Yippee for Danny moving up to #5 at GAC! That is a hard one; strictly a one vote system-computer doesn’t let you cheat & they penalize artist if you do.

Danny was retired to the Wall of Fame on Crook & Chase Coundown Facebook. This is for a top 30 vote.

He was unbeatable there for six weeks as part of the “Bound for the countdown” bonus song feature- facebook voting. I guess they want to give someone else a chance.

He even beat Taylor Swift this past time (I have no illusions he is more popular than Taylor, lol, it just proves her fans are pop fans and don’t hang out or pay attention to country coundowns and blogs).

Nice that The Truth made the VH1 countdown! It was added to the VH1 list on Wednesday, so it made the countdown despite not being on the list for the whole voting period.

As expected, the video has helped the song move up the iTunes chart — currently at #367. It briefly passed LLWD, but LLWD refuses to go down without a fight, and has re-passed the TT, sitting at #347 (LOL)

mama2dasha- according to peeps at PF, those Cumulus spins are probably syndicated. Besides PC spins there is also American Top 40 spins- that is probably what happened with the Alabama spin this morning. And the KIIS one.

For a lot of stations, they are still playing recent recurrent songs and spinning the top songs over and over ad nauseum, plus a smattering of older songs and of course a ton of airtime going to ads / DJ chatter. Makes it hard to have room for regular airplay of all 40 current top 40 songs, probably. A lot of country stations barely play anything outside the top 20-25 or so during hours you’d actually hear it outside a countdown show

Although I didn’t especially care for the song, I’d like to see Matt do well. It’s looking that with some help from Jim Brickman, Matt may reach a top 20 single before long on the AC chart.

So far, Kris and Adam are the only ones from S8 to do that in any of the formats. Danny came close with MBD (#22 country), but Allison, not remotely close thus far and seems to be a dicey bet if she will get another single from this album after the first three attempts didn’t do much.

smeggingnuts: actually Adam is only 4 spins behind going top 20 for tomorrows chart because Kesha’s song is going recurrent. Nicki Minaj’s song thats ahead of Adam has been losing spins for the past 3 days. Hopefully it doesnt somehow miraculously rebound and Adam can make it to top 20 for tomorrows chart. Adam needs a strong update for tomorrow because today’s was the weakest it’s been in months I think. It would SUCK if it doesnt make it top 20 tomorrow because there are a ton of songs behind Adam thats going to push it further down the chart for next week.

GAC and (big) CMT are the country music channels with greatest reach. CMT Pure is an additional digital channel that runs on a small number of markets. I tend to watch big CMT less though than either GAC or CMT Pure as it has a lot more non-music type programming.

The CMT Top 20 countdown seems to be based mostly on radio play/sales figures and other factors decided by the peeps who run it. There is a voting poll, but hard to say how or if they factor in what results that gets. The GAC poll is fan-voted, 1x/day per ip address so it’s harder to spam. The CMT Pure is one where fans can vote as much/as often as they want for their favorite.

I don’t have any idea if you can tie GAC or CMT countdown rankings or other music video airplay, in any concrete terms to what happens on country radio or sales charts.

Don’t see how it can hurt though to be featured, and believe it also helps keep people in the country audience’s eye for things like selling concert tickets. I probably watch more country music television than I listen to country radio, pretty sure I’m not the only one like that.

Maybe a little bit. Danny’s album tends to go up on Itunes and sometimes Amazon on the weekend. Though I think that’s mostly due to concerts he has on the weekend, and his song being played by Top 40 radio countdowns on the weekend. I have seen it go up a little after it’s been played on the GAC countdown. But it being played on the GAC countdown doesn’t have a big impact on his sales.

Though it does give his music more exposure. I think that it’s similar with the CMT countdown as well, though more people would see his music.

I don’ t think that a song being played on the GAC/CMT countdowns has a big impact on sales, unless it’s a song that is already very popular. And/or if it’s a very popular music video.

Usher will go recurrent next week. And possibly travie if his big negative updates continue

It’s unfortunate to see what has happened with Allison. I don’t know what’s going to happen with her now. I don’t know if she will get another single, since she has gotten three that haven’t done well. And I wonder if she will get a 2nd album with Jive, especially since she hasn’t released any type of hit single off this one.

Does anyone know the rules for going recurrent on AC? I haven’t been watching long enough to know, but a couple songs dropped off from the middle last week and that must have been what happened to them.

Unless the rules changed for AC like they did for HAC a couple of months ago, they go something like 40 weeks and below #5, 30 weeks and below #10, 20 weeks and below #15.

Cumulus spins of IIHY were all syndicated spins and the KIIS LA spins of IIHY erroneously reported as local spins appear to have been on AT40 this morning.

However, IIHY got + spins on the Saturday night syndicated shows tonight and should be #20 on this week’s published charts. (Ke$ha YLMD goes recurrent tomorrow.)

YAY Congrats to Adam for another top 20 pop hit!!! since he’s 42 on the Hot 100 last week, he’s more than likely gonna be top 40 on the Hot 100 this week too since the Itunes sales were a lot higher and he sold the remixes through his website. I wonder if anything is going recurrent on Hot AC that will give If I Had You a boost to top 25 on HAC. sooo thrilled either way! I remember a lot of people werent sure how well IIHY was gonna do. so happy it made it to top 20. I hope this means other stations will pay attention and jump on board. Girlygirl, Springboard posted that Adam was at #28 originally. We posted at the same time and our numbers matched. He’s been 28 since yesterday.

Not a great update for The Truth on HAC today. Loss of AI two days in a row and loss in spins today. Small losses though, so hopefully AI will get back up over 4 million again and spins will increase.

I can’t see it making a comeback on POP but you never know.

Positive for TT it is gaining on I-tunes means the video is creating some buzz.

It’s a little scary how few single downloads HAC actually sells. And even a #20 on Pop isn’t really generating a boatload of sales for IIHY. I won’t even touch the AC chart because that sells almost no single downloads. On the other hand, getting a song played on any genre of radio still gives an artist exposure. And it can continue to sell albums for some.

I’m not sure what is powering single downloads these days but it sure ain’t HAC type music based on those iTunes rankings.

Congratz to Adam for making another top 20 and all Idols on their accomplishments in this tough music industry. Here’s hoping that SBL will start moving up Top 40 and the itunes now that David has begun promo.

Yes, I was surprised Daughtry only sold 12K last week even though he’s in top 10 and with over 16 audience impression. Maybe because his album already sold well? IDK

Other than during the holiday seasons the only songs selling in the 100k per week range are in the top 10 on iTunes. The top ten on iTunes generally correlates with the top ten on pop with the exception of new lead singles from established artists or after big tv performances. Iihy sales have been roughly in line with it’s chart position for several weeks now. For past week it’s been between #28 and #23. songs above it generally have more additional play on rythmic or hac It likely sold in the range of 40k last week. Seems pretty solid to me

I think single downloads sales are starting to stagnate. They’re not going down steadily like album sales but they don’t seem to be exploding anymore either. Downloads in the summer are def way down from sales after December.

For a while there every hit single was setting a record for downloads. I’m not sure that’s happening anymore.

You are def right about that jpfan. I think that the beginnings of the decline in downloads has been documented. People can get the music for free so they no longer buy it

I knew they had started to level out. IMO part of the reason is that there is no longer a set .99 price for the single. The record labels finally got to price adjust the singles with the top tier at $1.29 starting last year. I think that’s had an influence on the record breaking sales occuring prior to that.

Out of the numerous country acts who’ve been fading somewhat lately, only one went recurrent. As of today there are five others who have been down two weeks straight on the final chart. Kellie is one of them, unfortunately, so good chance she may be out next week.

Hoping Danny can break into the low thirties after next weekend if he keeps moving up, and most or all of the likely recurrents come to pass.

Glad to see IWNSGB moved up a spot. Looks like several songs could go recurrent next week giving Danny’s song an opportunity to move up. Sorry that Kellie’s song seems to have run out of steam. Her songs usually make top 20 so I am a little surprised that this one looks like it is finished. The country charts move so slow for newer artists.

I have IWNSG actually dropping one spot this week. According to my spreadsheet I’ve been keeping for the S8 people, Danny’s single was #36 on last week’s published chart.

Danny’s song was #36 on the published chart last week, he did drop one spot lower on the published chart for this week. But he’s still up in spins and his audience impression is better than it was on last week’s published chart. Also he spent most of this past week at #38 on the chart.

I think that next week as long as Danny keeps increasing in spins and audience impressions, he has the chance to move up on the chart. I think he could possibly move up at least two spots higher and hit a new peak of #35 or better. I think that at least two songs will go recurrent next week, (Alan Jackson’s and Kellie Pickler’s.)

Possibly more songs might go recurrent, maybe Zac Brown Band’s “Free” and possibly David Nail’s “Turning Home” Gary Allan has been losing spins as well, but he might stay around another week or two.

Chris Young could possibly catch Danny on the chart and I think that Carrie’s new song could start to really move on the chart as well. Those songs might could pass Danny, on the chart next week.

I think that Danny might hit somewhere between #37-#33 on the chart next week. If at least Chris Young and/or maybe Carrie start to really move on the chart, he might end up ranked like #36 or #37 on the chart.

If they don’t pass him next week or only one passes him, he might rank #36 or better. Depending on how many people go recurrent. He could end up ranked maybe like #33, if 4 artists go recurrent, (Alan, Kellie, ZBB, David Nail)

Danny could possibly move up next week on the chart and maybe see some nice movement on it.

I’ll be interested how Danny does in the next week or two. He hasn’t made a ton of movement lately as far as sizable increases in points or spins but he’s been rising pretty steadily despite that. And he has held off most of the competition pretty well who you’d put in a similar category as Danny, or more established like Chris Young. Chris actually will be another interesting case, if his do-over single does well or not.

It’s just been a tough past few weeks with almost a perfect storm of big acts coming through with songs charging into the middle of the chart and soaking up a ton of spins as they do it (Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, ZBB, Taylor Swift, Sugarland, Brad Paisley, to lesser degree Miranda Lambert…).

Maybe Carrie can be patient in pushing her next song, lol. Luke Bryan is coming up too, but doesn’t so far seem to be moving extremely fast with it.

I agree. I am glad that Danny has been hanging in there, because this storm of singles being released by the big acts have negatively affected some of the other newer/less established/less famous acts like Kevin Fowler. It even had an affect on someone more established like Kellie Pickler.

One of Danny’s labelmates Chuck Wicks, song is really dropping in spins right now and I think has only peaked at like 40, before falling down the chart pretty quickly. Some of the newer/less established acts really couldn’t stand the rush of singles from the big acts, but Danny has been hanging in there.

I noticed that Luke Bryan’s latest single seems to be moving at a more modest pace, than some singles by some of the big acts. I think that Carrie’s latest single will fly up the chart, once it starts to really get moving.
