Ratings are in from TVByTheNumbers

FOX was the number one network among adults 18-49 and total viewers.

On FOX, So You Think You Can Dance earned a 2.4 18-49 rating, down a tenth from last week’s 2.5.

On ABC, Duets was flat with last week’s 1.1 18-49 rating.

NBC’s Justin Bieber: All Around the World special earned a 0.9 Adults 18-49 rating, scoring almost a full ratings point lower than the last NBC music special (Adele: Live in London, which scored a 1.7 18-49 rating two weeks ago)

Uh oh! POOR BIEBS. Justin Beiber’s  TV special bombed. Rating significantly higher was SYTYCD, although it was down by a point from last week.  It won the night. Duets is flat vs last week. It could be worse.

I’m not surprised by Bieber’s low 18-49 numbers since most of his fans are Tweens. However, the 3.3 million total viewers is surprisingly low. One of the ways Bieber gets so many choice TV appearances must be the belief that he draws in viewers. These numbers can’t help. This is probably the first failure of his career. Very much like that Jonas Brothers movie that bombed. At the time, people were making all sorts of excuses for why the movie did not succeed – it was a concert movie and fans had already seen the concert, girls did not want to sit in a theatre for a couple of hours, they’re more popular live. In reality, it was the beginning of the end. If Bieber is smart, he should work now to attract a different demo immediately.

Ha, poor Biebs. I kinda like him but nothing he does is very enticing to anyone that isn’t a hardcore belieber. Even with the new direction/sound, he is going to struggle to find an older, wider audience to buy and participate in his stuff. Maybe someday he can have a Justin Timberlake-esque comeback, but I don’t think that day is today.
