You all remember Will Wingfield? Debbie Allen’s protege on Season 4′s So You Think You Can Dance?   Many of you felt it was a travesty he didn’t make the finals that season.   Will’s doing just fine–he just landed a role on Broadway:

Via TheaterMania:

Will Wingfield, a contestant on FOX-TV’s So You Think You Can Dance, will take over the role of Graffiti Pete in the Broadway musical In the Heights, at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, beginning on August 26. He replaces Seth Stewart in the role.

The show is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler. Featuring music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, and a book by Quiara Alegrà a Hudes, In the Heights is about a vibrant and tight-knit community at the top of the island of Manhattan, and focuses on the hopes and dreams of three generations as they struggle to forge an identity in a neighborhood on the brink of transition. In The Heights is the winner of four 2008 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

He was really good. I’m glad he’s doing well. One thing I hate about SYTYCD is that it’s too easy for dancers to disappear from my radar once the season ends. I appreciate the updates.

This is awesome for Will! Good for him! In The Heights is a FANTASTIC show. I saw it in NY when I was there in January, and am seeing it again when the touring company hits Orlando in March.

For the ones that are seeking professional careers, Broadway or Vegas is pretty much where most of them will end up, A few will get signed on as dancers for some musical acts, but those assignments will be short term. Although, there’s work going on for these musicals to transfer to film. Some of the dancers will get work on them.
