Ratings from @FOX_Research:

@AmericanIdol was the No. 1 program last night in Adults 18-49 (4.7/14), Adults 18-34 (3.2/11), Total Viewers (16.7 million) and all demos

Last night, #FOX won its twelfth consecutive Wednesday night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Total Viewers #AmericanIdol #Season11

Idol beat last night’s No. 2 program by +57% in A18-49 (4.7/14 vs. 3.0/8, Criminal Minds) & 40% in Total Viewers (16.7m vs. 11.9m, CSI)

Dancing with the Stars (8-10:01PM) 2.9/8 16.87
The Voice (8-10PM) 4.1/11 10.83

Last week Idol numbers FOX American Idol (8-10 PM) 5.3 15 17.871

Once again, Idol beats The Voice in both viewers and in the demo.  DWTS can’t match Idol’s demo, but has slightly more viewers.

Idol may gain a ratings point or two when the final numbers become available next week, but it looks like the ratings will still be down compared to last week.

From TVBYTheNumbers:

American Idol was down 11% — six tenths of an adults 18-49 rating point to a 4.7 rating, but Fox still dominated the night with adults 18-49 and total viewers.  Note that last week’s Wednesday ‘Idol” was adjusted up three tenths in the final national numbers.

Hopefully once it’s adjusted up it will close the gap. Either way, I will take number 1 :)

If it’s adjusted up by 3 points like last week, it will hit 5.

If it is down, it’s not surprising considering it’s just a results show.

I would have guessed the decline came from a bad evolution during the night but that’s not really the case because the 9 and 9:30 numbers are pretty close to last week.
For whatever reason, the show began with relatively low numbers at 8 PM, this could signal problems for the contestants oerforming in the first half hour.

That Betty White prank show premiered last night at 8, maybe that stole some viewers?
The show was better later on anyway, so it is good that more viewers saw that haha.

I wonder if the whole direct tv ordeal with Fox and CW had anything to do with it?

And I think the show got better as it went on.

My local Fox affiliate had been blacked out by DirecTV, but then it kicked in on the second hour. I had dvr’ed it and thankfully fastforwarded through it to see if any of it was recorded.

Considering how popular Betty still is, I wouldn’t be surprised if her new show stole a few viewers from AI last night.

The local NBC and Fox affiliates here are both owned by Raycom Media.  They tried to give us a little scare during the NFL playoffs at the end of the year last year but the contract was renewed by the deadline.  I get so tired of all of the corporate petty disagreements between Directv and the local affiliates that they would steep so low to black out these channels.

The good news here is that despite all of that, AI was still #1 in the timeslot with viewers and the demo last night so there’s that.

I’ll wait for the adjustment later.

Good ratings for American idol on a dismal night of singing. There’s not much competition on Wednesday nights, but the “fear of the American idol juggernaut created that so Good Job Nigel.

I think it’s startling that idol has total viewers do low. Wasn’t expecting that.glad the demo numbers are good.

I forgot to post this.  Sorry guys.  Here are last night’s ratings adjustments from tvbythenumbers.

American Idol was adjusted up two tenths, Happy Endings and Survivor were adjusted up one tenth and the 9PM episode of Bent was adjusted down a tenth among adults 18-49 versus Wednesday’s preliminary ratings.

    8:00 FOX American Idol 4.9/14 17.09

Thatnks Pam, that’s what I waiting for! 4.9 is good, but it is still a big drop from last week’s 5.3 so I’m keeping my eye on that. **mean mugs ratings**
