Join me here tonight for the X-Factor blog. Rumor has it… we might be getting a wild card.

We get an opening group number. It’s a medley of several big Motown hits. Sweet Suspense has Restless Road’s numbers on the screen while they sing.

I’m hoping Simon decided James Kenney deserved to stay.

JOSH LEVI IS BACK.
Everyone is keeping the SAME VOTING NUMBERS FOR THE WHOLE SEASON

He’s opening the show.

1) Josh Levi- Who’s Loving You
Mario has a little bit where he surprises Josh in a diner and tells him he’s back in the competition. He starts off a little pitchy, but he works into it when he finds the correct key. Once he’s in it, it’s a good vocal. All of the songs tonight will sound old fashioned, so I can’t really give him marks for that. Kelly says he comes to life on stage. Simon says he went from zero to hero. Paulina says he’s the youngest in the competition.

My Grade: B+ (it took him a few seconds to get in key at the beginning)

To vote for Josh:
You can vote online at THEXFACTORUSA.COM until 10AM PT THURSDAY, and you can vote up to 50 TIMES.
You can also use the X-Factor USA app (voting is counted alongside the online voting)
You can text 6 to 21523
You can call 1-855-THE XF 06 (lines open only for two hours)
You can also apparently vote using Shazam.

2) Rachel Potter- This Old Heart Of Mine
Kelly says Rachel puts a lot of pressure on herself. She actually did a little bit with the song. They made it sound country. She’s a really good performer, and the vocal is pretty good. Rachel has definitely been rebounding coming out of the 4 chair challenge. I think the arrangement was maybe a little silly, but Rachel did the best she could with it. Demi is worried about her, because she thinks Rachel could threaten her people. Simon didn’t like the track. Kelly says Simon is just shaking in his boots. Paulina loved it.

My Grade: B (she did the best she could with that arrangement)

To vote for Rachel:
You can vote online at THEXFACTORUSA.COM until 10AM PT THURSDAY, and you can vote up to 50 TIMES.
You can also use the X-Factor USA app (voting is counted alongside the online voting)
You can text 9 to 21523
You can call 1-855-THE XF 09 (lines open only for two hours)
You can also apparently vote using Shazam.

3) Carlos Guevera- What’s Going On
Weak vocals in the beginning. I think America is about to see that Carlos is not a viable pop star. His mic is too low, and the overproduced track is drowning him out. He looks kinda ridiculous in that jacket too. I thought that was pretty terrible. His mom doesn’t even look happy. Kelly thinks he could have done better, maybe a different song. Simon says he lurks around on the stage and looks at the floor. That basically sums it up. Simon thought the arrangement was lazy, I agree. No one really boos Simon. They agree that Carlos wasn’t great. Paulina thinks he did great (or at least the guy who wrote her cue card believes so).

My Grade: C- (wrong song, no stage presence)

To vote for Carlos:
You can vote online at THEXFACTORUSA.COM until 10AM PT THURSDAY, and you can vote up to 50 TIMES.
You can also use the X-Factor USA app (voting is counted alongside the online voting)
You can text 3 to 21523
You can call 1-855-THE XF 03 (lines open only for two hours)

4) Restless Road- Easy Like Sunday Morning
Three country boys, trying to figure out how to make motown sound country. They’re worried about being predictable. It sounds a little country, but it really still sounds old fashioned. This was just an awful theme. I don’t think any of these boys are stellar solo singers, and the one with big ears has some pitchy moments during his solo toward the end. The whole thing just didn’t work for me. Demi makes age jokes at Simon, and thought it was a good song choice. Paulina thinks they are special. Paulina calls the lead guy out on his pitch problems. Kelly liked the harmonies this week, and agrees that the lead guy needs to be stronger. Simon thinks they have star power.

My Grade: C+ (it was kind of a safe choice, and the lead singer was a bit of a mess)

To vote for Restless Road:
You can vote online at THEXFACTORUSA.COM until 10AM PT THURSDAY, and you can vote up to 50 TIMES.
You can also use the X-Factor USA app (voting is counted alongside the online voting)
You can text 10 to 21523
You can call 1-855-THE XF 10 (lines open only for two hours)

5) Ellona Santiago- Baby Love
Demi finds Ellona crying, and they have a moment. Ellona attacks this song like a pitbull, but the truth is that this song is a lot more of a quiet sexiness than Ellona is willing to give. Putting her in a cheerleader outfit makes her more aggressive than she needs to be. I get that she wants to win, but she has to be able to interpret the song. She is definitely one of the strongest singers in the competition, but that wasn’t the right song. Simon thinks she nailed it. Demi thinks she turned it out.

My Grade: B- (good vocal, wrong song, poor interpretation)

To vote for Ellona Santiago:
You can vote online at THEXFACTORUSA.COM until 10AM PT THURSDAY, and you can vote up to 50 TIMES.
You can also use the X-Factor USA app (voting is counted alongside the online voting)
You can text 4 to 21523
You can call 1-855-THE XF 04 (lines open only for two hours)

6) Jeff Gutt- Say You Say Me
Jeff is from Detroit, so he feels extra pressure. He’s also intimidated because he’s a rock guy. I think this performance can best be summed up as “if you like Jeff Gutt, you’ll like this.” I have a recurring problem with Jeff, because he’s not really current. This song sounds like an 80′s power ballad when he covers it. His vocals are definitely on par, and he gets points for not being terribly boring doing it either. Paulina thinks it was unpredictable. Simon thought it was outstanding, and the best vocal of the night. Kelly says he gave it his all.

My Grade: B+ (Good vocal, maybe a little dated still)

To vote for Jeff Gutt:
You can vote online at THEXFACTORUSA.COM until 10AM PT THURSDAY, and you can vote up to 50 TIMES.
You can also use the X-Factor USA app (voting is counted alongside the online voting)
You can text 5 to 21523
You can call 1-855-THE XF 05 (lines open only for two hours)

7) Alex and Sierra- Heard It Through The Grapevine
They’re changing up the song. They’re worried that people will hate their arrangement. I don’t think this song is that radically different. They shouldn’t be worried. It just sounds like a cool cover of the song. I like that these two seem to be able to make any song fit into their style as an artist. They force the song to adapt to them, rather than feeling forced to adapt to the song. The audience loved it, and Demi has a hard time talking. Paulina says it felt organic. She wanted them to kiss at the end. Demi thinks it was sexy and hot. Simon is really proud.

My Grade: A- (sounded good, and made the song work for them)

To vote for Alex and Sierra:
You can vote online at THEXFACTORUSA.COM until 10AM PT THURSDAY, and you can vote up to 50 TIMES.
You can also use the X-Factor USA app (voting is counted alongside the online voting)
You can text 1 to 21523
You can call 1-855-THE XF 01 (lines open only for two hours)

8) Khaya Cohen- My Girl
Khaya has to keep up with school while doing the show. What a bizarre song choice. She’s not changing the lyric either. I swear they actually slowed this song down too. Some dude tries to breakdance in the song to make it interesting. Her vocals were good, if not over affected. Kelly thinks there was sass. Simon says she sounds like Amy Winehouse. He thought her vocals were fantastic. Demi thinks she’s got the best vocals in the competition.

My Grade: B (wrong song, but sung well)

To vote for Khaya:
You can vote online at THEXFACTORUSA.COM until 10AM PT THURSDAY, and you can vote up to 50 TIMES.
You can also use the X-Factor USA app (voting is counted alongside the online voting)
You can text 7 to 21523
You can call 1-855-THE XF 07 (lines open only for two hours)

9) Carlito Olivero- Stop In The Name Of Love
Carlito is worried about losing fans because he’s doing a ballad and not an uptempo. This song got a complete reworking. It actually really works as a ballad. I like it. The Spanish guitar in the background is really cool. Carlito’s vocals are also on par this week. Kelly loves that he pours himself into the song. Kelly thinks he was a little pitchy. Simon says it reminded him of a dream, and didn’t like it as good as last week. He thought it was girly and overtheatrical. Simon thinks he was better than that. Paulina agrees with Simon? WTF? I must be crazy, because I didn’t hate that.

My Grade: B+ (good vocal, neat arrangement)

To vote for Carlito:
You can vote online at THEXFACTORUSA.COM until 10AM PT THURSDAY, and you can vote up to 50 TIMES.
You can also use the X-Factor USA app (voting is counted alongside the online voting)
You can text 2 to 21523
You can call 1-855-THE XF 02 (lines open only for two hours)

10) Lillie McCloud- All’s Fair In Love And War
Lillie realizes it’s hard to not sound dated while doing Motown. I’m expecting this go be good. OK. Well, as expected, Lillie is slaying the vocal. We’ll get to see Lillie struggle with being current in later weeks, but for right now, she’s reminding us that she is actually the best vocalist in the competition. Not “one of the best”, or “maybe the best”, but actually “the best”. Even if you think she’s a little boring, and that the song was slow, she SANG it. Demi says her voice is incredible. Demi thinks it was outdated (well, duh). Kelly literally stands up like she’s going to rip out Simon’s weave. Simon says it was fantastic (I think he’s scared of Kelly). Simon says they’re lucky to have her on the show. Paulina calls her a goddess.

My Grade: A- (great vocal, maybe a little dated… but it is Motown week)

To vote for Lillie:
You can vote online at THEXFACTORUSA.COM until 10AM PT THURSDAY, and you can vote up to 50 TIMES.
You can also use the X-Factor USA app (voting is counted alongside the online voting)
You can text 8 to 21523
You can call 1-855-THE XF 08 (lines open only for two hours)

11) Sweet Suspense-You Just Keep Me Hanging On
Simon says Summer is holding the group together, and is the most experienced. They sing a lot in unison, and it bothers me. I remember when Fifth Harmony did that, and it was a problem. There’s more harmony thrown in this week than last week. Compared to last week, also, this is a much better performance. The track is super loud and overproduced, so it drowns out any vocal issues they might be having. Paulina loves them. Demi thinks they’re stars. Kelly doesn’t think there has been a girl group in the marketplace in a while. She thinks they are sensational. Simon says Fifth Harmony is top 10 in 20 countries, and they are opening for Demi on her tour.

My Grade: B (lot better than last week, but I still need less unison singing)

To vote for Sweet Suspense:
You can vote online at THEXFACTORUSA.COM until 10AM PT THURSDAY, and you can vote up to 50 TIMES.
You can also use the X-Factor USA app (voting is counted alongside the online voting)
You can text 12 to 21523
You can call 1-855-THE XF 12 (lines open only for two hours)

12) Rion Paige- Ain’t No Mountain
She’s in the 8th grade. Demi says you don’t have to be superwoman 24/7. Demi wants us to see the real Rion. Unlike Carlito’s slowed down version, I’m not digging this version that is slowed down for Rion. As the song progresses, Rion sounds more vocally tired. Kelly says she looks radiant. Kelly didn’t like the rendition. Simon thought it was a beautiful version, and thinks she was better this week than last week. Demi says they struggled to bring the wall down, and she thinks Rion brought the wall down.

My Grade: C+ (she sounded tired, and the version didn’t do her any favors)

To vote for Rion Paige:
You can vote online at THEXFACTORUSA.COM until 10AM PT THURSDAY, and you can vote up to 50 TIMES.
You can also use the X-Factor USA app (voting is counted alongside the online voting)
You can text 11 to 21523
You can call 1-855-THE XF 11 (lines open only for two hours)

13) Tim Olstad- I’ll Be There
Tim wants to show that he’s not a funeral director this week. I bet he’s still doing a ballad this week. Yup. A Ballad. So much for fun Tim. On the flip side, this is a good vocal. So there’s something. They didn’t rework the song, so I can’t really be mad at the arrangement. This is just a good singer, singing the song the way it was written. He’s still kinda boring, if I’m being honest. Demi says it was incredible karaoke. Demi thinks he can do AC radio, but not Top 40. Kelly says he’s an incredible singer, but expects more from him. Simon really liked it, and calls Tim Olstad the next Donnie Osmond. LOL. Simon says that Tim should go the Josh Groban week, and respects him for taking criticism like a man.

My Grade: B- (boring, a little karaoke, but good vocal)

To vote for Tim Olstad:
You can vote online at THEXFACTORUSA.COM until 10AM PT THURSDAY, and you can vote up to 50 TIMES.
You can also use the X-Factor USA app (voting is counted alongside the online voting)
You can text 13 to 21523
You can call 1-855-THE XF 13 (lines open only for two hours)

My Grade Totals (I’ve tried to not punish the acts for the horrific theme, so they’re all kinda graded on a curve):
Alex and Sierra: A-
Lillie McCloud: A-
Josh Levi: B+
Jeff Gutt: B+
Carlito Olivero: B+
Rachel Potter: B
Khaya Cohen: B
Sweet Suspense: B
Tim Olstad: B-
Ellona Santiago: B-
Restless Road: C+
Rion Paige: C+
Carlos Guevera: C-

I think Carlos has to be going home tomorrow. He was by far the worst of the night, and he’s not really right for this competition. I don’t think he’s a pop star. I think Restless Road will survive their boring song choice. I’m a little worried for Ellona, who might appear in the bottom. I think Rion and Tim could be in danger of being in the bottom. But, I think Carlos is the most at risk.

I will add, I don’t think there is a frontrunner right now. I think Rachel Potter has a decent fanbase online, and enough performing experience to last at least until the Top 5. I think it will take a while before one of the groups goes home. I think the boys are the weakest category this year, and their mentor isn’t helping their cause. Carlito and Josh will both put up a good fight, but I don’t think any of the boys will make the final three. The leaderboards tomorrow should be interesting.

Who is going home tomorrow? Who are you voting for? Sound off in the comments! Join me here tomorrow night for the results!

  • Kathleen Moore

The contestants sang a Motown medley starting off the show. And they showed each contestant’s phone numbers. And one of the boys’s number ended in 13. Meaning, we have a wild card. And Simon just confirmed….Josh Levi is wild carded.

  • Derrick Johnson

really josh levi i was expecting james kenney

  • steve2013

wth really josh levi as wild card how about james kenny

  • Nedsdag

I believe I read somewhere that XFUS is among the Top Ten shows in African American households. This was probably the reason Josh was brought back instead of James.

  • Guest

josh levi will not win. what a waste of a wildcard.

  • POV121

So here we go again.. Another Motown week. Another Simon changing the rules when he doesn’t like the results. (don’t remember the name but there was the 1 guy who had the zero star quality & charisma that Paulina put thru despite Simons orders) ; let’s not forget the wild card adds a black singer where there was only 1 other black solo artist; we didn’t have to wait till Thursday for cheesy poorly sung group number. Oh and let’s give them the same phone number so no one has to watch or judge by their actual singing. Let the tweets just vote in massive campaigns for Simons boy group. And is there reason Marios lips didn’t match his words in the opening? And of course, the little boy sings 1 song & 2 judges already have told him he’s a stat/has a bright future etc.. Oh such uniqueness Simon.

  • Nedsdag

    Lexington, South California? OUCH!

  • POV121

If you’re gonna have a wild card, let the viewers vote. Now for second time, King Simon decides…

  • Karen C

Rachel’s song reminded me of Kristy Lee Cook with 8 Days a Week. Simon hated that too.

Josh Levi- I actually thought he was one of the most marketable boys last week, but I didn’t think he was good this week.

  • Nedsdag

I guess Carlos is going to scat his way through the competition. Does he know how to hit the high notes?

  • Kathleen Moore

What’s Going On…actually a good song choice for Carlos. On paper. Unfortunately, he’s sucking the life out of the song.

  • POV121

That’s who I assumed they were talking about. Rubio is awful & Ido n’t think she’s got huge knowledge if American music

  • Karen C

    Carlos was terrible.

  • http://talkinaboutmovies.blogspot.com Brenoga

rachel’s song just gave me a terrible flashback of kristy lee cook’s eight days a week.

  • http://www.mjsbigblog.com/ mjsbigblog

    Reminder:

Let’s keep the conversation focused on X Factor. Thanks!

  • yaddabing

I briefly tuned in….they lost Verizon as a sponsor too? So all sponsors from season one has left them.

    Welp.

  • POV121

    Theytook some viewers with them

  • teekee

Don’t think he understood the song.

  • POV121

Only 1st of many error well see, especially from her. Someone didn’t rehearse… She’s totally out of her League on this show. Still scratching my head over that hire

  • yaddabing

    oh my god.

    Amazing.

  • POV121

They only had 1 other black solo act.. Just makeu think

  • Nedsdag

RR should’ve sang a Temptation song to take advantage of the kid’s bass voice.

  • POV121

Has Simon already signed Reckless Road? Bet peopleare wri ting already. He’s given them a logo.. And he’s right, there’s no country boy band… Three good looking young guys… Why nit

  • carla

They don’t have amazing voices but this worked very well.

  • elliegrll

I have a hard time believing that the producers are not editing in fake crowd noise during Restless Road’s performances.

  • yaddabing

Idk if Nashville would accept a manufactured boy band.

  • Karen C

LOL, did Simon see Lionel Ritchie at Whole Foods again.

  • http://talkinaboutmovies.blogspot.com Brenoga

Oh god, Paulina does not make any sense LOL But I have to admit that i love her YOU WERE PEACHY. And yes, that guy from RR was really peachy.

  • Franky

    Restless Road is really horrid.
Simon is never going to understand that he can’t redo One Direction regardless of their genre.

Don’t be shocked if Restless Road is near the bottom of the board tomorrow (if they reveal it). If not, don’t even be surprised if they are in trouble tomorrow night.

  • Nedsdag

Ellona should’ve sang “My Guy.” “Baby Love” is a group song.

  • Karen C

Ellona didn’t sound good and her dancing was kind of weird.

  • elliegrll

Ellona wasn’t perfect, but she can actually sing, which is not a label that I would put on too many X Factor contestants.

  • Franky

Simon’s -___- face tomorrow night when he has to realize that the votes are not coming in like mad for Restless Road is going to be so LOL worthy. I hope someone GIFs it.

  • Derrick Johnson

Why did she give Ellona that song

  • dawnage01

I really enjoyed Ellona’s performance. She has a lot of stage presence & soul. :) Hashtag commercial!

  • yaddabing

    Jeff embarrasses me.

IDK, he just comes off as cheesy to me.

  • Nedsdag

Jeff was not bad. I think he’ll be back next week.

  • dawnage01

Hmm…technically, Jeff is a really good singer. This is actually the first time that I’ve heard him (I’m late, hehe), and he has great precision with his tone & vibrato. He reminds me of an 80′s glam rocker..don’t think that Simon will want him to win. But, he intrigues me for some reason.

  • Derrick Johnson

It was understated and motown and Jeff and i enjoyed it.

  • yaddabing

    Oh my. Mario. So cheesy.

  • Karen C

I liked Jeff, I think they could have made the arrangement a little less cheesy in the beginning, liked it better at the end.

  • Franky

ONLY 1 person leaving manana? Wow, I thought for sure it would be a double elimination. Interesting.

  • Amy Beth

His entire package was about being from Detroit and how that put extra pressure on him. So Mario asks him what?

  • Karen C

I think it was the arrangement that was very 80s, it reminded me of Bon Jovi. I’ve seen him do alternative rock and I liked it better.

  • Leo Incredible

This show is my favorite of the singing competitions and ive defended it many a times, but its like they arent even trying anymore. Your show’s ratings are awful and most people think of the x-factor as a joke, and you choose motown as the theme? Jeez.

  • scoobynacks

“I don’t think we’re supposed to be in here…with all these cameras already in place to capture our letting loose moment.” C’mon Simon, we know how this works.

  • Franky

    Sierra is VERY annoying.
She’s like an extremely needy girlfriend.

  • Jon Glass

I agree. I don’t get it. And they sent some of the best talent home. It was a huge mistake not doing bootcamp.

  • Nedsdag

Every time I see Alex & Sierra, I want to give them my credit card so they can get a room at a Motel 6 to get it on.

  • dawnage01

Umm….I thought that version of “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” wasn’t good. Simon should’ve given A & S a different song. :/

  • nycguy

Weak first few. But the performances are starting to pick up now. Why are the songs so short! I don’t even think they’re a full minute and a half.

  • Jon Glass

I am a HUGE fan of this show and I want the ratings to get better, but I am recording X Factor and watching the CMA awards live. That’s what the producers get for choosing Motown week. Stupid move FOX.

  • Franky

Well, one hour in… unless sympathy plays a major role, I think Carlos would be the one sent packing. Or Restless Road.

6 more performances to go though but of course, those going in the first hour are at a bigger disadvantage.

    What do you guys think?

  • sjames08

Alex has a ton more sex appeal than all the Restless Road boys.

  • dawnage01

PERFECT song choice for Khaya. She has so much character & smoky soul flavor in her voice…rich, wide vibrato. Yes, Lawd! She just needs to make sure that sure that her diction is spot on & that she doesn’t screech at the end of her phrases w/ her upper register. Awesome R&B chops!

  • lola

Although I don’t like this girl and she is very smug, she does have a decent voice.

lol Mario just said “no one will be back next week unless you vote”. Strikes me as funny.

  • Dexter

Ya, this theme setup is getting old. A lot of themes are boring and are a way to screw contestants into picking shitty songs.

  • http://talkinaboutmovies.blogspot.com Brenoga

Wait, Mario. NO ONE will come back if people don’t vote? So if we choose not to vote at all everybody is eliminated? Can we start the whole season over if that happens? THERE’S HOPE AFTER ALL. LOL

  • Franky

Imagine if the show had such few viewers this week that no one actually decided to vote and everyone was indeed either sent home or stayed because the vote total was 0? LOLZ.

I know, impossible but it is hysterical to think of.

  • istersay

    I just bought Jeff’s song on itunes, it’s 1:49

  • yaddabing

    oh my god.

Paulina, can you not remember that one line?? You have to read it off the card?

  • Nedsdag

Simon is so right in regards to Carlito.

  • Jon Glass

I’m sick of it. They want a star, they should want everyone to be the best they can be.

  • Derrick Johnson

It wasn’t bad but i felt like he was really in his head thinking and got a little caught in his emotion and i believe he can do so much better

  • Franky

Ugh, I can’t with this grandmother. Yes, she can sing (or sang) but the way she sings is so affected for me. It is definitely Broadway, so over accentuated, so thinking about how her mouth is going to say the words.

    I cannot. I just can’t.

  • http://talkinaboutmovies.blogspot.com Brenoga

LOVED Lillie’s outrage about this week’s theme. thank you m’am.

  • carola99

    Me too.

  • http://talkinaboutmovies.blogspot.com Brenoga

C’mon Paulina, repeat after me: GODDESS. GODDESS. There’s not a T after the SSs, woman! I’m Brazilian and I can do it, I have faith you can too, girl!

  • Sephian
  • Franky

Haha. That’s still not enough to garner them votes. The demo for this show is no longer tweens. We are talking an older demo and I can see the overs doing well.

  • Leo Incredible

They need to stop with the genre themes. There are way more creative ways to have a theme without being stuck in one genre or specific time period.

  • carla

    These girls are very peachy.

  • Dexter

What X Factor should do is eliminate this filler crap and make the songs longer…

  • yaddabing

Where is Simon getting these facts.

  • Igor F

The X factor judges would have eaten some of the the Voice contestants this week alive

  • mcwwin85

WOW so Tim gets the pimp spot!

  • http://www.macthemovieguy.com SirMac

Why is the bottom boy holding onto the ass of the boy above him? Ummm…

  • Nedsdag

Just as Kelly was about to sh*t all over Fifth Harmony, Simon stepped in with the Charmin.

  • http://www.mjsbigblog.com/ mjsbigblog

    That’s a manip, right? lol

  • sjames08

About Fifth Harmony? They actually peaked at #2 on iTunes with their EP.

  • carla

I would say yes to Fifth Harmony with Demi.

  • Kathleen Moore

Hmm. I’m Lillie’s age, and I consider myself to be a Roadie (the name given to Restless Road fans). I think Restless Road will do well with us grannies.

  • Jon Glass

Fifth Harmony >>> Sweet Unison ;)

  • carla

yeah. Singing with a bactrack and off vocals? just a no.

  • Montavilla

Paulina says it felt organic. She wanted them to kiss at the end.

I am so hoping they have a movie night, and Alex and Sierra do “A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow.”

  • dawnage01

Sweet Suspense = Chihuahuas that want to become tigresses

  • Nedsdag

Alex and Sierra MUST sing “Falling Slowly” for movie night.

  • rubbish

I’ve just realised how much I don’t care for this year’s X factor, I’ve tried to like some people but I just cant…Hell, I’m having trouble finding someone to hate.

  • Franky

Yeah? Well, color me surprised. More power to ya. I have respect for everyone’s differing opinions on here. If they are your thing and you will vote for them, awesome. :)

  • elliegrll

It’s not just tweens who would appreciate that picture. Bromances are popular with women of all ages.

  • Jake W.

I’m close to abandoning this show. These crop of contestants are sucking, and I see no star potential.

  • rubbish

X factor should just recruit more from working artists like ”the voice” does because this is not pleasant at all.

  • elliegrll

Most of the people on the XF are very high school musical. They aren’t good enough to be labeled Broadway.

  • garlandk77

And why is the top boy holding the middle boy’s head in his hand?

  • genius13

Yea me too…I used to prefer xfactor to the voice but the the voice has passed xfactor in terms or talent and possible success after the show

  • rubbish

Me too, I think I won’t watch again until the final. This is just bad.

  • Kathleen Moore

Poor Rion. Her nerves were showing. Affected her vocals considerably.

  • Jake W.

I loved the first two seasons of the x factor, but damn do these contestants suck this year.

  • yaddabing

Gah. Rion shouldn’t have made it this far, but I can’t help but find her adorable.

  • Jon Glass

Sooo are they going to show the leaderboard every week this year? lol

  • Sephian

I don’t know just found it because Micheal Slezak retweeted it.

  • dawnage01

Rion actually started off pretty good. You could tell that she sang delicately & took her time with the song. HOWEVER…I thought the arrangement of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” was terrible. It really dragged the energy & the emotion out of the song. A shame..

  • Jake W.

I’d love to see the vote totals. That would be embarrassing.

  • Dexter

All of you just jump on the Alex and Sierra bandwagon. DO IT!

  • Franky

The leaderboard is BACK tomorrow. Here we go… so dumb.

  • yaddabing

Oh I know…but idk. It’s not even holding up well, but go ahead Simon.

  • Jake W.

lol, never. They annoy the crap out of me.

  • http://www.mjsbigblog.com/ mjsbigblog

It has to be. Posing with heads in each other’s crotches and grabbing asses? That’s a little blatant to be true

Somebody probably found it on tumblr

  • lola

Well, will someone here please vote? (not me lol). I want to keep watching this train wreck. I am really curious who will win with the paltry votes.

  • Nedsdag

I’m shocked, shocked that Tim is singing “I’ll Be There.”

  • Franky

The only fun thing about the rankings being shown tomorrow night will be Simon’s look of shock, dismay, and annoyance when Restless Road is like between 7-13th. LOL.

  • Franky

Tim: “I’m not a funeral director”
…. here comes a slowed down version with a chorus behind him. LMAO

  • lola

Am only watching to see the Glee commercials. :-)
Oh dear, Tim. I have no words.

  • Dexter

Well, Alex and Sierra hopefully will be #1 :)

  • Whatiswrongwithus

I seriously was a fan of X factor from long time ago and even in the first season but from last season and now, it’s just all going downhill… And I’ve never been one to enjoy the Voice but this season I’m hooked! And if Simon needs advise as why people are shifting, it’s because of just basic, pure talent and song choice damnit!!! I don’t even bother commenting anymore when X factor is live blogged here…sigh wrap it up.

  • Nedsdag

I’ll tape the results show because I’ll be watching The Voice’s results show instead.

  • lola

For some weird reason I can remember the names of the contestants on this show.

  • Dexter

It’s the stupid theme weeks with this show. Get rid of it. It forces contestants into shit they probably don’t wanna sing.

  • carla

He’s one of the most boring contestants I’ve seen on TV. He should never been there.

  • Jake W.

I’ve seen objects with more personality than Tim.

  • Nedsdag

Boy, is Tim going to get sympathy votes or what?

  • dawnage01

There was a really tasty seafood restaurant that I used to go to in Florida. People used to go there for karaoke night. Some were good singers, most were terrible. Tim was like one of the good singers on karaoke night who sang a dumbed down version of an incredible song (ala “Ill Be There.” Never, ever-ever. -_____-

  • Franky

    Hell yes.

  • Whatiswrongwithus

But I remember them having more current songs in past 2 seasons??? And not themes??? Or was I dreaming? Lol, whatever it is, this season I can’t find someone I really HAVE to vote for at all…

  • carola99

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.
I just don´t see any star quality whatsoever here. Maybe Lille but she is way past her expiration date sadly.

  • carla

Josh, Carlos, Tim and Sweet Suspense were the weakest. Any of those could go.

  • carola99

Can someone pls explain to me why did they give Tim the pimp spot?
PLS…. Talk about boring and he is definitely not marketable.

  • Whatiswrongwithus

I really don’t mean to be mean or rude,…..but I get quite uncomfortable watching Rion when she performs. It’s like that poor girl is a subject on display and to be honest, her talent isn’t that great! She should be on Americas got talent instead cos I realllly reallllllly don’t think she would be marketed as a pop star, I’m sorry but I know I’ll get people who disagree.

  • lola

    I agree

  • lola

    A tree trunk?

  • Nedsdag

I think both Rion and Carlos really shouldn’t be in this competition.

  • scoobynacks

Their first single reentered the top 100 on Billboard and moved up from last week. They’re hardly done. It’s a catchy song that deserves radio support. That’s the key to them making it. It needs to be hammered. Didn’t “We Are Young” linger lower on the charts til Glee covered it and then it was in a national ad? It soared with the exposure. Phillip wouldn’t have had a great go of it without “Home” being used for the Olympic Women’s Gymnastics theme. Get the song in front of people in the right moment and it makes all the difference. Isn’t 5H’s EP 6 songs or something? It feels like barely an album. I guess they wanted to not invest too much if it didn’t work out, but their cover of “Mirrors” with Boyce Avenue on Youtube has something like 28 million hits.

  • dawnage01

Bwahahaa! Oh, goodness. He makes me want to audition for the X Factor! :P

  • Derrick Johnson

If i have to pick a top 2 i would pick Jeff Gutt and Restless Road

  • Nedsdag

I think the top three will be Jeff, Alex & Sierra, and Restless Road.

  • rubbish

I tend to do that as well. I never remember those from The Voice though and I don’t think we’re alone as well. The X factor contestants are head and shoulders above other shows’ contestants in terms of twitter followers and facebook likes. The very talented Danielle bradberry is way behind emblem 3, fifth harmony, Carly Rose on twitter and facebook.

  • carola99

Restless Road was terrible. Seriously every week they get worse.
A manufactured group , only that this time is not working, Simon.
They are mediocre vocalists at best.

  • lola

    Go for it!

  • carola99

I love Carlos personality and I admire his fighting attitude. He has some talent, but I think it was cruel to put him through. He is not ready. They are patronizing him.

  • sjames08

I do like the contestants. They were interesting enough, but this THEME. MAAAN. Lilly voiced it out. LET IT GO WITH THE FRICKIN’ THEMEEEE.

  • Erlie

Restless Road has lots of die hard followers online so I won’t underestimate of what they can do to make sure Restless Road stay on next week.

  • Leo Incredible

Yeah, I’m having a hard time getting invested in any of these contestants. I’m not sure why they even have filler contestants, which so many of them this year seem to be. It would be in the best interest for ALL those judges to try to find a legitimate act that could actually become something, because this show is kind of a sinking ship right now.

  • Blackbeat

I don’t even get why the producers/Paulina struggled to save Tim during Four Chair Challenge. He’s boring, no offense. I agree with your review. Him & Carlos stick out like a sore thumb. They wouldn’t have made it through in the UK or Australian version. Their spots could’ve gone to people with actual X-Factor material. If they think they can use Carlos as the ‘Lazaro; of this show, they are going to lose more ratings for sure…

  • nycguy

    I think that’s what they’re going for.

  • nycguy

Carlito was just fine. They need to stop.

  • nycguy

If America votes like they have sense, Carlos and Rachel will be the Bottom 2 tomorrow.

  • Dexter

Some fucking greedy and cheap bastards to offer those short-length songs for full price on iTunes. They really need to follow the The Voice in this department with full-length studio versions.

  • shell29

I agree. Nice backstories but that’s it. I hope these two are sent home soon.

  • shell29

    LOL!

  • shell29

Same here. I really enjoyed season one but it’s been downhill ever since. This top 12/13 may be worse than last season’s.

  • shell29

I would have preferred James as the wild card but I’m not mad about Josh coming back. He has potential and shouldn’t have been sent home in the first place over guys like Carlos or Tim who have zero potential.

  • Garrett Clayman

Sweet Suspense makes me love Janelle Arthur so much more

  • shell29

Oh Simon. If I didn’t know any better I’d think you’re purposely trying to tank your own show. Maybe the baby daddy thing is making him soft but he’s lost it as far as X Factor US goes. I loved season one but it has gone downhill since. Simon seems to think that viewers want to see feel good contestants and sentimental backstories over talent and performers who have, well, the X FACTOR. Overall, the latter is seriously lacking in this group. Of course the ratings are tanking-viewers are BORED.

Perfect example: you have TIM OLSTAD in the pimp spot? The nice, inoffensive guy with all of the ‘X Factor’ of a rutabaga and a performance style to match? Ugh. Carlos is in over his head and so is Rion. Eh, I can’t get excited about any of these folks and this now includes Lillie. She has the look, she has the voice but she keeps performing the same types of songs in the same way and I’m just about over her. I am happy to see Josh back-he shouldn’t have been sent home in the first place. He has real potential and promise.

At the rate this is going, I’ll be shocked if there’s a season four. I never thought I’d say that because I’m not one who has been wishing for this show to fail.

  • Dana Rimons

Wait… are the short-length versions on Itunes actual studio produced ones (just the same length as what they did on the show) or is it basically a recording of the show’s performance, with or without the audience added in? If it is the latter, that is horrible.

Heck, even offering short recordings is bad for the price but they should AT LEAST be studio recordings.

  • Nedsdag

    Don’t you mean Rachel Potter?

  • Nedsdag

    A funeral director?

  • Garrett Clayman

No I’m talking about Janelle’s version of YKMHO, SS version made me appreciate it a lot more

  • Nedsdag

    Oh, I see!

  • Guest

Paulina didn’t miss pronounce his last name as Le vey.

  • Guest

LOL… Josh Le vey the last show. South California… why is she even a judge? Getting a person off the street would be a better choice.

  • Guest

He’s peachy keen… what a joke! Paulina is worst than a drunken sailor.

  • Listening

I really want Restless Road to work b/c I love the concept. The three still don’t know how to operate as a group and they’re stiff on stage. The guy w/ the ears Colton I believe made a mess of the last note and well was pitchy on his solo to be honest. The other guy whose not really tall comes across like an earnest little puppy. When he sings he always seems to b seeking encouragement. Oh and the giant floating heads just creepy.
But all that aside, I still see potential in them. They’re not great singers but then so few artists are and what they got they can work on. Their vocal performance was much better than last time. And this was a much better song choice for them than Roar which was random and weird.

  • Listening

Hmm I was really looking forward to Ellona after last week’s performance. sI thought she was a star singing Til The World Ends and was the best out of everyone but this was a let down. Her vocals were simply okay but I wasn’t dazzled by her dance routine. Her chorography was pretty lame. I was bored and just focused on the weird movements of her hand.

  • Kamokunz

Hmph! I see you only have bad things to say about them, well I hope the opposite happens.

  • Kesia Monteith

I’m sorry, I’m one of those who wanted X-Factor to find success in the US…

But this bunch of “talent” has got to be one of the worse set of contestants of any talent show I’ve seen. Like, worse than season 9 & 12 of Idol combined. I could barely pay attention. I have no clue who should move on to next week, because I can barely give a damn. Simon should be embarrassed.

  • Listening

Hmm I think this is the first time I’ve like Jeff. I noticed an entrancing tone, That he should utilize more and his vocal was controlled. His stage presence is still awkward but at least he’s not coming off as a character, like some guy acting/playing rocker. He’s the best of the night vocally but then that wasn’t hard.

  • Listening

In regards to Alex and Sierra, Alex was the highlight of that performance. His tone was gritty and smooth at the same time.
Umm but I gotta say this at times his eyes look creepy/stalkerish maybe i’m being influenced by song lyrics, I don’t know.

  • Listening

Well Khaya surprised me, I actually liked that. She was doing some interesting things w/ her voice and pulled it off. I wasn’t a fan of her’s I thought she shouldn’t of made it to the top 4 but after that i’m glad she did. She adds a bit of diversity to the show.

  • Listening

I felt Lillie was too restrained w/ her vocal. And she could of moved a bit it felt like her hands were clued to her hips.

  • Listening

Sweet Suspense had a much improved vocal performance from last week. It was a tad awkward at times but when their moves and singing where on they shined/worked.

  • Listening

Rion lost control of her vocal in the middle part of the song when she tried to show passion/strength but the other parts the beginning and end were lovely.

  • Guest

    Too much unison singing.

  • Guest

Simon says Tim should go the Josh Groban direction… I think Tim should sing Kanye’s Tweets for next week. That would bring excitement.

  • bostonred

At least the judges actually criticized the singing a little. They need more of that and less trying to make a talentless country trio, the next big thing. I did not think any singers were great tonight. My top 3 would be Alex and Sierra, sad to say Lilli and Carlito, who I think has a career ahead.

  • Kariann Hart

I think several met the challenge of the Motown theme and changed it up. I liked Sweet Suspense, Jeff Gutt, and Alex & Sierra. I don’t like all these shows on at the same time. I guess X-Factor will be back next season?

  • Guest

    He’s the next Donny Osmond!

  • Guest

A Miley Cyrus blow up doll?

  • guest

Why demi picked that sonh for ellona?? But she nailed it and her vocal is very solid! They always want ellona to dance having some choreo lol and for khaya good song choice and I think it was the simpliest song. I dont know if demi like more khat than ellona lol but for rion uhmm no comment.

  • Guest

This is making me uncomfortable heads resting on crotches looks gayish.

  • Guest

Why did they give Ellona that outfit?

  • AngieSetMefree?

I just found out that Alex Kinsey audition for idol last season. Dang if they permitted WGWGs last season, he would’ve made it at least top 24 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5i6dA21B7UA

  • Whatiswrongwithus

He is sooooo cute! and witty too!

  • Erlie

I bought 4 songs in iTunes just to hear who would impress my hearing the most and oh my goodness, Sweet Suspense came on top. It was a 1:28 time. They sound amazing! Followed by Jeff Gutt at 1:49 time. His voice was immaculate it sounds really great on audio recording. Restless Road in third at 1:37 time. They sound good but I think it was the song that it’s dragging them down. Alex and Sierra came 4th for me at 1:30 time. Alex sounds great but Sierra is a little off to my hearing. Then again it may sound good to others. I agree that song choices can make the difference plus of course you have to have a great tone of voice to begin with.

  • Karen C

I find that as well, I remember the contestants on the X Factor and Idol, even as far back as the auditions, but I never remember many from The Voice. I’m not sure why, either.

  • Kamokunz

BREAKING! “There was an issue [with voting numbers] so everyone has to sing their save me song live tomorrow and America will vote on that performance”
    https://twitter.com/SimonCowell/status/398361732730470402

  • macfae

Thanks ! I enjoyed the interview.
Alex and Sierra are my favorites and now I like him that much more.
I love that he counts Jason Castro as one of his AI favorites. Alex has Jason’s laid back, chill personality.

  • guest

For demi’s girls– why they alway let ellona do some choreo sing and dance at the same time.. while the other two girls wer given a simple song. Khaya has the simpliest song among the 3. Ellona is a belter i thought she will be given a good song. Huh demi! but the girl is really a performer. Good control of voice and the last note wow i heard a little mariah..

  • Karen C

I saw that, not sure how they are going to do that with 13 contestants.

  • guest

Are they trying to ruin that girl? Man! She is a performer which khaya and rion cannot be able to do that. Tsktsk but when i watched and listen it again she is really good..

  • CB40

Alex and Sierra are the only ones I’d buy albums from.

  • Anny_nanny

    Simon Cowell ?@SimonCowell

A lot of you noticed there were some problems with the voting numbers at the end of the show tonight…you were right!

There was an issue so everyone has to sing their save me song live tomorrow and America will vote on that performance

Mistakes happen. But now I have 24 hours to prepare my groups for tomorrow night. Let’s hope they all deliver.

It’s happened once before. It’s live tv. You have to deal with it, tough for the contestants though. But you have to dig deep and deliver.

And for a couple of contestants they must be thanking their lucky stars they get to sing another song tomorrow.

  • guest

Make sure Demi will be choosing a good song for ellona since she will be singing BIG song. But, if not from last night the outfit and the song choice is not right but she sing the hell out of it! Ellona is very consistent and a contender.. As what i’ve read the whole thing that had happened for ellona’s performance last night — This is what we called SABOTAGE CANDIDATE/ CONTESTANT!!
