“Scotty’s WTT ……..could actually move up 4 spots too, possibly  …..benefiting from 3 recurrents. That would put him at #39 and mean WTT made BB t40 in 14 weeks.”……………..

Now that would really make my week. Biting nails now

I dunno, I tend to think Daughtryland, Allenland, Reinhardland, and a whole bunch of other Idol colonies have alot more realness to worry about than Lambertland. But that’s just me. I’m personally thrilled to see him performing to 300K peeps after Elton John versus, say appearing at the comic book convention.

This is the current UK airplay/radio chart: It shows the top 100 songs in the UK:  http://www.ukairplaychart.com/c/

NCOE fell off of it a few days ago.

This is the current top 40 chart that was being referenced in the headlines thread, this chart is only based on sales: http://www.officialcharts.com/singles-chart/

Last week is the first time where NCOE was available.  Just like in the US, the chart starts back over at zero each week.  There’s no reason why NCOE, especially given that it came out the week of the album, the midweek report, and the amount of promo, couldn’t be higher. The arrows that you see are in reference to rankings, and NCOE doesn’t have an arrow, because it wasn’t on the chart last week.

Not to speak for anyone else, but I think that the basic thought is that NCOE debuting at #17 probably won’t result in radio stations playing the song.  Through it’s run, NCOE was only played by Capital Radio, and this ranking might not get them to start playing the song again, or convince BBC 1 or any other station to play it.

I don’t know if Daughtry’s partnership with DC Comics actually has him performing at Comic Con.  It does have him performing and releasing an original charity single for them. 130,000 people attend Comic Con, so it’s nice that Chris’ talents as a of his own music are going to be put on display. He really shed the image that those from AI are just karaoke singers, who just do covers.

But, it is nice that Adam gets to take part in these Queen gigs, and Queen getting to perform at the same charity event as Elton John.

Good point, I’ll fix that. :)

This is the radio chart, it’s the list of the top 100 songs in the UK for the week.

This is the singles chart, that is based on sales that was being referenced in the headlines thread:  http://www.officialcharts.com/singles-chart/

The arrows are in reference to chart positions last week.  As with the Billboard sales chart, all of the songs start back at zero every week, so there’s no reason why NCOE couldn’t be higher on the list.

Not to speak for anyone else, but I think the main idea is that this song isn’t going to get added by anymore stations, or have its spins amped back up by the one station that was playing it, since it failed to chart higher than this.  In the US airplay pushes sales, but in the UK it seems like it’s the other way around.

    Nvm.

Thanks for the link and explanation.

Lol, a lot of people attend that “comic book convention” — sometimes they line up for days beforehand. Over the past few years, Comic-Con has become a huge deal — you will see a bunch of tv and even movie stars appearing at it now.

ETA – I don’t know if Daughtry actually performed at this, though

I guess I’m the only one sick of getting deluged with Comic-Con at this time each year.  It mainly seems to have become a huge advertising campaign for fall TV shows.  A lot of the stuff that comes out of it is hardly interesting, much less worthwhile, IMO.

Yes thanks. And it does seem like it’s the reverse of ours.

But I was referencing the BBC RADIO chart and said “for example” in my text – about how EVERYONE is negative bullet except about 4 etc.. And gave that link. But I realize it’s confusing when extracting my post from another thread that the poster I was replying to isn’t cited. We are talking about two different things.

    This radio chart:http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/singles

  • OffLeash

I don’t get it. It’s the same chart as the singles chart here:
    http://www.officialcharts.com/singles-chart/

No, we are talking about the same thing.  The chart is posted by BBC radio,  but this is a sales chart, not a radio chart, and it’s the same sales chart that I posted.  BBC One isn’t even playing NCOE, the only station owner that did was Capital, and they have reduced their support enough, so that NCOE has fallen off of the top 100 played singles in the UK.

Look at this chart again, there is no arrow by NCOE, because this is the first week that the song was available for purchase.  It’s also as high as it’s going to get on that chart.

I know it may be hard to understand the chart, because we tend to look at things from the perspective of how things work in the US.  If a song was ranked #17th in sales in the US, that would be an amazing thing, and possibly a sign that the song is, or could be a hit. But, Adam really needed initial sales of the single and album to be good enough to convince other stations to play his song.  I doubt that this ranking, and what it means in terms of actual numbers is going to do that.

I wonder why didn’t the Sony reps. in the UK book Adam for some of the music festivals that have taken place this summer.  I think that he was in town for at least two of them.  While the Queen gigs are nice, those festivals/radio concerts were geared towards a much younger crowd, parts were televised, and they would have allowed him to perform his own music.
