The Adam Lambert song seems to be really struggling.

Yeah, I hope it starts to move after he starts his US radio promo this week.  I think he goes to Z100 Tuesday.   I am hoping they have been waiting to spin his song until they get the interview.  Who knows.   The good news is that he seems to be lining up big gigs up overseas, i.e the Japan concert and the practically confirmed Queen gig.

I do think the roll out has been odd and I think they released a single before they were ready.  I read here that Adam did say he may release another single before his album dropped.

Regardless, the album sounds great from the reviews I have read from the UK.   So I am loooking forward to it.

BTIKM is on the VH1 Countdown list now.

I know it premiered last week on their website but I didn’t know it was shown on the cable channel.  So does that mean it will air today?

Someone said there was an introduction to BTIKM on jump start today. It is on the voting list starting yesterday, so hoping it will show up on the countdown next week!!

the full btikm video hasn’t played on vh1 yet (i think vevo had an exclusive for the week). it will probably start airing on jump start on monday…they only played the introduction/interview this week.  But on Friday afternoon they added it to the top 20 voting list for next week’s show.  So it should start being played on Monday and my guess is it will make next week’s countdown (idols alway do….)  Adam is probably doing an interview or something with vh1 while in nyc this week

I really hope BTIKM picks up some steam soon. If not, I think RCA will release another single before they release the album, even if it forces them to delay the album release. There is no point in releasing it unless he has a strong radio presence at the time, otherwise he will only be selling to his existing, mainly AI, fanbase.

It sounds like the US radio promo is ramping up exactly on the schedule we heard from Joe Ricitelli awhile back. If I’ve kept track correctly, next week Adam’s got radio contests/visits at 3 NYC stations, 2 Philly stations and 1 more from somewhere in that geographic area as well. I’m hoping he stops by VH1 does an interview with them, he’s hosting a Fuse countdown show as well.

wow, James song has come back from the dead on hac.  Good for him!  also think that rumors of BTIKM demise may be somewhat exaggerated….i’ll never understand RCA’s thinking in releasing the song during the xmas freeze, and not scheduling a radio promo tour until mid-February (I mean there were scenarios in which that would have made sense such as a major promo opp in the interim, but that clearly wasn’t the case) but radio promo is finally kicking in and over the past week there have been lots of new spinners — Boston and Denver HAC should auto-add tomorrow, wplj played it overnight, wxlo started spinning, kbig gave it a spin, hac stations in buffalo and memphis have spun, most of the new chr adders from last week have started spinning, and there have been test spins in other markets etc. etc.  If (and who know if or when they will) plj and kbig add, then btikm will have been added at either hac or chr in a substantial numberl of the major markets (san fran, boston, chicago, ny, la, denver, houston, orlando, philly, salt lake city).  The song may wind up going no where, but at least for the moment its moving in the right direction albeit at a snails pace

I agree.  Sometimes songs catch on slowly.  Everyone needs to just give BTIKM some time. And congrats to James for still making progress with that song. Surprising to see he gained that many spins.

Interesting to see MKIA on the Smooth Jazz charts. That’s one chart I wouldn’t have expected it to show up on!

As for BTIKM, Adam has a ton of promo on the East Coast this week, including at Z-100 in NYC. So I think after he gets done with that we might start to get a better indication of whether the song will really catch on — especially since the MV is now available to be voted on for the VH1 countdown.

Since I have never been totally convinced that the success or failure of a single is the “only” thing responsible for how an album sells I’m not too worried about how his single is doing on radio right now.  Considering that many of the top tunes on the pop chart come from somewhat “low” selling albums and that some great selling albums have no representation on the charts right now says to me that one doesn’t necessarily have a direct correlation to the other.  I think I will reserve judgment on Adam until 6 months after his album debuts…until then it is just a guessing game, anywhos.

Still, what a shame.

Wow at Whitney’s chart domination!  I can’t say I’m surprised by it though.  She’s a legend, and she had one of those once in a generation voices.  I was a little shocked at how sad I felt upon hearing the news.  And, I too felt the need to listen to some Whitney tunes last night. 

A poster at Pulse was saying last night that prior to the announcement of Whitney’s death that “I Will Always Love You” was already at $0.69 at i-tunes so there’s no telling how well that song may sell digitally for the week according to Soundscan (week ending today) before today is over with.

So many amazing songs from Whitney.  I am not a huge diva singer fan but no doubt she was the best at it unbelievable voice.

Between Whitney’s death, the Grammy bounce for the nominees and new records released this week iTunes may need a respirator before this week is over.

 Yay! Adam is still gaining spins…so it’s good, baby steps. Lot’s of promo coming up so yes next couple of weeks will be interesting to watch.

Also agree with Tess not every song/album lives or dies strictly on radio play.

Do I wish it was moving faster? Why yes I do but I’ll take slow over not at all.

The radios peeps at SOJO in AC seemed to love him that night. Maybe he’s had the same effect at these other stations.
Once you meet him and talk to him you realize what a sweetheart of a guy he is.

Surprised to see Durbin’s song getting such a bump on HAC. That’s a nice increase in audience so it can’t just be a tiny market playing it.

Really nice week for Casey ,Lauren and Scotty good spins bullets and positive AI’s all week. Bouncing up and down in positions but ended up about where they all started. So slow  to move on this Country chart one needs a lot of patience.

Nice update for James. Happy for him and his fans.  As a person who is an Idol fan, I love it when alums do well as it helps the Idol brand.

Looks like BTIKM is having some issues in Canada.

BTIKM has done this before in Canada.   It makes some gains, then slips and then goes back up.    It’s seems to be a two steps forward one step back for him.   If it continues to go down next week then we will know. 

On a somewhat related note but not exclusively focused on Adam, I wonder if we should expect some artists on HAC and AC to lose spins this week due to the tributes to Whitney.  I am sure there will be many stations playing her.

So glad you said that jean1010, I feel exactly the same way!  I like to see all of them do well, even the ones I’m not particularly a fan of, and I kind of feel proud of every one of them that does have some success after coming off the show.

Congrats to James for cracking the top 40. I honestly thought LMB was dead. I suspect it’s James personality that’s gaining him new fans among the PDs. He’s gaining a reputation for being a real hoot in interviews, he’s so funny and entertaining in person. He’s winning them one at a time it seems. Well done!

That great that Adam is back at 31 on HAC.  I am very hopeful that the video will help a lot when VH1 puts in in rotation.  I know that it is mostly being viewed by his fans, but they really like it because it has over 2,600,000 views.   I bet others will enjoy watching it also.

Although it’s still climbing, it has slowed down a bit from those first 5 days when it was in VEVO border ads and sidebar playlists. I think a good portion of those views were people who saw the VEVO promotion and were curious enough to click through to the vid. But since that’s been over for several days, hopefully exposure to the vid will increase again once it starts getting played in VH1′s rotation.
