FifthHarmony – Yay or Neigh?

  • iluvai

I chose Fifth Harmony because they sounded so pretty for 5 different girls. But Carly was the best of the single voices for me.

  • Stavros

Super disappointed with CeCe–I love Demi, but she absolutely left CeCe hanging tonight. I really hope she stays.  Same with Jennel.

  • Stavros

I would also like to say that Lyric 145 were brilliant tonight. Absolutely genius for Lyric to have come up with that idea for the group. She could be a worldwide superstar on her own.

  • iluvai

Lyric145 is just so amazingly entertaining. Not my kind of music at all.

Lyric145 For the win! They were amazing. Very entertaining and unique. Lyric Da Queen needs to be signed stat! I loved how she said the words backwords to LA during the little speech mid song.

Lyric 145 — If you had told me a couple of weeks ago I would feel this way, I wouldn’t have believed it, but I absolutely LOVED Lyric 145 tonight.  That was genius.

  • Jazz_11

Love Carly. So glad Britney let her be herself tonight. I like her version better than Bruno’s. Or maybe because Carly’s doesn’t sound strained.

    Lyric145 <3

  • Tera2

Arin Ray was the best to me today.  He sang well and his voice sounded good.  He performed like a star and it was like watching an award show.

Cece and Beatrice had very mediocre vocals, and Lyric145 and Emblem3 had wrong song choices and annoying performances.

I think Demi hijacked and destroyed the old CeCe and it’s lost forever.

  • jlscott13

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED LYRIC 145. They need to win.

  • girlygirltoo

Lyric145 are the only people out of all these contestants who I can see actually being stars once they get off XF. They are unique, creative, not afriad to take risks and they have a ton of personality and stage presence.

I am also a big fan of Carly Rose — she has got a great voice. But IMO she is too young to make much of an impact in the music industry right now. Maybe 3 or 4 years down the road, but not right now.

I really do not like Emblem3 in terms of their personalities (what was up with them trying to act like they are one step away from being homeless? Supposedly they are from well off families and have a ton of connections in Hollywood). But I do think they are a talented group. They aren’t a 1D/The Wanted type of boy band, which could work against them or for them. I’m not sure.

Arin has potential as a sort of Usher-lite type of r&b artist, but I haven’t been blown away by his last couple performances.

glad to see the blog’s overall opinion reflects mine.

Lyric 145 was my choice the first time I heard them.  They are so talented and entertaining.  I don’t think you will get the same thing twice.  I hate rap music, and I love this group.  I always have said that a good cook is one that can cook a dish that I don’t like and when I taste it I love it.  That is Lyric 145.  I hope they win.

You have been CeCe’s supporter from the beginning, and I did not like her at all. Until I discovered, that she really has some great voice. And actually, her fellow contestants seem to like her, and she has feelings for other people = she is a nice person. But it is like she has no self confidence at all, which is grazy. Somebody should tell her for real, that she is an awesome singer and someone to love also – why in the world she lacks self confidence.
This all must annoy you, who has seen her potential from the very start.

Actually, not from the beggining. I just like her because she’s good TV — I’m not even a fan of pop singers and music. If she continues boring like this, I’ll lose all my interest, which i think…i already lost. LOL

  • jobeob987

Cece was so bad last night that I almost wondered if I had imagined she could really sing so I just listened again to her IWALY rendition during boot camp.  It was awesome.  Demi needs to kick this thing into gear because it would be a real shame, imo, if CeCe got the boot this early.

I have to say the more I rewatch Lyric145 the more I like it, it’s addictive. I initially re-watched it b/c I wanted to see if I got that perplexing mix of liking it yet not liking it as LA Reid had again. But instead of the same feeling i’m like wow this is different and cool. I’m being sucked into their madness. I start popping my head to the beat of their Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, paired w/ the synthetic ( I thing that’s what that sound was) music is killer. Look at their attitude they’re totally selling it. This is what they call a grower the more you watch it the more you like it.

I mean like sit back and think of what they did they turned a Mary Poppins song into a rap. I thought they were thinking outside the box when they turned a Miley song Party in the USA into a rap.

Lyric 145 is EXACTLY what all these competitions need — hardworking, FRESH artists who can be commercially viable. They have a Black Eyed Peas meets LMFAO kind of vibe and I LOVE it. The hook on “SuperCal” was AWESOME.

  • Reflects On Life

Cece comes across to me as bipolar.  If the show knows that about her and is purposely trying to trigger her condition, they’ve reached a new level of soullessness.  No wonder Cece seems scared.

Contrast it to how AI treated James Durbin’s aspergers.  Other than talking about his condition initially, they were really respectful of it and let him be him.  They could easily have tripped him up, gotten him to be angry/upset, cut to reaction shots, easily toyed with his vulnerability, but they never did.

(Instead, they did all this to Haley, LOL, but at least she’s a mentally healthy person, not someone with a condition like aspergers or bipolar.)

  • Reflects On Life

So far, this competition seems to be a horse race btwn Carly & Lyric.

Emblem kind of floats in out and of my consciousness.  Their douchiness makes them unlikeable & icky, which makes me not want to watch.  Especially the Spiccolli character.  Otherwise they’d be up there with Carly & Lyric.

Beatrice is my favorite, but clealy this competition is not doing her any favors.  She’s been set up as cannon fodder last week & this week.  Her incredible tone is obliterated by the shouty songs she is given to sing.

I’m impressed with Paige’s ability to handle all she’s required to do onstage. Even the pros lip sync while doing all that.  Kudos & props to her.

Tate & Vino are the underdogs.  I think especially Tate, moreso than Vino, just because country music does accept men beraking into the market mid-career and well past 30.

They are really trying to sell us hard on 5th Harmony.  Kinda like XFUK did with Little Mix last year.  If we see weekly growth from them, people will root for them as the band we saw form and grow.

So if Carly or Lyric eventually suffer from frontrunner disease, I think either Emblem, Tate, or Little Mix whoops I mean 5th Harmony “peaks at the right time”, as they say.

I’d be very happy if Lyric 145 is a frontrunner.  I love them.  Seems like most everywhere else I read they think Emblem 3 is the definite frontrunner with maybe Carly close behind.  Though I know Fifth Harmony has a huge following as well.

Tonight was much better than last week.  To me, Lyric 145 was hands-down the best performance of the night (and possibly the season).  If they don’t win, I hope Simon lets LA Reid sign them, because LA is in a much better position to help their career and I think they will definitely resonate with the general population.

Aside from Lyric 145, my other favorites were Carly, Emblem 3, Arin and Tate, although sometimes I get a poseur vibe from the  Emblem 3 guys.  Beatrice was very good, although I don’t know what possessed her to dress like a homeless person weathering a snowstorm.

Britney doesn’t have a lot to say as a judge, but I still maintain that she’s the best coach, because she’s helping them acquire the skills that made her successful. She’s managed to make all of her contestants look and sound more marketable and appealing to young people, and that’s what Britney does best. Carly finally sounded and looked like a pop star instead of a Broadway singer, and Arin’s performance was smooth, polished and professional, with great choreography. It’s obvious that she’s worked really hard with her team.

Simon is also doing a great job, mainly by not interfering and letting groups like Lyric 145 and Emblem 3 do their own thing. I do think that his input has helped with Fifth Harmony.
