Wednesday Ratings – Halloween, Hurricane Sandy Impact Ratings

A combination of the Halloween holiday and the Hurricane Sandy aftermath meant television usage dropped across the board. Every show was down this week. Check out the numbers for X Factor, Survivor and Nashville after the jump.

I wonder if FOX should have kept the original World Series schedule in place after all.

FOX was the number one network in adults 18-49 while CBS was on top with total viewers.

People do not watch television on Halloween, even when the holiday falls in The Middle of the week and a good chunk of the country is digging out from a giant storm. Adults 18-49 television usage dropped 7% from last Wednesday.

On FOX, the first night of live performances on The X Factor earned a 2.6 adults 18-49 rating, down from a 3.5 for the show’s last Wednesday episode on October 11. However, the show aired until 10:07PM and will probably be adjusted up in the finals.

On CBS, Survivor: Philippines scored a 2.4, down 14% from last week’s 2.8 adults 18-49 rating.

Nashville garnered a series low 1.8 down 10% from last week’s 2.0 adults 18-49 rating.

Wonder what is going to happen with Nashville. If it’s ratings continue to drop after all that pre debut build up.

  • Miz

I think ABC will keep it around. It’s a good show. If it were on NBC, I’d expect it to be dropped.

  • harvestmoon

I think it’s awesome that a 46-year-old Peanuts cartoon won the demo in its time slot.

  • TheGreatXL

I wonder how pissed Simon is that X-Factor schedule has basically boiled down to Fox saying we’ll plop you where we can.

  • elliegrll

As Slezak said, it’s Fox’s second tier reality singing show.  LOL.

That being said, the ratings should stabilize in the 3s once the schedule settles down.  The show has zero buzz, but week to week the ratings haven’t moved a lot.

Well, I said when the change was announced that a lot of viewers wouldn’t be watching.  If you have children, trick or treat night tv is not happening.

I did, of course, DVR it and watch when my children crashed from their sugar high…..late.  I’m thinking a lot of people probably did that last night.  Those DVR numbers don’t count though, right?

  • TheGreatXL

Live+3 Day is what counts, so yeah it counts up until a certain point.

I wonder if Simon knows who Charlie Brown is…

The X-Factor numbers are ugly. I don’t care how Simon & Fox spin this. Not only will X-Factor fail to reach American Idol or The Voice numbers, it will likely fail to reach America’s Got Talent numbers. It’s a third or fourth tier reality competition show!

The new judges really added nothing. Britney is a dud and the interaction and banter between Demi and Simon was cute at first but is looking increasingly scripted and staged. And not funny. Maybe the show can ditch both Britney & Demi next year and get some more interesting judges.

Those DVR numbers don’t count though, right?

They count if people watched the show before 3 am.

If the rating remains bad for XF tonight; its hard to pin it on anything anymore.  How come Sandy did not affect TVoice ratings?  I’m going to “believe” Halloween might be the factor.

I am fairly bored with X Factor this year. The two young girls are decent, but certainly no one I’d follow after the show. I thought Willie was interesting and different, but he’s gone. No one impresses me enough to make time in my schedule to tune in. And yes RE Brittany = Zzzzzzzzzzzzz factor, not X Factor.
