Wednesday Ratings: SYTYCD Continues to Fall

Nielsen experienced a glitch today, delaying the fast overnights, but we have some final numbers from last night from TVByTheNumbers:

FOX was the number one network among adults 18-49, while NBC led with total viewers.

On FOX, So You Think You Can Dance earned a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating, down a tenth from last week’s 1.8.

On NBC, America’s Got Talent scored a 2.2 among adults 18-49, up two tenths from last week’s 2.0 rating. At 8PM

So You Think You Can Dance continues to lose ratings, which makes me sad.

    As long as it doesn’t go too much lower, it’s fine. I think lower than 1.5 is when people have to worry about renewal.

    Its quite sad that SYTYCD is a good show but due to low ratings; its franchise had to end in a few countries.  I truly hope it will survive in the States.

    SYTYCD is my favorite show but this year I’m just not excited about the dancers.  I also don’t like the choreography.  I guess every show has its “off” season so maybe this is theirs.

     I have been turning it off half way through the show for those exact reasons. The choreography is just off this year.

    agreed. The show can’t keep my attention the entire time. I’m worrying that it’s days are numbered :(

    I still love the show.  Last night was pretty bad, but the three live shows before it were great imo.  The show did peak in a way in S2 and S3 but it’s still been one of the best reality shows on tv since then.  I really hope they get renewed!

    I still love the show, but this season so far I admit that it’s only because I really like dance, even when I just end up analyzing why I don’t like a dance very much. I doubt that the chance to do that is something that pulls in audiences….ha. …For me, it’s not just the choreography that hasn’t been particularly compelling, it’s the dancers, for the most part. They’re definitely very skilled and such but few are really grabbing me at this point, for some reason.

    I LOVE some of the dancers, but they should have started with a Top 10 again and brought back the all stars. Also, it’s hard to stay fresh when the choreographers have all done this before. I don’t need to see contemporary dances ever again where a couple is fighting yet they love each other.

    I, too, think it’s having an off season, but this format really doesn’t help.  I so miss the results shows.  Even my parents, who have always LOVED this show, end up sitting and reading or doing crossword puzzles with it on in the background.

    I “Liked” everyone of your comments as true.  DIV, I agree with you about Seasons 2 & 3.  I also loved Season 1 since it was something new and they had great dancers.

    This last show, Nigel seemed a bit grumpy.  Obviously, he’s not happy with a one day format.  What is on that’s so good that couldn’t fit in a 30 minute Results Show? 

    Also, I think choreography is lacking because of repeat movies within the themes.  I think the Ballroom dancing could be a bit more flashy.  Maybe get new teachers?  There’s nothing like this show, and I just hate to see it get canceled.

    -As a casual watcher, the rule is a little bit confusing, how Nigel can just pick someone to dance again, or how he said that he knew the result already, etc.
    Also, there is no suspense whatsoever with choosing the bottom 3.
    -I think the dancers should change their partners on every dance. It is unfair if someone got paired with somebody that it is not really good.

    I found myself DVRing this, and watching a rerun of The Big Bang Theory. After it is done, I can FF watching this show in about 15 minutes.
