposed to how they are treated in other countries.
