X Factor judges, Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, Paulina Rubio and Kelly Rowland finished up 3 days of auditions in Los Angeles on Friday. A press conference followed, and here are a few tidbits from the coverage.

X Factor 3 premieres on FOX on September 11.

On the judges panel chemistry:

In fact, a show insider told us that the three women get along so well that Cowell can sometimes be excluded from the love fest.

“That’s the price you pay,” Cowell said when we brought the tidbit up.

“The whole cast this year, there’s something really special about it,” Lovato explained. “And when we come together I feel it’s actually a family, which is actually so rare and I feel like it never happens, especially on these shows.”

More on “the girls” from Simon:

The infectious chemistry between the four was immediately apparent during Thursday’s auditions in Los Angeles with Lovato and Rubio dancing together before the taping, Rowland storming the stage to teach a rapping grandmother how to “twerk,” and all three women ganging up on Cowell when they didn’t agree with his snarky comments. “They are little devils,” Cowell told reporters with a grin. “I love difficult girls and I’ve met my match. I respect them and you see and hear things in a different way than you have before. It’s just a very different experience.”

Oh and…I wonder who Simon is talking about? Heh:

“I think we’ve learned from other shows that we can’t have a panel if they start hating each other’s guts. It’s so uncomfortable,” Cowell said. “So getting the casting right was key.”

Simon Cowell on X Factor creating stars:

“I think that what we did well last year was, particularly with the groups Fifth Harmony and Emblem3, was to show that on a show like this you can find an artist who can sell records that sell all over the world. That’s really the legacy of the show. It’s got to be that when you watch a show, you really believe that you’re watching a star being found and developed rather than just a winner.”

James Kenney, from the Season 1 Top 32, auditioned in Los Angeles again, according to Yahoo Music.

Who else auditioned? With latin star, Paulina Rubio on the panel, Simon is looking at the Hispanic music market:

Another new trend this season is the rise of Latin contenders, thanks in large part to the influence of new judge Rubio. “We wanted that,” Cowell explained. “I always felt that the Spanish market was really important. I would love some Spanish artists or one great Spanish artist for the label and so Paulina has been this beacon and they’re all attracted to her.”

Simon calls the groups auditioning in Los Angeles “dreadful”

The success of season two standouts Emblem3 and Fifth Harmony have brought a bevy of hopeful groups into the fold. “What I’m seeing a lot of is groups being put together by some very old people who last saw a boy band 20 years ago,” said Cowell. “So there is nothing spontaneous, nothing natural. They are dreadful.”
