Weekend Countdown Shows – 01/08/11

Every weekend, there are countless countdown shows. VH1’s top 20 videos. Ryan’s American Top 40. Rick Dee’s Weekly Top 40 and many more. If you find an Idol on one of these shows, please post it here!

The year end count down shows are over so this weekend, we should start to see some new stuff. Yay!

This is the general numbers thread for the weekend. So, if you find some cool numbers, this is the thread for posting them.

VH 1 Top 20 Countdown (thanks wordnerdarchie)
11 Lee DeWyze “Sweet Serendipity” [3|11] [+1] New Peak
15 Crystal Bowersox “Farmer’s Daughter” [1|15] [DEBUT] 1st ever video by Crystal Bowersox to debut on VH1 Top 20

American Top 40 Weekend Of January 9th 2011
27 #39 (12) Daughtry “September” [39 is the current spot]

  • springboard

I have made a graph chart for the most recent idol debut albums, s6, 7, 8, 9, if anyone is interested.

    https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B4nyBprQsNSGNjBjNDNmMTItNmZkNS00OTA0LTk5NTQtMjg3NDUyMDAzNmNj&authkey=CIuMmP8G&hl=en

The sharp rise for the first weeks corresponds to pre-Christmas sales. MBD doesn’t have one because it was released in March.

  • Valentin432

    CMT top 20:

    #8 (10) Don’t You Wanna Stay (Jason Aldean/Kelly Clarkson)
    #2 (2) Mama’s Song (Carrie Underwood)

  • fuzzywuzzy

    #8 (10) Don’t You Wanna Stay (Jason Aldean/Kelly Clarkson)

What’s especially cool about this ranking is that it’s the video of Jason and Kelly’s live performance of DYWS at the CMA awards. :)

  • Kitwana

Pretty good for Farmer’s Daughter to get to 15 on VH1 before it’s HotAC add date. Usually VH1 does not even put a song up for voting before it’s add date. Song may have some legs.

  • loveroftalent

It’s good to see both Lee and Chrystal on the VH1 countdown. Hoping they both do well

  • fuzzywuzzy

Pretty good for Farmer’s Daughter to get to 15 on VH1 before it’s HotAC add date.

That’s great! Did they show the entire video?

  • Incipit

I have made a graph chart for the most recent idol debut albums, s6, 7, 8, 9, if anyone is interested.

Always interested in data, Springboard, but I can’t read the legend to tell me which of the color bars are which songs. Perhaps it’s because of my browser, Safari? Appreciate the time you put into the graphing, in any case.

ETA. Nevermind, I tried again, and this time it showed up fine. I like that you included Season6, too.

  • kvwicks13

Glad to see Lee moving up the VH1 chart to #11!

Lee makes the HAC AT40 countdown.

I don’t follow the HAC charts, but I thought I had read here that Lee was more in the twenties than at #40.

Is the AT40 countdown something totally different than the regular HAC chart?

  • Eileen99

Is the AT40 countdown something totally different than the regular HAC chart?

The regular Mediabase HAC charts do not include recurrents. Ryan’s American Top 40 countdown does, and usually lags the charts by a couple of weeks. This is why LLWD has been on the countdown for 60 weeks, for example.

  • Andy11

It looks like Crystal got a little bump on iTunes after the video showed this morning–her album is at 40 right now. I hope Lee gets a bump too. The video exposure may be a helpful element for both of them.

  • smeggingnuts

    These are just US sales.

  • girlygirl

Definitely looks like Crystal got an iTunes bump

    singles

    #802 – Farmer’s Daughter

    albums

    #41/#344 – Farmer’s Daughter

  • springboard

Lee’s single also got an iTunes bump from #560 to #335.

  • cookcricket

Congrats to Crystal and Lee making the countdown! I guess Lee was on there before?

Does anyone know if FD video in available on itunes yet? If not, when will it be? TIA. (Sorry, I guess I’m just too lazy to check for myself.)

ETA: Did her fans know that this was on the countdown yet? LOL, I guess I’m a little out of that loop even though I consider myself a fan.

  • smeggingnuts

I would think so because with how little radio play it has had I doubt it would have gotten so high on its first week (It only started playing on VH1 this last week) on the countdown without idol fans voting.

haha and secondly I saw lots of tweets on twitter telling people to vote for her and even someone posted it here.

  • Weebs787

Live It Up is on sale on Amazon, I dont know where it was yesterday, but it’s up to 123… I think it was up as high as 80 earlier. Not that significant, but a nice sales bump nonetheless.

SS was also on Rick Dee’s at #35, I dont know if anyone’s mentioned that yet.

Nice that both are getting slight bumps from the video/radio exposure, hopefully that trend keeps up!

  • cookcricket

thanks smeggingnuts, like I said I’m outside of that loop, esp., since I’m not on twitter. Now that I know it’s there, hopefully I can help go up some more. ;)

  • tigervixxxen

Yeah I saw that on Rick Dees HAC. The numbers for Idols there are:

    September – Daughtry (12)
If I Had You – Adam Lambert (34)
Sweet Serendipity – Lee DeWyze (35)

Also, for the Mediabase HAC top 25 countdown for 1-8-11 (would still love if someone could enlighten me as to what exactly that is)

    25-D Sweet Serendipity-Lee DeWyze
    9-9 September-Daughtry

hehe yw its a really good video I think now that more people are seeing it with it having made the countdown I think it will probably have another nice jump next week

For the VH1 Countdown, do the votes we cast during the coming week count for next Saturday’s countdown or the Countdown a week later?

For the VH1 Countdown, do the votes we cast during the coming week count for next Saturday’s countdown or the Countdown a week later?

I think people have said they tape the countdown on Wednesday or Thursday so votes count until either Tuesday or Wednesday and after carry over to the following week.

I’m glad Lee’s SS video made #11 on VH1. It’s such a cute, charming video, fun and lighthearted. I think this song has a chance if it could get some airplay and promotion.

  • Brook52

Yes, I would love to turn on the radio and there would be Lee and Sweet Serendipity! Charming is the best description I have heard of the video.

  • Yvonne13

Hey Springboard, thanks for the chart. It was quite interesting to see a comparison like this.

  • larc

Second that, Springboard. It puts everything into clear perspective. Much appreciated! :)

  • MonochromaticFriend

Cool graph, Springboard. DC’s sales are awesome, but the trajectory of Jordin Sparks’ debut is pretty impressive.

It took me a second to realize what MBD stood for. It’ll be fun to see if FD continues to track with MBD.

  • steph6449

It took me a second to realize what MBD stood for. It’ll be fun to see if FD continues to track with MBD.

Crystal’s first few weeks have been very close to Danny’s in raw numbers, although not similar as far as BBD chart placement goes.

It will be interesting to see how the sales numbers track from here. Crystal is coming out of a big holiday sales period, where Danny’s numbers started in early March. Danny benefited in March from a nice AI bounce, but that was a one shot thing as there were no more tv appearances (sigh) except in the genre and local formats. As runner-up, Crystal probably will have more tv opportunities.

Danny’s numbers seemed to stay reasonably good from non-stop touring and moderate exposure from his two singles on radio and GAC/CMT. Maybe Crystal can do likewise with hard work and a bit of luck, plus any promo benefits from the runner-up package and different / multiple genre targeting.

That’s great, I knew it had to be getting close because it was certified gold months ago. I’m really happy Adam has a lot of fans in Australia.

WWFM must be very close to 2xPlatinum too.

ETA: According to UKMiX, WWFM needs to sell 3K more copies to go double platinum. GAH!
