Who is Having Breakfast with David Archuleta Tomorrow? I am!

I am so jealous! I have still never met him and I have no prospect of doing so. Please tell him we said hi. From what everyone says, he is so gorgeous, charming, and amazing in person. He may just make you a fangirl.

I do have a question. It was rumored that he was going to sing a song written by JC Chasez (was with JIVE but then separated from them) called “ruined me”. I have heard it on youtube but it was never released. I have heard that he did some writing with JC, possibly for one of the songs on his album. “Ruined me” is not listed as one of his tracks for his album, but someone found it listed as recorded by him. Does he think he will ever release it, has JC not given him permission, or did they decide against it?

David has a new blog…

Today, I’m in Chicago, and have started doing radio promo stuff. I started yesterday in San Diego, then went to Seattle, then later to Milwaukee, and now I’m here in Chicago. Next, we’ll be in Pittsburgh pretty soon, haha. Last Friday, I was back in L.A., where I had a photo shoot. The photo shoot was just for some teen magazines, like the ones I’ve done before. It’s amazing how long it can take to just take pictures. I think I was there for like seven hours, and you’d think that pictures wouldn’t take that long, haha. But it takes a while to get what you need. You have to figure out which outfits to wear, and then get in the right mood for the kind of shot you need, I guess.

On Saturday, Michael Johns was throwing a party for his 30th birthday, and so I went with Brooke and her husband. There were a few familiar faces from the show and tour, and it was nice to see them again. Jason, Chikezie, and Cook were able to go too, so it was kinda like a little reunion with everyone, haha. Sunday, we were able to go to church with Brooke’s husband, which I rarely get to do anymore, so that was really nice.

Monday is when the radio promo stuff started, and so I’ll be doing that for a while. That’s where I go to different radio stations in different cities and just talk to them, and meet people who won contests for meet and greet passes, haha. It’s been a lot of fun so far, and I’ve gotten to see a bunch of people who I met during the tour. I’m looking forward to going to the next cities and seeing how it goes, and I’ll let you know how those go next week.

1. Did David do any “serious” songwriting before AI? (i.e., did he bring anything solid to the table when he started writing for the album?)

2. Even just for kicks, did he do any songwriting with any of the other AI contestants over the summer? If not, whom would he consider the most compatible with him as a songwriting partner?

Here’s a simple question: how does he juggle scool work with the radio promo and other career related activities? on AI he had to do 3 hours school I think, does he do his homework in the car while traveling from city to city or at night.

Ok another question. I know he was trying to make the decision about what to do with his schooling. I had heard that JIVE and many people were urging him to just take the GED, but that he started doing electronic high school. Then I heard from Cruzceleste that they had finally decided to take the GED because electronic high school was too hard while he was so busy. Please find out what they have decided to do.

Have fun and maybe while you are there you could throw the David Cook fans a bone and ask the MIX why the heck they don’t play Light On. It is a far better song that much of what they do play. I don’t understand. I hear TOML a few times each day, but have heard Light On exactly twice in all of these weeks and that is with many, many requests coming from many DC fans.

I mentioned this on another thread, but I will say it here. On the GED thing. I think David was born to sing (as Randy would put it). I think he would have been discovered eventually, but AI just hastened it. With AI being a “music boot camp” as David has called it, tour being an incredible and intense music learning experience, and working with professional writers while recording, David has gotten a music experience that rivals my bachelors and masters degree in music and was way more practical. I think getting his GED is nothing he should be ashamed of.

I am definitely an out of the box educational thinker and my kids did all kinds of different things to get their education, including one who I home schooled through middle school and about half time during high school. She was born to be a writer and got what she needed out of each thing she did. She did not graduate or get her GED for many reasons, but she is at a major university on full scholarship in editing but hopes to be a writer.

Education is for learning, not just to say you did it, IMO or to get the piece of paper. David got a rounded education for many years, but is now getting the education that will serve him best.

BTW, when given little descriptions of the songs on the album by someone close to David, one of the songs said this:

You Can – Ballad (acoustic guitar); very beautiful melody and lyric, very “David.”

I am guessing that is the song David wrote.

Hi guys, I’m back!

David is such a sweet, cute kid. Could not have been nicer. I had a rather longish talk with Jeff. He knew who I was. Oops. No, he was fine with it! He said he found my spoilers back in November most interesting. Ha ha.

The small crowd was mostly teens and their moms. They had no idea they could pre-order david’s album on iTunes. David also didn’t seem to know that his preorder had made it to #6 on iTunes.

He got stuck in traffic on his way back from Kiss. He had to cross town to get to WBMX. Lucky for me I only live about 15 minutes away….

So that was pretty fun! I’ve got some pics I’ll upload in a minute…

It’s always been obvious that Jeff was reading here, and at other places. Frankly he had to know about Mj, almost all over the top idol fans do! LOL! He also has to monitor the internet just because he has to know how powerful it is. I am surprised that many did not know about the preorder! That is good, and bad at the same time. Good because it’s reception has been really good, but somebody keeps dropping the ball with information, the fansites can only do so much. I only knew because of Mj, and it’s not a fansite!

It’s interesting that they were in a rush to get “good” songs in the last two weeks and placed the songwriting in his hands. I would have thought that they were having “good” songs readied for him since February since he was a shoe-in for a record deal from Day 1. I wonder if they ran into any roadblocks in terms of what he is and isn’t willing to sing, lyrically and thematically.

That’s impressive that a song he wrote at 14 made the album. (I’m a little skeered though – wasn’t he still singing like a big diva at that point, not too long after Star Search? I’m imagining something along the lines of And I Am Telling You” lol)

LKO8 I agree with everything you said about education. He is getting a much better education than he can get in the classroom.

Good songs are hard to find. That’s why competition for them is so fierce! Not surprised about Archie’s dilema, but I’m happy they let him use his own songs.

From what I understand also.. back from when he was starting the album, DAvid made a comment about how he is really picky and such, but with the limited time sometimes you just kinda have to find a song and go with it.

From my point of view he’s somewhat of a perfectionist.

He had absolutely no clue who I was. LOL. As far as Jeff is concerned, he seemed pretty nice. I’ve chatted with Idol parents before. And, I felt I wasn’t just talking to Dad, but to someone who was very much involved in his son’s career. He definitely plays the role of Dad/manager to David.
